  1. I don't know what the sticking up for Nickelback thing is all about, because one's even attacking them!

The same singer notion came out about the same time the Stone Temple Shitheads showed up in 93. I still get confused. It's almost 10 years later, and more and more bands come out with lead singers that sound exactly like Vedder.

I think we should put a stop to it now, and form a band with a lead singer that sounds exactly like Vader!

  2. Hey man. You've got to come out for a little jammy at the office while you're around. In one of the studios, we have a guitar, 5-string bass, drum kit, an Alesis keyboard with a cool set of classic organ patches, and a PA with a couple of mics. The only problem is, it'd probably be just me and you. Although, Greg may be around to screw around on the keys.

  3. I can't believe that as soon as I read gentlemonkey's response, I read it as it was sung. I instantly recognized it. FUCK! It's soo obvious that that song is everywhere. I don't even listen to the radio or muchmusic. I think it's played everytime I go to the gym.

    God I hate top 40

  4. They've had those programs for years. You have to watch it. One link can go forever if you don't set it up right. Even following 3 levels of links can really fug you up!

Doggy, I guess it's real good that I downloaded it now. I haven't made any other discs since the first one. Remind me to make you the shn's before I come to Kingston, which will most likely be monday.

  5. Speaking of Christmas eve traditions, you should come to Kingston and get trashed at my mothers house. It's the place where people go after they've done all the nice christmas things with their families. Some people show up after midnight. We've stayed up until 5 or 6 drinking a couple of times. Have even woke up having to drive some people home in the morning so they can open up their gifts with their families.

  6. I get a kick out of old reviews of shows, like the ones you see attached to old Dick's Picks. I thought I'd post one from a dead show that was posted to USENET on Aug, 06, 1983. It's pretty funny that people did the same thing and posted reviews during the days of Atari Pacman and Michael Jackson.

This article is a review of the latest Grateful Dead show at Ventura

County Fairgrounds in Ventura, Ca. and is intended for other DeadHeads.

Boy was it hot!! Both the music and the weather. We got there about 1am

the night before, and as usual at Dead shows, they were prepared for us. For $5

we got to camp right behind the stage for three nights, and they had full

bathrooms (plus a few port-a-potty's), including showers, which were mandatory

after the shows because the fairgrounds is a dirt surface and it was unbeliev-

ably dusty. I flew out there, since Saturday (7/30) was my birthday and I

figured I deserved a good birthday present (.| .| Happy Birthday to me .|.| now

get outta here, you knuckleheads, I love you). Really hot first set the first

day. They opened with China Cat --> I Know You Rider, usually an ending tune,

and it was uphill from there. Brown Eyed Women, Cassidy, and they closed the

set with Music Never Stopped. There were some aerial acrobatic flyers overhead

who went into a great routine during this song, dipping their wings when Bobby

got to the line about "keep on dancing" and everyone went nuts. New tunes,

including a really hot new Bobby song apparently called "Hell in a Bucket", and

a new Jerry tune, "Touch of Grey" (second day encore). An oddity--this was the

first Saturday show I ever saw where they did *not* play One More Saturday

Night! They played it on Sunday instead. (By the way, we forgot to play this

yesterday!) One question: is Bobby turning political on us? Some lines from

new songs include "shadowboxing with the apocalypse" (Brother Esa), what the

hell is he talking about? Anyone have the full words to this song? And also

"politicians throwing stones" (Throwing Stones, also known as "Ashes,Ashes")

I realize some of these songs are nearly a year old now, but this is the first

time *I* had heard them. Other new tunes include "West LA Fade Away" (Jerry),

and "Day Job" (Jerry). I'd say they have plenty enough for a new album, where

is it? Anyhow, I should be getting pretty good tapes from that show eventually,

because someone I know from Boulder was there with a really hot taping setup,

and he had his mikes mounted dead center on the front of the mixing tower.

The shows were excellent, and I'm defintely looking forward to 3 nights at

Red Rocks next month. If I'm lucky, I might make one of the Stanford shows

too, as I'll be in the area then. A band beyond description....

I may be going to hell in a bucket, but at least I'm enjoying the ride,

    --

    GREG
