  9. Don't know anything about "The Secret." Never heard of it until I opened this thread. What I do know is this - after a multitude of years on this fair planet and having dealt with 100's and 100's and 100's of people (incl teachers/students/parents/grandparents/board members/ministry officials etc etc etc), in my experience, I have found the following to be true - those who thought the world was out to do them no good were right.............and those who thought the world was out to do them good were also right.
  10. but what if it did? but what if on that particular day, you are in Peterborough with no access to a computer or phone and desperately need to talk to someone from this board and you and boogieknight show up at the same parking spot. Would you be happy even if he got the spot? Winning a lottery or a bingo is not an end in itself, it is a means to an end. If an individual achieved the same end and never won either would they be happy?

  15. Only read and watched what was posted here , but what these folks ("The Secret") are saying has been around in many forms (some religious/some not) for many years. It starts with the basic notion that the universe conspires to make us happy and once we believe that and think/act accordingly it happens. Personally, I do believe is there an elemental truth at work here. The problem comes when people (incl myself) apply only part of the process. There is a path to happiness for everyone (which we control), but there are no short cuts.
