  1. Glad to hear things are getting better... Over the last few years I've noticed some things going down, but am still unsure what happened to you.

Anyway glad to hear things are on the ups!

Let your soulshine. It's better than all the other shines...

  2. Strange, but not the the strangest ever... For some reason country boys have a soft spot for ZZ Top. My dad was a hard core country western fan, didn't like rock at all. But back in the day he'd be all over that show. He used to get such a kick out of "those guys with the long beards".

  3. I second that. The Bronte course is great, the layout is quite challenging now, it's not quite the birdie madness it used to be. They got a lot of money to improve the course, new baskets, tee pads etc... Every year that course keeps getting better and better. Just keep an eye out for poison ivy!

  4. I was avoiding the new modem myself for a long time. I had suspected that with it they'd be able to monitor my activity. I was having no problems witht the old modem. Then one day it just stopped working. When I called tech support they claimed it was because of the modem. So, I went out and got the new one. It didn't solve my connectivity problem. It turns out that some of my internet setting had mysteriously changed (they claimed it was a virus) and all I had to do was change them back.

Ditto! They'd literally been threatening me for years that my modem was going to stop working. Even had a contest to try and entice me to switch. That made me even more suspicious. Got the new modem, and of course couldn't connect. Turned out my account was turned off because of the modem, but no one bothered to turn it back on. Took my guy a while to figure out why it was off, so the person you talked to probably thought it was a virus or something. Some of them ain't so bright.

And the kicker is that they are now charging me for modem rental. They said before that nothing would change after the switch, I wouldn't be paying for the modem. Bastards.

I'd definitely change if there was good unfiltered highspeed around to be had. I should look into it. I've cut all my others rogers services, Internet is the last one.

  5. Rogers has been monitoring and had the 60gig cap for a while now. They just recently decided to start telling people about it, and I suspect they'll start enforcing it. A few months ago they cut my service off forcing me to upgrade to a new and fancy modem. Since then my torrents are a lot more throttled and now they are announcing the cap. I suspect the newer modem technology has a lot do to with this, and now they can enforce across the board...

I guess I could see a case for paying for extra gigs. But then it that's the case, all media should be free over the internet and a portion of my data fees should go to artists and musicians.

  6. The first jazz is dead show was sick!

One of my favourite zone memories, was being outside after the Blue Floyd show and the Betts kid asked me where he could get some opium. "it IS chinatown isn't it??!!" LOL

Another classic memory, sitting on the silver dollar patio on one of those legendary wednesday nights. My friend was trying to pack his one hitter and wished for a paper so he could roll. He puts his hand out palm up and I literally watched a rolling paper float down from the sky and land in his hand. No jokes! If ever there was a sign to roll!

  7. Anyone else see this movie? Totally bizarro, yet strangely compelling...

As near as I can tell it's kind of a near future, orwellian retelling of the prophesized end times according to the book of revelations...

I'm probably going to have to watch it a few more times, although I'm not convinced it'll make much more sense...

    Anyone else see?

  8. Corn grows well, but the critters will rip it off before it's ready!! And you only get 1 to 2 ears per plant...

I have a yard, but I still grow in containers. If find it's easy to move things around to get the sun. Throughout the season as things grow I'm always moving my plants around, changing their positions. Plus when it gets into fall, you can easily pull them into a shed, or wherever when it gets cold at night.

  9. I'm probably going to get my seeds started in a couple of weeks...

The last couple of years I've grown tomatoes, hot peppers, sweet peppers, beans, snow peas, and strawberries. Lettuce failed miserably. The cherry tomatoes always seem to do the best.

Every year is different. Some things will do better one year over another. Some bugs like certain plants and will be worse some years than others. You really just gotta experiment. Plant a few extras in case something should happen to a plant.

Pests in Toronto are bad. Raccoons, squirrels, bugs... They'll definitely make it trickier for you. But it's still worth it when you can do a little harvest and eat a fresh stir fry that you grew.

If your planting in containers, water every day, and fertilize often. I save all my eggs shells which the snow peas really love. Snow peas do the best in spring and fall when it's cool.

  10. And does Facebook really connect people? Doesn't it rather disconnect us, since instead of doing something enjoyable such as talking and eating and dancing and drinking with my friends, I am merely sending them little ungrammatical notes and amusing photos in cyberspace, while chained to my desk?

He's got it totally wrong... The whole point is to connect with people that you aren't able to connect with in your regular daily life, due to a variety of different reasons, geography being the most obvious.
