  12. I bought a used desktop PC off some guy and I've just plugged it in the other day. Things were going well with the sound until just this morning when I turned it on. Something is messed up with the audio configuration. Basically its not detecting any audio device or speakers. I don't even have the volume control icon in the bottom right corner! I have my external speakers plugged in to the earphones jack. Can anyone tell me what to do?? I'm tuneless.

  15. You can hear that tune (and others) on his myspace page too. Yeah I haven't met Dave but I've made friends with a lot of Fredricton folks here in Korea and they all seem to know him. Also we're fellow members of an underground society of leisure enthusiasts (QSLS).
  16. Has anyone heard David Myles? He's a singer-songwriter from Halifax, a friend of a friend, and his song "When It Comes My Turn" has been put into the final selections for an International Songwriting Competition.. The coolest part is the judges who judge the songs for the final round: Brian Wilson, Tom Waits, Jerry Lee Lewis and Robert Smith (The Cure)! To have such heavyweights have a critical listen to your tune is victory enough! Anyway, aside from the competition there's also a "people's voice" category that is open to the public.. Cast your vote (hopefully for David Myles)! http://www.songwritingcompetition.com/winners.htm Here's links to David Myles' sites: www.davidmyles.com www.myspace.com/davidmyles www.sonicbids.com/davidmyles

    Helix

http://www.planethelix.com/Schedule.htm Lucky bastards! While we're talkin' Helix again, before I left home I picked up a copy of Brian Vollmer's new book "Gimme An R". A Biography of Helix. Its got some amazing rock and roll tales and definitely worth a read. I've always been disgruntled that Bidini didn't include Helix in "On A Cold Road", as they were one of the hardest working bands in rock & roll in the 80s.
  18. Sweet Scottie, thanks for the report.. I love this stuff too and hope I get to see them again. I've only seen them once, with many of you at the Ottawa Bluesfest 2 years ago. It was possibly the highlight of the fest for me that year! Anyone thoughts on the new album? I've only given it one spin so far, from start to finish, and was pretty turned on to it!
  19. Luckyyyy!! I miss being down there. I didn't go to Rai Lei but I was on Ko Lanta for about 3 weeks. Are you heading that way? If so, I highly recommend eating at The Drunken Sailor, which is in Kantiang Bay. Tell em I sent ya!! And I'd recommend staying at Atcha Hut... Sweet big bungalos right on the beach for under $10 a night, and some of the best sunsets I've ever seen. Don't get scammed by those shit private "VIP" bus companies either!
  20. This Moondata night sounds like the cat's meow!
