  1. i sense she'd be more likely to put something in your mouth, than you in hers.
  2. i think comparisons to the autobahn and roads in flat open montana are a bit misleading because the 400 series of highways in ontario are generally cut out of unbarricaded woodlands where deer, etc. can, and do, run out at any time, and where the roads follow the natural contour of the landscape, often creating some tricky turns. our highways are filled with the unexpected - weather, wildlife, layout, as well as other drivers. i sense the justification for labeling speeds above 150 as "dangerous" is based on the idea that when you are going that fast, you have next to no time to react to the unexpected. can some people drive quite safely at those speeds? yes. but personally, i would rather not be in the car next to the guy driving his bitchin' bimmer like a bat out of hell when a deer runs out on the road. and when driving on urban highways, the obvious unexpected "obstacles" are the thousands of other tightly grouped cars all around you. as far as 100 being too slow. i think by convention, police have already raised the limit by acknowledging that the average flow is around 120, and they do not generally ticket you for going that fast. 120 is safe to deal with the unexpected, 150 is not, even for the best of drivers. raising the posted limit to 120 would only encourage people to raise the conventional limit, to say 140 or so, which would become dangerous for everyone. or, would people rather raise the posted limit to 120 and then have cops / photo radar / whatever ticket every car that goes above 120? the result would be the same traffic flow at 120, i sense, but huge headaches to enforce and live with, so a net loss overall.
  3. wow. do you believe every stereotype on the planet? yeah, some of us like chocolate dip.
  4. or, just play it as normal. this is a countdown, so the last song is THE best. but, people can screw with the order, thats all.

  7. yes, this is a hopeful possibility, although unlikely given the industrial machine behind the man. but stranger things have happened when personal legacy becomes a factor. now, who was that guy who invented dynamite and then decided to give money away so people wouldnt remember him as the guy who invented dynamite?
  8. this is an excellent decision on the part of Nobel and signals the fact that we really do have an emergency on our hands right now, and hopefully it not too late. perhaps this might help to quell the idiotic contention that the IPCC is a sham, and that global warming is not real. the new IPCC Synthesis Report is due out next month, and preliminary findings released thus far indicate that things are even worse than we have thought. it's not just about melting polar ice. its about drastically changing the way we live on this planet.
  9. mmmmmmm, maggot cheese. great first date appetizer. of course, I'd recommend a nice Riesling but these kids appear to be enjoying a Merlot and a Zinfandel, which are perfectly acceptable too.

  11. [color:purple]but, what constitutes a family? will same-sex couples be required to work if Tory gets in in 2011? how about women who cannot naturally conceive? Kudos, Dalton. I'll take it, but the name is pretty lame. I think he should have just called it Can't be Bothered to Haul My Sorry Ass Out of Bed on a Cold (albiet increasingly warmer) Winter's Day Day.
  12. when i saw the post, i assumed she was suing their insurance company, as is all too normal in the US and that this was simply a legal maneuver. that may still be the case, but her lawyer's comments are beyond insensitive. wow. un-frikin-believable.
  13. is that dude waiting for a bus? fwiw, i voted green and for mmv. in guelph, the results are around Libs: 41% Cons: 24% Green: 20% NDP: 14% MMV: 45% i think only Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound had a higher Green vote at 33%. provincially, they picked up about 8% overall with more than 10% in southwestern and central regions. pretty good considering they had less than 3% provincially in 2003.
