It has come to my attention that this is a very good band. Hence, I'm looking for a pair of tickets for the show in Toronto on Monday, May 8th. Please let me know if you hear of anything!

I see Maceo Parker is booked for July 26th and some band called Peregrine Falls is on the 27th.

I got lucky calling Tom Petty for Bluesfest this year so I'll give it a try with jazzfest too: I see King Crimson is in Montreal on July 3rd. Could be they're booked for Ottawa Jazzfest on the 2nd?

Molly Hatchet + Gary Clark Jr. are my faves.

That would actually be pretty great, especially with Cyndi Lauper on the bill, but I don't know...it would have to be on the 16th, right after Great Woods, or maayybe on the 11th. Hope so, but I doubt it. Agreed that there will be much Canadiana on the bill this summer and while they will spin it as a celebration of 150, I'm guessing it will actually be because of the low Canadian dollar. For Canadian talent they could get...maybe Neil? Bryan Adams is in Europe, Billy Talent will already have come through town, The Hip are obviously out of the picture. Of course Blue Rodeo will be there. Maybe The Weeknd (missp?). I'm surprised they've never mined the wealth of b-level retro Canadian acts like Trooper, Loverboy, April Wine, David Wilcox, Platinum Blonde, Honeymoon Suite...that sort of thing. I'm not saying they should, but they've gotta go down that road eventually, no?

I haven't heard the new Daniel Lanois album yet, but I bet when I do it'll become a favourite.

Wow, that took, like, forever.

Never even heard of it.

It was probably about twenty hours long before the first edit. Basically no other crowd in the world would entertain the idea of a four-hour movie like the Deadheads. Good news for the director. I bet most film makers would love to put out movies this long but the studios (via the audiences) insist on cutting more and more. Remember that scene in the directors cut of Apocalypse Now where they encounter the Playboy bunnies? I've often thought how much it must have sucked to have acted in such a major film and had your entire scene cut out. And of course the director shot it because he thought it was important, and yet...cutting room floor.

Took me a minute to get "Vanierian". It's fun to pronounce.
