bradm
Sort of intense funk/ska/militant music. I think of them as coming out of the two-tone ska movement of the early 80s (think Madness, Selecter, Specials) pumped up to (and beyond) RHCP level. The music is pretty (and personally) political; they've done a lot of songs about trouble'n'strife in the inner-city (e.g., "Pray To The Junkymaker", a cover of Curtis Mayfield's "Freddie's Dead").This is not so much groove'n'relax music, it's more fret'n'sweat music. (I saw them at Porter Hall back in [iIRC] '94, and the lead singer did a monkey-bars thing in the light lattice above the crowd, showering us with sweat all the way.)Up close and personal at Zaphod's, it's going to be a blast. I can't wait.Aloha, Brad

As the launch pad for the future of FISHBONE's ever-unfolding musical mission, the disc serves its listener a triple dose of anarchy, boundary crossing, unfettered improvisation and a fuck-it-all attitude, for a multifaceted rebirth into a wide open playing field. Stay tuned as the legend of FISHBONE continues to unfold.FISHBONE's eagerness to confront, provoke and cross-pollinate enabled them (along with THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, THE UNTOUCHABLES, et al) to help the early-80's music scene shake free of the unsavoury grip of uninspired rock and "New Wave" hair bands. The 'BONERS have continued to delight fans and confound radio programmers with 5 full-length albums and 3 EPs. Through it all, the band has embraced, lampooned and shifted hairstyles and clothes like a stripped-gear chameleon--the constants are ENERGY and MOTION!FISHBONE web site - http://www.fishbone.net i was at that show too, and i watched a female friend of my get completely drenched by angelo's sweaty fountain.. that show was so good. davey- think rchp, with more soul and more funk and more ska and more punk..
