  1. I'm not familiar with the 'free from' brand of products, but so true. We all live with E. Coli, as do most animals, and not only do we get along well with it, but we probably benefit from it. The virulent strains that make us and cattle sick need not happen or be allowed to replicate as quickly as they do. Grain finished beef is a false economy.
  2. Unfortunately, I can't top that. Your Friday beats mine. For better or for worse.
  3. CBC just ran a pretty interesting documentary ("Michael Jackson: what really happened"). Despite the titillating title, it seems relatively balanced. Produced by a self-professed die-hard MJ fan. It isn't all about the kids, either. He delves into what was going on with the military uniforms, what was going on with all that money dumped into Neverland, etc..

    Drunk Asparagus

You stole my heat. I totally thought this was going to be a Lambert related thread.
  5. (and for the record, I sort of suspect that MJ was too innocent a soul to have diddled anyone. I think we are going to find out one way or the other now, though. And again, it is going to be hard to tell the truth from the lies)
  6. The picture above made me laugh and laugh (sorry MJ) but: I don't disagree. There was never any evidence of MJ doing any wrong, except for his own admissions about minor transgressions (if you can even call them that) about liking to share his bed with young boys. Whether he ever defiled anyone, we won't know until anybody tells us. Billie Jean is still the best song ever recorded.
  7. True. And in fact, more generally, I think that anytime anybody is accused of anything they are instantly and forever guilty. But fame is fame, and it certainly amplifies the gossip. Morbid as it is to say, I think that now that he is gone we will see two things: 1) People who want a few dollars making unfounded allegations against him, 2) People whose lives have been dashed on the rocks coming forward, if there are any such victims. It will be very difficult to tell the two apart. I don't think it unfathomable that Jackson did do some of the things that he is accused of having done. Abuse begets abuse, and that is an ugly dangerous cycle.
  8. Slice it. Dice it. Slap all of your troubles away. You're going to love my nuts! (For those not as intrigued with Vince's selling techniques, my apologies) Twitter says: Twitter never lies. *You* could love the internet *too*. Think about it.
  9. Happy pride! Wear it proud, fuck the critics.
  10. Thriller would be rad and timely. If the whole Michael Jackson dying thing hadn't happened, I would have said Electric Warrior. Turn a new batch of kids on to Bolan.
  11. Word on the street is that www.deadmichaeljacksonjokes.com is averaging 400 hits a minute. #4 in the Google results for 'dead michael jackson' Keep it coming folks.
  12. Looking like we might be adding Walter Cronkite to the list shortly
  13. http://www.deadmichaeljacksonjokes.com/ Enjoy.
  14. This made me smile, despite the horrible news. RIP MJ. Billie Jean is still the best song ever recorded and the only song guaranteed to make me dance.

    US recession?

USD looks very wobbly right now.
  16. YT read me right - I think that Ignatieff comes across as more capable, and that plays into his favour vis a vis Dion, but I did mean on the gut personal level. Dion is a hard guy to dislike, even if you don't want to vote for him. Ignatieff is a much easier guy to vote for, even if he gives you the creeps.

    Lobster

On second thought, the fact that I see a discussion about lobster prices and my first thought is "that is an excellent example of backwardation in practice" makes me realize that I'm either not having enough sex or just not getting out enough generally. Sigh. Ask me if I want a time machine.

    Backwardation and contango.
  19. Ignatieff is a much easier guy to dislike than Dion, that's for sure. Got to agree that I did get a bit of a guilty chuckle out of the newest. I really dislike this trend towards attack ads outside of election cycles, though.
  20. Guy I work with swears by the M-Audio interfaces for his macs, FWIW
  21. Not better, but different. (and speaking of Garageband, [self-promotional SPAM] I just made my first attempt at a podcast through Garageband .. it turned out terribly: http://www.sowthewind.org/ohandgee-small.mp3 [/self-promotional SPAM)).
  22. I totally didn't. You guys rule.
