  3. Ok now' date=' this it too funny. I thought about posting this a while a go, but never got around too it. I too work with a guy who used to be in Helix. Or, actually, he was their "lighting technician and sound guy". Because I feigned interest once, hes told me numerous stories and kept me updated as to how they are doing. He even told me a hilarious story of not too long ago when they got their old drummer back, they played one gig and he got stolen away to Europe by Saga's manager. Then, as if thats not enough Helix in my life, Im in a completely different city at a tiny warehouse picking up some parts for my work when the counter guy smoothly drops the fact that he used to be in Helix. Really, I say. What instrument did you play? To which he replies, almost verbatum to what the other guy said, "oh, I didnt really play an instrument, I was their sound and ligthing guy." No shit, eh? I know this other guy... One of them is lying...but why? All this leads me to believe that theres this conspiracy in Southern Ontario between aging sound and lighting guys that allows them to "Helix" people. Cuz really, who would ever call a guy out for being in the band Helix? No one cares enough. Except for me. I will no longer stand for people pretending to have been in a crappy band. By the way, I was once in the band Moist. oh, and as Bubbles says, "I aint given no fuckin 'R'" [/quote'] While I strongly disagree with your comments regarding the quality of Helix's product, any Helix related story is much appreciated.. Although I don't know where those guys get off saying they were IN Helix when they weren't. Helix have always been one of my favourite bands, but I've been unfortunate in catching them live.. Only time I saw them was at the pre-game show at Brian Timmis Stadium before a Ticats Vs. Argos game.
  4. Woah woah woah woah woah slow down!! Who??
  5. Hmm, I don't give Fox News much credibility, but I've sometimes wondered what the legalities are of making mixes and distributing mixes. I'm not making any profit so it should be fine I would think. 1&Hair, the dub is only for the first few tracks pretty much!
  6. I love it when JSB rocks the random small towns.

  11. So, we ended up taking the Greyhound.. Slept all the way to Belleville then slept some more. The bus to Hamilton stops in Toronto, and so we found ourselves in Toronto at 10:10pm on a Monday night.... There's only one proper thing to do in a situation like that and we knew it! So we were off to the Orbit Room for Sisters Euclid. There was a wedding reception going on that night, for this older couple who apparently have been coming to Mondays at the Orbit for like 9 years. The 1st set was short but killer. Our plan was to take off at this point and catch the last GO bus back to the Hammer.. Then who walks by me but HARRY f'n MANX! I shat my pants then scrambled to find a place to crash in TO that night in order to stay for 2nd set. It worked out. Unfortunately Harry didn't sit in (he didn't bring an instrument and he "would feel awkward singing while standing up"), but it was a thrill for me to chat with him for a few minutes and tell him how much his music means to me. Woooo! Left last Thursday and just got home an hour ago. A road trip to remember!
  12. Hey skanks, Downey and I are looking for a ride from Ottawa to southern ONT today.. Thought I'd check in here to see if theres anyone heading that way. I can't believe its $80 to take the Greyhound Ottawa to Hamilton! We can pitch on gas and coffees and nuglets and great company and all that of course.
  13. It was a damn good weekend! Great to see so many of you once again. I'm still gathering up my brains this morning. Thanks Nero for two great nights of music and for bringing everyone together. 2nd night especially was off the hook! Also thanks 40 Main for being great hosts.
  14. Hey Luke, its no coincidence as I was going through something similar when I put that mix together. At least half the songs speak to that, in one way or another, even if its just a few strong lines in the lyrics. Hang in there man; I'm so glad these tunes can help. All that you are is all that you give. I love to see someone connect with the songs that move me most.
  15. They're two friends of mine who I know from when I used to work summers up in Lake Of Bays.. Awesome heartfelt musicians and good dudes all around. They used to be in a band called Boyce's Road.. BR were a solid rock band. Josh the keyboardist in FatCats used to collaborate with them a fair bit. Then Matthew Page (brother of BNL's Steven Page) joined the band and they veered in the direction of power-pop. They recorded with Bob Lanois in Hamilton but it was a direction I couldn't really follow as much (although they gained a steady following and BR's definitely worth checking out). BR split up and now Bryan and Eric just do their own thing. www.princebrothersmusic.com I'm glad you asked! Oh and they're playing in Toronto: Friday, February 2, 2007 @ The Cameron House 484 Queen St. W. Toronto, Ont. w/ special guests
  16. I'm sold! Think I'll grab a copy tonight.
  17. I got 'em! I have a feeling that there is considerable skipping on those cds, which sucks, but I don't know how to fix it. Its not the cds, its the files themselves. The files have been violated electronically in many ways in the process of making their way to the final Cuts - since I don't know what the hell I'm doing really. I made #23 in August but I haven't gotten around to posting it online yet.. Will do in the next month or two though. More to come too! Kev's Cuts Vol. #21 1. Face The Sun (Africa) - Madlib 2. 19. Oops, I stand corrected.. And I *hate* folk music!
  20. I wouldn't be surprised if it sold out.. At least the first one. I think there'll be lots of buzz about AoH in the next few weeks. Woolly Leaves is the side project (or maybe main project now) of one of the guys in The Deadly Snakes.
