Rob Not Bob
Peripheral question : On the Anthem To Beauty documentary, there is video footage of the Dead playing Truckin', you can see Pigpen in the footage but I distinctly hear piano in the mix, which would put it around this time. Anyone know specifically where this footage came from?

Kanada Kev
... and the final four nights of this glorious/epic tour in Jolly Old London: http://bit.ly/q1XNjU Grateful Dead - Europe ‘72: The Complete Recordings 1972-05-23 (Tue) Strand Lyceum, London, UK The band began its final run of shows on the tour in London with a bang, sharing stage with opening act and good friends the New Riders of the Purple Sage. Just like the previous show in Munich, this show’s big second set highlight was a “Dark Star>Morning Dew.†This, of course, is the less-famous London Dew, after the magnificent version played on 5/26 and included on the Europe ‘72 album. The show also featured the first version by the Grateful Dead of “Rockin’ Pneumonia†and the “Boogie Woogie Flu.†mp3@v0 Track List CD 1 of 3 Promised Land Sugaree Mr. Charlie Black Throated Wind Tennessee Jed Next Time You See Me Jack Straw China Cat Sunflower I Know You Rider Me & My Uncle Chinatown Shuffle Big Railroad Blues Two Souls In Communion Playing in the Band CD 2 of 3 Top Of The World Rockin Pneumonia Mexicali Blues Good Lovin’ Casey Jones Ramble On Rose Dark Star Morning Dew CD 3 of 3 He’s Gone Sugar Magnolia Comes A Time Goin’ Down the Road Feeling Bad Not Fade Away Hey Bo Diddley Not Fade Away Uncle John’s Band http://bit.ly/q1XNjU ================================================= http://bit.ly/ogxP2t Grateful Dead - Europe ‘72: The Complete Recordings 1972-05-24 (Wed) Strand Lyceum, London, UK In typical Europe ‘72 fashion, if it was “Dark Star†one night, it was “The Other One†the next (usually…see previous show). And this “Other One†is up with the best of the tour. The second of the tour’s two “Rockin’ Pneumonias†was played this night, as well as the last-ever Pigpen-sung version of “Lovelight.†mp3@v0 Track List CD 1 of 3 Cold Rain and Snow Beat it on Down the Line Mr. Charlie Deal Me and My Uncle Hurts Me Too Dire Wolf Black Throated Wind Chinatown Shuffle China Cat Sunflower I Know You Rider Playing in the Band You Win Again Jack Straw CD 2 of 3 Casey Jones Rockin’ Pneumonia Mexicali Blues Black Peter Truckin’ drums The Other One Sing Me Back Home CD 3 of 3 Sugar Magnolia Turn On Your Lovelight The Stranger (Two Souls in Communion) One More Saturday Night http://bit.ly/ogxP2t ================================================= http://bit.ly/neD0nP Grateful Dead - Europe ‘72: The Complete Recordings 1972-05-25 (Thu) Strand Lyceum, London, UK The second set jam this night is unique both in terms of the tour and the greater Grateful Dead history, featuring three three Garcia-sung songs in a row: “Uncle John’s Band>Wharf Rat>Dark Star.†All three are top notch, and “Wharf Rat†was quite a rarity on this tour, so this is a nice treat. mp3@v0 Track List CD 1 of 4 Promised Land Brown Eyed Women Big Boss Man Black Throated Wind Tennessee Jed Mr. Charlie Jack Straw China Cat Sunflower I Know You Rider Me and Bobby McGee CD 2 of 4 Good Lovin’ Playing in the Band Brokedown Palace Casey Jones Me and My Uncle Big Railroad Blues Chinatown Shuffle Ramble On Rose CD 3 of 4 Uncle John’s Band Wharf Rat Dark Star Sugar Magnolia CD 4 of 4 Comes A Time El Paso Top Of The World Goin’ Down the Road Feeling Bad One More Saturday Night http://bit.ly/neD0nP ================================================= http://bit.ly/nm7IIo Grateful Dead - Europe ‘72: The Complete Recordings 1972-05-26 (Fri) Strand Lyceum, London, UK The last night. As much the band could be forgiven for being exhausted and ready to go home, they brought their A-game and played what many consider to be one of the top two or three shows on the tour. A 19 song first set (!) ends with the usual second set closer “Not Fade Away>GDTRFB>Not Fade Away,†and the set also included a 17 minute “Playing In The Band,†the show at which “Playing†became the 17-25 minute jam vehicle it would be for the rest of 1972 through 1974. The second, set, though, is so good that it was immortalized on Side 5 and Side 6 of the Europe ‘72 album. What that album is missing from this jam, though, is a terrific “Other One†around the “Morning Dew,†and the finest (and totally appropriate) “Sing Me Back Home†of the tour. mp3@v0 Track List CD 1 of 4 Promised Land Sugaree Mr. Charlie Black Throated Wind Loser Next Time You See Me El Paso Dire Wolf Two Souls In Communion Playing in the Band CD 2 of 4 He’s Gone Cumberland Blues Jack Straw Chinatown Shuffle China Cat Sunflower I Know You Rider Not Fade Away Goin’ Down the Road Feeling Bad Not Fade Away CD 3 of 4 Truckin’ The Other One Morning Dew The Other One Sing Me Back Home CD 4 of 4 Me and My Uncle Ramble On Rose Sugar Magnolia Casey Jones One More Saturday Night http://bit.ly/nm7IIo
