  1. You might want to scan for a key-logger as phishtaper mentioned, although it's interesting that it only happens here. I'd suggest watching for the patterns (the cause-and-effect stuff). The path to the solution from the problem is hastened by the details.

    dog farts

I wonder if it is the same for dogs on raw meat (like the humorously named BARF diet) vs. kibble? I find carbovores -- the beer and bagel types -- of humans are pretty darn stinky and gassy too. The fast eating makes a lot of sense though, too. Swallowing air. Luckily my dog is mostly flatulence free, but she does occasionally have her days. I don't feed her anything special, just 'decent' kibble stuff. But she's pretty tiny so I might just not notice most of the time. I do love that when she farts she scares herself and looks around for the source of that strange noise. She's a dummy. Much hilarity.
  3. If you meant 'juicier', then yeah If you meant this: then it honestly never crossed my mind ...
  4. Which browser (and version)? Does it happen when you've just freshly fired up your browser and have no other windows/tabs open, or only when you've been on the web for awhile? Any difference that you notice when you've freshly booted up vs. when you're system has been on for awhile? Are you running any anti-virus suite or ad-blocking software? You mention that the problem happens when you respond to a post. Are you using the 'Quick Reply' at the bottom of the thread, or are you hitting the 'Reply' button and then adding your post? Beyond that, do you still experience the same problem if you do the opposite of whichever one of those that you do?

    New Cookbooks

Haha, totally true, but I get a kick out that sort of thing .. the geek in me, I'm sure. It seems to vary from season to season -- at times his show is/was practical, at other times it was a total food-science geek fest, and sometimes it was about engineering bizarre solutions to (sometimes straightforward) problems. All of those appeal to me. At its best I think it struck a decent balance, although there were times for sure where it veered off more heavily in one direction.
  6. So sorry to hear this. Stay strong. Much love.
  7. Enemas rule, particularly of the coffee variety. I missed the initial thread entirely. Damn. "Worrying about vitamin D toxicity is like worrying about drowning while you are dying of thirst"

    New Cookbooks

I guess we'd classify that as an 'uncook book', which I think still counts. Food books are food books, and that looks pretty cool. Wow! This is suddenly what I wish I'd gotten for xmas but didn't. I love the shit out of Alton and Good Eats. Have one of his other books. SolarGarlic's also looks like something I'd want to thumb through.
  9. Happy happy kiddos!
  10. Indeed. Worst NYE in Ottawa ever? Where is Nero when you need them?

    Fill in the blanks

Damn it, I missed this thread when it was first about, apparently. Looks like fun .. wish I was lucid enough to re-vive it, but it is worth a bump. 1. Although hearing of them, I have never really listened to any Wilco. 2. Sure, Tool is quite famous, but I just don't get it. (That's for you, Low Rent) 3. I don't care what anybody says, Prince is fucking awesome (first track off the Gold Album .. are you kidding me??) 4. The Stooges redefined music for me, man. 5. 5- fuÇk the Casbah! Came across this thread while searching for this because I wanted to see that hot beatbox chick again. I did spontaneously bust out a killer version of Billie Jean, complete with bass, drums, vocals (all acapella) and killer belt-grabbing MJ feet-shuffling moves a few weeks ago, much to my own surprise. Velvet, I will take one of those shirts if you've gotten them made. I already have a t-shirt that says "I love it when my Tourettes is in context" on the front and "WANKERS!" on the back and a "I am Not Barking Mad I have Got Tourettes" button. Keep the paraphernalia coming. Happy xmas eve all ... just hours to go.

    Preserving

Ohhh, gotcha now! I've re-read your post and managed to follow the plot this time
  13. This thread started off 'fun' and suddenly became 'SUPER FUN!'. Sorry Gentlemonkey.
  14. Addendum: fighting c-towns over xmas is probably still better than standing outside of the reception hall of Ms. Hux and Bouche's wedding demanding that someone try to punch me in the face. I suppose that may, in fact, be my holiday tradition.
  15. Erm ... I think not. Long story. But hope to run into you soon! We can chill or duke it out, either one. I knew it! (though the details remain vague)
  16. Haha! Yes, yes. Although, I thought that you'd started it. Shows how good my memory is. For me it is all about watching Christmas Vacation with my sisters after the old people pass out. I see that Birdy has that on her list as well ( minus my super cool sisters )

    Preserving

Not too into fruit, but this 'spreads to pickles and salsa's' that you speak of has me intrigued. I never would have thought of a dehydrator for that sort of stuff. Elaborate? (with thanks)

    Preserving

Also, I should say that if you want it really hot & spicy, you can use red pepper flakes or chili powder, or cut up chili peppers. I tend to use a 'fire' blend that has cayenne, ginger, black pepper, curry spices, chili powder, paprika, horseradish, wasabi, cinnamon, and a whole lot of other wild stuff. But I find that I don't add spiciness very often as the onion, radish, and ginger do a pretty good job on their own, and since I so often eat it with the (rather hot) mustard, it isn't needed. And sometimes you want it kind of muted as a side-dish or as an addition to something else.

    Preserving

I do it differently all the time, but the one that I like best and always go back to is: cabbage, carrot, shallots or onion, radish, ginger Amounts vary depending on mood. Slice everything really thin, pack into a mason jar, create a brine solution (I just do this by taste .. it should be slightly saltier than appetizing, but not so much that it is gross), pour over the veggies leaving at least an inch or so at the top. You will get evaporation, so more liquid is better. Leave on the counter for two or three days (the temperature of your place will be a factor here) until it is nice and bubbly, move to the fridge/cold storage for a week or two, and then enjoy If you are able to forget that it is in the fridge for a month or so, even better .. it improves over time. I personally suck at that, though. I *love* this with thin rice crackers, a slice of sharp cheddar cheese, mixed greens, a little bit of sliced turkey breast [for the non-vegetarians], and some d_rawk special blend mustard [see below] Mustard: I do various different ones. Some are plays off of commercial mustards like French's, some are fermented with something like whey, this one is pretty easy and the one I find making the most lately. It lasts pretty much indefinitely. 2 cups yellow mustard seeds, soaked overnight ½ cup Apple Cider Vinegar (could try with white wine vinegar instead or a mix, I just stick with what works) 1 tsp. tumeric ½ tsp. sea salt Mix all ingredients in a blender or a food processor to desired degree of smoothness. Thin with additional vinegar or some water if necessary. Optionally stir in some whole mustard seeds. If you wanted to get really saucy, this is the fermented one and more in line with the topic of preservation: 1 1/2 cup (4 ounces) ground mustard 1/2 cup filtered water 2 tablespoons whey 2 teaspoons sea salt juice of 1 lemon 2 cloves garlic, mashed 1 tablespoon honey (optional) 2 tablespoons whole mustard seeds (optional) Mix all ingredients together until well blended, adding more water if necessary to obtain desired consistency. Place in a pint-sized jar or two 8-ounce jars. The top of the mustard should be at least 1 inch below the top of the jar. Cover tightly and keep at room temperature for about 3 days before transferring to cold storage. This one is really, really hot! (Like in the mouth-burning kind of way, not the Paris Hilton kind of way) but it mellows over time.
  20. Agreed. I want that watch (but don't have yours). Here's hoping that you stumble across it, mate.
  21. Sweet, thanks for the links. I'm excited as shit to listen to this. I like this use of 'sir'. Shades of Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes.
  22. This seems awesome. Is it uncouth to ask if anyone has a d/l link? I promise to buy it if I like it
