  1. I meant to continue but got distracted and saved. This was just the best option for this time around. I'd like to have something more reasonable in place for next year.

One of my favourite hip shows was the one at the NAC a number of years ago. Downie was on fire, stepping over heads and walking on the backs of the seats while singing away.
  3. The sidebar only appears in the forum and topic index pages. http://jambands.ca/f/index.php?/forum/11-soundboard/
  4. Fundraisers are a great idea but they seem like alot of work for anyone who would be involved. Donations seems to be the easiest way to hit the mark and the goal could be accomplished with very little personal funds if the submissions are spread out across as many active users possible.
  5. After the US exchange rate, this year it's approx $900.
  6. I turned on the sidebar and within it, I've added the ability to accept donations for the site. This is to cover yearly hosting bills that I've been able to handle in the past through advertising. The last few years, there has been no ad space purchases and google ads do not provide more than around $70 over a year. So I've been footing the bills personally over the last few years. I've come to the conclusion that the site needs some form of income and the only way I could come up with at the moment is by implementing a persistent donation box. Any amount will be helpful. Since the box relies on paypal, hopefully everyone wishing to drop some money into the guitar case already has a paypal account, or doesn't mind setting one up. Other forms of donation may be acceptable as well. Suggestions are welcome. If anyone has any other ideas to fund hosting I'm all eyes and ears.

I remembered at 10:15 that I had a presale email. Apparently that was too late. Both Kingston and Ottawa were unavailable.
  8. He's hosting a blues jam. it's also free. I wish I could make it.

    Gord Downie

Shocking news. I'm already thinking back to when the Tragically Hip played a school dance at my highschool when I was in grade 10. I didn't know them at the time and I think they may have still been primarily a cover band. The only song I remember was their cover of "Money" in the style of the beatles, I was big into the beatles so that made me really like them. The times when my friends and I would sneak on some private property near lemoine's point in Kingston with beer, build a fire and play Up To Here and Road Apples all night on a ghetto blaster. The time a friend and I went on a last minute road trip to brockville in my crappy first car to see The Hip play a little music festival and saw how much the band had changed, and had become rock stars. The time I volunteered at the first Another Roadside Attraction in Kingston at a Queens U stadium. While working the artist entrance back gate, let Gord Downie in after busting his balls and pretending I didn't recognize him and asked for ID. He didn't have any and said he's late for soundcheck. I laughed and let him in. He laughed, then he asked for a smoke and a light. I gave him one, but I didn't have a light and wanted to smoke too. Gord takes off to the stage, thanking me. 5 minutes later, he's running across the field back to the gate. He arrives and says "Hey, I got you a light!". He lights my smoke, and heads back for soundcheck I learned how swell of a guy he is that day.
  12. cool vid. The Phish sound really good. Why wasn't the cereal simply called Gord O's ? That would have taken the gag from a 6 to about a 9.
  13. ps. A word about TICKETS…. Tickets for this tour, as always, are available through my website louisck.net. Tickets for every seat at every show (with a few exceptions) are one price. Most tickets are $50 or less. There are no ticket fees for any shows. My agent worked hard to accomplish this by negotiating in every city and finding venues that were willing to help us make the shows affordable. In some cases, the venues and I are splitting the ticket charges between us so you don’t have to pay it. In the end it’s worth it to me because I don’t want coming to see me to be a painful choice for anyone and either way I’m making plenty of money on the tour. I sincerely hope that everyone takes advantage of this by simply buying the affordable tickets and coming to the shows. For those of you who plan to take the opportunity of the simple and cheap ticketing on this tour to make a profit at the expense of my fans, please note that we are working hard to prevent scalping and that if you resell your tickets at an unfair price, you are risking having your tickets invalidated. Also if you purchase tickets to my shows from Stubhub or other scalping sites, that ticket may not be valid. If you buy tickets to one of my shows and you can’t go, or you somehow get stuck with them, please contact us at Lcktix16@gmail.com and we will try to help you get your money back. If you buy tickets from a reseller and they get cancelled, please contact us here because we probably now have that ticket and are going to throw it back on sale at the original price and you could get it that way. In any case, you can always reach out and we will try to help you. That’s in America. In Europe and Israel I don’t honestly know what we are charging because the ticketing systems there are very different. It’s taken us a few years to build the relationships we have with the venues and ticket companies here in the states so we could pull this off. Over there we are trusting their system to take care of you.
  14. I'm guessing that it has something to do with ajax scripts not completing for some reason. Paging doesn't cause a real postback but refreshing will do a full postback. I'll try and find out if there is a known problem with large threads.
  15. If you click on the prev page, and it doesn't list, try refreshing (ctrl-r). What happens?
  16. Just thought I'd adjust the prices: $199 USD = $257 CAD $399 USD = $516 CAD $1599 USD = $2067 CAD
  17. Joe Grass on pedal steel makes my gears spin too. Looks great!
  18. Breit gets all kevin breit at 3:10
  19. This video was actually interesting because it shows musical connections between songs like Manic Monday / 1999, Nothing Compares 2 U / Purple Rain by repurposing hooks and chord progressions.
  20. This vid of Prince at SNL 40 after party gets extra points for being captured by SNL alum Tim Kazurinzki

  23. Today is what it sounds like when doves cry. I received texts about this during a meeting this aft and was in total disbelief until I got back to my desk and saw it all over the internet. Then came shock. My first prince concert was in Toronto at the Maple Leaf Gardens: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/prince/1988/maple-leaf-gardens-toronto-on-canada-73d856a1.html I didn't know that I'd already seen my last Prince concert in Montreal: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/prince/2011/metropolis-montreal-qc-canada-1bd379f4.html
