  1. This is certainly true, though I'd say foreign often = good, because usually only the good films get imported. I saw Let the Right One In the other day and it was awesome.
  2. I thought it was a pretty good movie. Funny and cute. Stepbrothers sucked, but the other recent John C. Reilly movie, The Promotion, was pretty good.
  3. I'm with Boiler Rat. The opposition parties are not trying to steal power, they're trying to make the CP recognize that a minority government means sharing power and building consensus to get things done. All this talk of a coalition is a way of sending Harper a message that he can't make everything a confidence vote and govern as if he has a majority. I wish this had happened in Harper's first term.

  5. Last night she had a bass player, a drummer, and a vibraphone/percussionist. It was a good show, but it wasn't the best band she's played with. They could have used a horn or a piano or something. She did a half dozen songs on her own as well.

    pork tenderloin

I made pork tenderloin with pears in mustard-port sauce the other day and it was fucking awesome.
  7. I'm going to see her tonight in Montreal. Last time I saw her play was fourteen years ago.
  8. I've got this on now. I never tire of this album.
  9. It sounds similar to the bulk of their albums but didn't catch my attention the way that previous albums have. Download it before you buy it.... I think it spans all of their sounds reasonably well. It's not 100% funky' date=' and it's not 100% experimental either. I've only listened to it twice, and while it is (of course) very good, it hasn't bowled me over yet. But then, maybe it a grower, not a shower. Time will tell. [/quote'] Downloading it now. I asked because I thought this was their children's album, which it isn't. Anyone heard Let's Go Everywhere?
  10. I jammed with Chris Thile once. He's a monster. I also love Warren Ellis.
  11. Fife n Drum -- The Rhythm and Truth Brass Band
  12. I thought it was alright too. It's meant to be a family movie, so you can't expect too much.
  13. Blueberry balsamic dressing? Tell me more.

    pork tenderloin

I wondered that too. My guess is that it's because you're meant to use pearl onions, which maybe wouldn't cook completely if you just fried them whole (?). I used cippolini onions which are a little bigger than pearls, so I followed the boiling instructions and they turned out great. I wonder though if you could just roast the onions with the other veggies to save a step.

    pork tenderloin

I just made this maple glazed pork tenderloin and can heartily recommend it. I had it will these veggies.
  16. I recently made this meal with kale and it was both tasty and easy to make. Kale is also nice in minestrone soup. I love beets in any form. I often have them roasted or boiled and served with horseradish cream or chevre.
  17. Just made a squash and pear soup. 1 lb butternut squash 1 lb sweet potato 1 cinnamon stick 2 cups veg stock 1 1/2 cups water 3/4 tsp salt Peel, seed and dice the squash and sweet potato. Put everything in a big pot and simmer for 40min until tender. Remove cinnamon stick when finished. 2 tbsp butter 2 medium onions, sliced 3 pears, peeled, cored and sliced 1/3 cup white wine 1/4 cup blend cream white pepper to taste In a frying pan melt the butter and add the onions. Cook gently until the onions start to caramelize. Add the pears and cook for 5min, then add the white wine; cover and simmer for 10min. Add the onion and pear mixture to the squash and sweet potato mixture. Puree, then add the cream and pepper. Done.
