There's a new (super)group called "Hudson" (drummer Jack DeJohnette, bassist Larry Grenadier, keyboardist John Medeski and guitarist John Scofield)

    https://www.jambase.com/article/hudson-supergroup-announces-2017-tour-dates

They're playing in Saratoga Springs, NY on June 25; Toronto, ON on June 29; and Montreal, QC on June 30. I hope they'll be in Ottawa, maybe between Saratoga and Toronto.

    Aloha,

    Brad

That sounds like it would be pretty great.

July 14 Bangor, ME — Darlings Waterfront Pavilion
July 15 Mansfield, MA — Xfinity Center
July 18 Wantagh, NY — Jones Beach Theater
July 19 Bristow, VA — Jiffy Lube Live
July 21 Bethel, NY — Bethel Woods Center for the Arts
July 22 Saratoga Springs, NY — Saratoga Performing Arts Center

    Aloha,

    Brad

That would actually be pretty great, especially with Cyndi Lauper on the bill, but I don't know...it would have to be on the 16th, right after Great Woods, or maayybe on the 11th.  Hope so, but I doubt it.

Agreed that there will be much Canadiana on the bill this summer and while they will spin it as a celebration of 150, I'm guessing it will actually be because of the low Canadian dollar.

For Canadian talent they could get...maybe Neil?  Bryan Adams is in Europe, Billy Talent will already have come through town, The Hip are obviously out of the picture.  Of course Blue Rodeo will be there.  Maybe The Weeknd (missp?).

I'm surprised they've never mined the wealth of b-level retro Canadian acts like Trooper, Loverboy, April Wine, David Wilcox, Platinum Blonde, Honeymoon Suite...that sort of thing.  I'm not saying they should, but they've gotta go down that road eventually, no?

Dylan fans would be the only others I imagine.

Bob's 1978 film 'Renaldo & Clara' was also four hours (232 minutes). I love the film but it's a tough watch for most folks. I've met three people in my life who saw the four hour version of film in a theater, in Vacouver. (only Candian showing). I may know a half dozen that claim to have watched it more than twice. It never got good reviews back then, and Dylan eventually cut it back to two hours, but it was never officially released.

    Never even heard of it.

  4. It was probably about twenty hours long before the first edit.

Basically no other crowd in the world would entertain the idea of a four-hour movie like the Deadheads.  Good news for the director.  I bet most film makers would love to put out movies this long but the studios (via the audiences) insist on cutting more and more.

Remember that scene in the directors cut of Apocalypse Now where they encounter the Playboy bunnies?  I've often thought how much it must have sucked to have acted in such a major film and had your entire scene cut out.  And of course the director shot it because he thought it was important, and yet...cutting room floor.
