  1. welcome aboard! block off large swaths of your free time now, you'll be spending them here...but you couldn't ask for a nicer group of folks to waste your free time with... :)

  2. Well said, you evil rodent you. I love Carlos' music, but his flakiness gets a little bit irritating.

I was also at the show that CyberHippie mentioned, and the preachiness was a little hard to take. If not for Rusted Root's mind-blowing performance, and the half of Carlos' show that was really good (as opposed to the other half full of '80s crap) I could have walked away from that one really annoyed.

was that in toronto? i think dr and mrs evil and i went to that show, or one remarkably similar...and carlos can get preachy, but it seems a little over the top to can a guy on accounta not being godly enough.

i had a friend that worked at canada's wonderland and ended up as a backstage usher type for a summer. she's not much on music, and didn't recognize santana when he walked up to her and asked if she would hold his guitar for a moment. she said yes and watched him disappear into a limo with 2 very attractive young women.

someone came along and told her who that just was and asked if they could touch the guitar...she then pieced it together...

  3. as a full on simpsons addict, i'm glad to know that they plan to carry on almost indefinitely, but at the same time the really laugh out loud funny as fack moments are fewer and farther between. that said, it's still about the funniest thing on tv. that, futurama and (guilty pleasure) coronation street are really all that niffermouse and i watch.

and yes that does say coronation street. niffermouse got me hooked when they put in on weeknights. if it were animated it would be perfect :)

  4. who wallpapers anymore anyway?

NOT ME! It was a really old man' date=' married for over 50 years who gave us that advice.

I hate wall paper. The house we bought was covered in it... finally got the bulk of it down last month. I think they do it to cover up ugly holes and dents in the walls... because we discovered MANY.

and by the way, STRIPPING wallpaper is a healthy stress release for couples to do together.[/quote']

we bought a 130 + year old house that had wallpaper everywhere. taking it down was fine at first, but by the third room it was no longer a healthy stress release :) we got through it though, and onjoy the space that we worked together to improve.

  5. Cool! Consider your resume on the top of the pile. Stay in touch and let us know when you get in town, and we'll be sure to set up a jam.

Anyone else interested in playing some Dead on the keys with Rose Garland (or knows someone that might be right for the job)? We pay well... :)

    Chuck

p.s.: Hey Tim, I hear that you've been dabbling on the piano. Get to work on that Slipknot... ;)

there's dabbling, then there's Slipknot :) give me five years :) and hey kookycanooky, we'll havta talk when you get to town, that is if chuck doesn't snatch you up first :)

  6. mileage is the killer in a lease. if you think you'll be under the limit and are self emplyed then you may very well net out leasing.

talk to a tax guy/accountant. we have a guy that we've been going to for years, when the last car came up he did some math for us and showed us that buying waqs the way to go. your mileage may vary :)

  7. I'm a veg, though never thought I could go vegan and give up cheese (especially) and eggs, until I read this line in a great book (The Pig Who Sang to the Moon)

something like: no other species chooses to eat the "menstrual product" of another. Why do we?

Sorry if that grosses anyone out as much as it did me. I love a great omlette with shrooms & swiss, but I'm definitely eating fewer of them than I once did!!

that was an amazing book, thanks deb & dr evil! sure got my attention, particulalrly the bit about eating another animal's menstrual product. bradm is right, others do it too, but, well, ewww!

i heard someone who was offered a chicken omelette and replied "Yuck! Mother and daughter together at last!" still chucking about that one...

  8. Just watched The Corporation for the 5th time in days....I have a very faint ray of hope.

Tottally reccomend folks watch this and reccomend it to their friends, relatives, co-workers et...

after all, knowlage is power and everyone can't be truely souless.

we got the dvd on saturday and watched it last night. bloody brilliant! we passed it on to my mother and law who is very keen to see it. i'm about ready to strap a TV to the top of my car and drive around playing it to anyone that will watch...

at least it helps to explain why the hell the world is the way it is...that gives me hope, i think. eventually enough people get mad about the way things are and there's a chance for something better to happen...

  9. hey bouche, how do i invite someone else into a private topic? right after the changeover, one of the options was to "invite someone else in." now the only option i get is to get myself out....

sorry to be complaining, this really is a fabulous thing. i can't imagine how much free time i must have had before mark tonin turned me on to this place :)

  10. Paisley, I'm REALLY happy to hear you made it through to the other side. And it's cool you posted at various points in the coming down -- it's generous of you to share your experiences, especially the ones that can wig you/others out.

This board can be a cool place for "edumication"

indeed. i missed this thread completely, paisley, thanks for sharing. if i ever needed a reason not to do a drug, you've provided it.

    jesus.

how do people function on such a drug? i guess that the point is you don't.

great reading, you're an excellent gonzo journaliast. this place is edumacational!

  11. P.S. not sure if this is the biggest time waster on the planet. Try working in the financial industry. I'm convinced now that the whole industry is just a make work project for slugs like me to distract us from what is really going on while feeding the pockets of those who need their pockets fed the least. Now that's a waste of time :(

okay, best entertaining time waster on the planet :)
