  1. Fitting that they kept asking me to select pictures with lawns in them.
  2. I agree with edger, phorbesie, booche, and davey boy.
  3. I notice they're taking two days off in the middle. First time for that I think.
  4. Agreed. Very interested in Joe Jackson and Duran Duran.
  5. Seems pretty crazy-early for Bluesfest, and they have nothing on their fb or website, or even really on their main Twitter feed (is that the right terminology?), but in their twitter responses there are plenty of mentions that they're announcing tomorrow. @kassyp123 Prices for the pre-sale will be released in the website when the lineup is announced tomorrow. 6. Just in case any of you intrepid Canadians were gonna give it a shot tonight, Whitehorse has been called on account of cold. Cancellation: Tonight's Whitehorse concert is cancelled due to cold weather. Confederation Park will be open to visitors. For information on other activities, check out the ‪#‎Winterlude‬ calendar of events: http://owl.li/I65Ve
  7. Tonight from 6-9. It was excellent last time. Hope to see some of you there. Alex is from the Chocolate Hot Pockets and many other acts, and he's great. So is Megan of course.
  8. Technically it's a Fraser Hollins show, but that's not what sold me.
  9. They've taken down one of the Gorge dates. They are playing two nights instead of three.
  10. Lots of fun last night. Believe it or don't, dude behind me asked me to sit down halfway through the first song. I did not comply, and within a few songs my whole section was standing up. I was behind the stage in the 300's, about eight rows back. Great seats.
  11. By the way, if you aren't familiar with Brian Browne he's a really, really fantastic jazz piano player. Very standard-based, plays inside, but amazing. He actually used to sub for Oscar Peterson in Montreal when Oscar would be double-booked. He gigged with Sinatra too. He's at Das Lokal on Sunday, February 28th. I have a table booked, hope to see some of you there!
  12. We went last night. Hard to believe that was my first time seeing the Dusty Drifters. Lots and lots of talent in that band. I'm glad we made reservations; we showed up at 7:15 and the place was full. Our table for two was waiting for us by the door. I called the bar last week and was told the mucis was starting at 7:30 but they were already on when we arrived. The bar/restaurant is a bit odd. I guess it's a German-themed place (funny the name didn't tip me off) with a really, really short menu. There were five items on the menu in total and fries was one of them. There was also a sausage plate, goulash, something else and a mushroom melt, which is what Heather and I ordered to share. At $14 it wasn't cheap but not too overpriced either, but at the same time it was pretty good but not great. When the waiter came he explained that they had $5 pints and then he said, "But don't be embarrassed to order the $5 pint because it's good beer, Stiegl." I thought that was really odd. When Heather looked over the drink menu she mentioned that there were no other beers listed. "Bummer," he said, before listing off the other two or three kinds of beers they had. We both ordered the $5 pints and they were't pints at all. We got tall, thin glasses of beer but we could see other beers came in proper pints. Bummer. A final observation: I'm not crazy about restaurants that attempt to be a bit upscale but have the decor of a cheap pub. They tables were made of roughly sawn planks outfitted with cheap metal chairs. If you're going with that sort of decor at least have a burger on your menu. I know this is the "in" thing, but to me it's just cheaping out on the furnishings. All that said, I'm about to reserve a table for the next Nachtmuzic, Brian Browne at the end of February.
  13. Good for them...good for you! Just ggogled the venue. McCartney played there last Valentine's Day. Woah.
  14. Fun, drunky time last night. Guggenheim were quite awesome.
  15. Saw them in Vegas at a pre-show (afternoon) gig. By second set they won me over big time.
  16. Thinking of going this year. Bonus: No booche stinking the place up.
  17. Face value obviously. If you're in Ottawa, no problem 'cuz I am too. If you're in Toronto, well I'm coming up for Springsteen on Tuesday so we could do the exchange then. Let me know!
  18. I clicked the link in Esau's post and had to sign up to see the pics. I found them here as well: http://www.sfchronicle.com/thetake/article/Long-lost-photos-from-legendary-S-F-concert-6788689.php?t=9a9372e28fca22c765&cmpid=fb-premium#photo-9286249
  19. I saw a show there a few months ago and I was surprised to see how well they are set up for shows. Good stage, lighting, sight lines, etc. There is of course the Barrhaven aspect, but there ya go.
  20. I forgot about them not having a roof on the first night. And it rained.
