This was a horrible atrocity. I lived across the street from the Katyn Memorial in Toronto (a few houses down). It's quite the powerful sculpture and there is barbed wire sculpted into the ground beneath it. I recall walking by one evening when they were having a memorial service and talking to some of the Polish mourners. They were so kind and were more than happy to educate me on what it was all about.

I totally feel that Kosto didn't intend for the hit to be as bad as it was. It's too bad. It was an unlucky sequence for both players. However, if they are going to crack down on hits from behind, no matter what the circumstances, they have to do them equally. What PISSES me off is that if it was a "star" player making the hit nothing would be done (eg. Crosby, Malkin, etc.)

Hey Davey Boy, I too had a relative who fought on the Plains of Abraham!!! Wild. I was talking to my grandmother about it the other month. She was watching some (Canadian) show on TV where they investigate items people find in their attics, or family heirlooms that they don't know the history behind. In this one episode they were tracking somebody's relative back to the Plains of Abraham and they were figuring out who all the people were in some famous painting from the time. She was hoping that a family name would pop up to link it to us, but it didn't My grandfather served (Army) in Korea and then in UN work in Japan and the Congo. My other grandfather served as an officer in the Navy during WWII on a minesweeper. Spent time in the Atlantic out of Halifax. Minesweepers weren't huge vessels and they got tossed around a lot in the open Atlantic. He was then stationed at HMCS York in Toronto (i have his desk from back then). When the War was over, all employee's at Eaton's were presented with a gold ring for thanks. Ever since he died, I wear it every day.

How the fuck is that a "private and personal matter" for a public official!!! It happened out in public, not in the privacy of his home, or a hotel room. What a disgusting incident anyway. If the guy is a repeat offended in the club, they should be looking for him at the door and simply ban him from entry. I recall something like this (although no urine got on anyone at least) at a Dylan show in Toronto. It was at the Masonic Temple (Concert Hall) and it was packed. Aimee Mann was the opener and some dude up in the front was pissing in empty beer bottles and then placing them on the stage in front of her (all so that he wouldn't lose his spot). Eventually, on of them tipped over i think. Aimee freaked, rightfully so. They took the asshole out and i hope he missed the rest of the show. I could see it all since i was in the balcony (not peeing on anyone ). Just looked it up ... back in '96. The Habs will have a lot to prove in the next match-up. Should be sweet. They won't go down 2 in a row to Toronto like that. Grabovski seemed to thrive on the attention the Habs were giving him. To his credit, he didn't back down either. The butt-end was cheap. I'm sure he'll get grief for that one What was with the Habs taking almost 8 minutes into the game to register the first shot? Ended up 41-20 in favour of the Leafs. Unheard of compared to recent years. Always drove me nuts that the Leafs would get outshot in almost every game. Now they are on an 11-game run of being on top of that stat.

That's not how it happened. Did you see it?? He was screening price standing in front of him, outside of the crease (not Avery-style ). Price was pissed and smacked him in the back of the head with his trapper. That was when Grabovsky gave him the butt-end. Not excusable, but not quite the way you described it
