  1. i always feel the most content when i know there's ocean/lake/trees/mountains nearby... that said, living in downtown ottawa offers a different kind of "wildlife" [har-har]. victoria was my ideal place to live [barring somewhere in the tropics]. all the benefits of living in a city, very little traffic. not the *most* exciting place, but vancouver was within reach, albeit not the easiest to get to. and the best part - warm weather, great hikes and beautiful pacific coastline always just minutes away. bliss! i think it would be fun to have a little farm-y thing someday, with some little subsistence crops and some horses, chickens, etc. ... also a bookstore.. and a music store. a farm/bookstore/musicstore. fun to dream
  2. i remember backbacon introducing me to brave new waves when i was in the 10th grade... i don't think i have listened to it since, though. guess i shoulda.
  3. speaking of dirty baked goods! do any of the Otowners out there have a picture of the cake Maggie baked for Jordave-O? that was some talent! wow now the messages have a spell-check feature.. niiiice.
  4. heh! i wish you were right beats. i was lucky enough to spend five years in vic and i have to say, i was always jonesing for live music there. i did get more interested in electronica, and if you're at all into that then 'hush' is a great place to go, i have many fond memories of that place. 'steamers' had cool shows as did 'lucky' - not sure if lucky is still around but it was a neat, funky little spot with live acts to suit many different musical tastes. lucky is right downtown, close to the harbour. have you been to pagliacci's? it's a really yummy italian restaurant, also right downtown. they have live music some nights, later in the evening. my old guitar teacher used to play there. they used to do lots of fun swing-y stuff, worth going in for dinner to catch some of that. keep your ear to the ground for 'the bills' as well. they are a very, very talented bunch, lots of bluegrassy songs. although i missed seeing live music when i lived in vic, i looooved living there. have fun
  5. that totally felt like a family reunion. holy crapoly i had fun. now what the heck am i going to do until tonight's show? i have ants in my pants... though the anticipation is nice, too.
  6. coincidentally, i was telling my students about guantanamo yesterday. they were shocked, and had some wonderfully naive questions, "miss, how are they allowed to do that?" "can't someone sue them?" "why don't they just leave?" [that one a little more than naive perhaps ] *sigh* sooo fucked up.
  7. happy belated mr. cool ice! soooo stoked for tonight!!
  8. is it pronounced 'nut'? my students would love to hear about that.

    Love songs

'I Can Feel It' is the name' date=' and you're right, it's great [/quote'] ahh, right. i wasn't confident i had the correct title. another one i thought of, not so much a lovey-dovey song but "i'll be your man", by the black keys does something to me... something about that guitar tone which i find incredibly sexy!
  16. digweed! unfortunately digweed wasn't there, but the first big DJ i ever saw was sasha, for the airdrawndagger tour. what fun that was

  18. did anyone notice? it's SEVEN SLEEPS TIL NERO! i even had a quiet new years, saving up my energies for this one.
  19. am i a cocky instigator? i thought that was mcgarnical... and you're right, everybody's choice of verbal expression is different. so, if my choice of verbal expression were to be, 'hey, look at those niggers holding hands!' would that be okay, too? i'm sorry if the 'PC shit gets boring.' that's a real shame. anyway, this was not meant to be a fight. just trying to make a point, and chameleon and i have already chatted it out in the PMs.
  20. good vibes guys! hope to see you both next weekend.
  21. gives a whole new meaning to "two-faced" ... eek!
