ripping help?

Hola. I'm in the process of FLAC-ifying my CDs. Problemo: I've come across one that is copy-protected; EAC and CUE Tools cannot recognize it as an audio CD. Can someone tell me how I can get around this? I tried using ISObuster, but it still didn't recognize the disc.

Hmm, that's really odd. I've never come across a CD I wasn't able to rip - especially using the tools you mention. Perhaps I or someone I know has the same CD. I'm sure you know where I'm going with that, PM if you'd rather.

Even the CD/DVD drive doesn't recognize the discs. When I click on Drive E:, it tells me that I need to insert a disc, despite the fact that the disc is already in. Everything works fine and dandy in a cd player, though. There's an extra ring around the outer edge of the discs that I think may be causing the problem. I read somewhere that I could use a non-permanent Sharpie to black that out, but I'm rather hesitant to try that approach.

Two months later... a solution! Insert discs into computer so old that the drive doesn't recognize anti-pirating technology. Drive reads discs. Voila!

Here I thought you were looking to get drunk or buff. I'm no help at all...

I'd have suggested that you try Songbird but I'm not quite sure if it still rips in FLAC or if they've switched to Windows Media Lossless (which can be done in Windows Media Player)

The problem, though, was that the drive wouldn't even recognize that there was a disc in it. It doesn't matter what program I use if the computer doesn't even think there's a disc in the drive.
