  1. As always thanks so much, Brad. James has been sick for awhile now, but I hadn't noticed he began that show with a call for a doctor hahaha the things you miss and the beauty of having it recorded. Nice seeing ya again.
  2. No complaints here. Johnny Cash - A Hundred Highways Drive-By Truckers - A Blessing and a Curse Los Lobos - The Town and The City Justin Rutledge - The Devil on a Bench in Stanley Park First exposure to the Truckers and lovin' it.
  3. Happy birthday, Todd! Have yourself a good one, my friend!
  4. Sad news. In many ways, the ultimate showman "hit it Maceo....." RIP James.
  5. In. Lookin' forward to getting back to T.O. and seeing everyone. Love the Cameron House.

    I am so sad

A real tough day, Cully. Sorry to hear about this.
  8. It's my understanding in the new year Matt will tour in support of his solo CD. When he does he will not be backed by El Torpedo, but by a number of musicians including Dale Murray and Serge Samson from the Guthries. I would assume Serge will play bass, but, from what I can tell, there's been no permanent change to the El Torpedo line-up. I know there are some promo photos (w/Dale Murray in them) out there for that tour.
  9. hey cool! Good for Matt and the lads. This means tomorrow I'll be able to list them in the Famous People You Know thread Thanks for the heads-up, 'ersh.
  10. To one of the nicest folks I know Have yerself a good one, Caroline!
  11. I absolutely loved this quote:
  12. Sharon thanks for the clarification on pinning. It's unfortunate that numerous posts and re-asking of the question had to occur before it came. Human nature (my own included) being what it is, folks don't like to be ignored and will, of course, eventually read things into the ongoing silence. Although it's no one's business, as jambands.ca gets into more show promotion (The Slip???-altho not in the end I guess - The Code Talkers? GroundHog Fest? etc.) it's important for folks to be aware of the relationship between that and use of the forum, so there aren't misunderstandings and assumptions. Thanks again and yes we do appreciate the effort that you and Mike put forth on behalf of all of us.
  13. My thoughts amd my condolences go out to all of Marcel's family and friends. So very sad. May you find strength in each other and comfort in your memories of Marcel.
  14. hey mooose welcome to the FAQ thread (where questions are asked, but seldom answered). Good luck.

haha perhaps. All promotions walk a fine line between creating excitement or killing it. Fact that this one has deteriorated into a long running joke and based on comments/threads like this one it seems, for some folks, the line has been crossed....a separate forum might help.
  16. John Lennon was an artist whose legend was as large when he was alive as it is now that he is gone. He was truly one of a kind....and greatly missed. RIP John.
  17. I doubt that flowers or monuments are going to slow people down or dissuade them from driving drunk. Perhaps what it does is remind those who choose not to drive this way why they make that choice. For me flowers is enough. When you get into monuments and maintenance etc you turn a simple gesture of remembrance into some sort of business transaction. For me anyways, I would look at it differently.

Are you kidding? That would take most of the fun out of what has essentially become one big joke. But please try.
  19. Meant to add that I quite agree with Marco re: the Stones' music post Exile. I must confess, however, that, for me, nothing after Some Girls (1978) ever really came close to their best. Q. Do you think the music of the Rolling Stones has an overall theme? A. Yeah. Women. - Keith Richards
