  1. Why'd the chicken cross the road ... ... ... to get to the other side
  2. I wonder what the parents of a missing child would say if they'd had the chance to put a locating device into the child and thus gotten the child back (rather than the usual raped and killed, sorry if that's harsh). By the way, I'm not for or against, don't really care, just had the thought. I'd also like to apologize deeply to sarah and deeps for my part in the hijacking of this thread and potential negativity to what should be an incredibly positive story.
  3. Funny thing is, I was really just describing a cell phone. Most people have them, they broadcast info constantly (into my brain without my permission I might add) and who knows what they actually broadcast.
  4. Woooooooo Hooooooooooooo, go myth!!! I work until 10pm and I think they get on at 9:50 (according to them anyway, according to 88.5 they're on fourth so it should be later). I'll probably miss the show but I'm hightailing it down there as fast as humanly possible when I get off on the off chance that I can catch the last few minutes of the show. These guys are great.
  5. I wouldn't care personally, not if it was that kind since they'd have to be within inches to scan me and by that time I'm already caught doing whatever I did that was wrong and since there's nothing coming from it and it contains no power, it's no big deal. All it has is an identification number and since I carry around my wallet full of numbers and things that can be scanned to get all sorts of info about me, it's not that big of a deal. Also, I'm not an animal, they don't have a clue and it could save their life.
  6. also, the microchip isn't really active, it's passive or inert meaning it does absolutely nothing until the scanner is passed over it. This means that it's not actually dangerous to the animal unless the vet screws up and somehow puts in a dirty one causing an infection. The chip itself being inserted is pretty much the equivalent of putting a large plastic grain of rice into the animal. I think they're great. If they had a power source and continuously broadcast a signal, I might think differently. Even if these were implanted in humans, a scanner would have to be passed within inches of it to be able to actually detect the thing and extract info from it, it couldn't actually constantly monitor where someone is. Now, are "they" developing something like that that is active and that broadcasts a location and info? Who knows but that would be scary.
  7. I would happily do it and I don't understand what a big deal it is (yeah, yeah, I know all the stuff you might say but with all the cars and crappy drivers out there, what are a few zambonies at night?)

    Robot Chicken

never heard of it but I like samurai jack Edit: I mentioned it here at work and all of a sudden I now have the entire first season on the laptop. gotta love technology (or hate it but I love it)
  9. Good job guys. I agree with the microchiping, it's painless (well, none of my animals exhibited any sort of pain). There's a story I read, I think I got the link from here but I can't find it. Nevertheless, the story was about a dog from like ontario that got found on the east coast or in europe or something (yeah, yeah, vague but so's my memory, hehe) so I don't think it's a bad idea. Hehe, my cats back home love to go for walks. If they're outside and you take the dog, they'll trot along beside you no matter how far you go. I always wondered why, since cat's are mostly solitary creatures. I wonder if they have some sort of identity crisis when living with dogs and adopt some of the pack mentality. Or I have some strange cats, who knows but it's neat. They don't like horses.
  10. If you're in ottawa: Mr Something Something Saturday, Nov 25 Hull, QC Depanneur Sylvestre (9 Fortier St.)
  11. Thanks sunshine. I think slavetothegroove and I will be wondering around this weekend handing out some clothes. What a marvelous idea. I've got two of the girls at work here bringing me jackets and perhaps some other stuff. I love this because there's no middle man/woman who needs to get paid so the clothes will for sure make it to someone who needs them. The salvation army et al don't do a bad job but some folks just can't afford to buy them or make it to a shelter to get something. We might just bring out a bag of fruit too, who knows. If you're in Ottawa and feel like a nice little walk sometime this weekend, doing a good deed at the same time, just drop a line on here.
  12. Yeah to paisley. My balance is terrible, I forget words constantly and am always nervous around cops, whether I've done something or not (Almost every time I get pulled over or stopped by cops they ask why I'm so nervous but 99% of the time there's no real reason). I also smoke all the time and would hate to lose my license (and probably passport) because I smoked two days before. If there's no definate test then I don't understand how this can possibly pass, it is very unconstitutional and just downright wrong. Then again, we are becoming much more american here which means we have to get used to the whole police state idea and lack of privacy or rights so there's not much I can do
  13. it's working fine now I think (well, I get your form where I can put in the deal I want bashed). Good job on this too Edit: I tried to send you a message with the contact sheet and got "Sorry, Method not allowed" (yahoo 405 error). I tried the request deal page and it works just fine I think (no errors and I got the confirmation). You can ignore the request I sent, it has "NOT LOOKING FOR DEAL, JUST TESTING FORM" as the deal request.
  14. I need to post again because I forgot to mention that this is a wicked idea and that I will definitely do it. Sunshine, you rock and I wish there were many, many more of you in this world. (((((((Hugs to all)))))))
  15. Hehehe, yeah, that happened to me like slavetothegroove said above. The guy didn't want the food at all and it had nothing to do with not being able to eat, he wanted money for the next score. I think we're absolutely horrible here in ottawa towards our homeless people. Some folks here actually even had this idea of building a train downtown costing a billion dollars. I bet if they took 1 million of that the city could easily put up all the homeless people and also try to get the addicted ones some help but hey, that's not the world we live in. Fuck those that are less fortunate than me right? I don't believe that but from my observations, quite a few people do so I won't dignify the statement with sarcastic purple.
  16. My support for the troops is a little different. See, I fully support our troops themselves as they're my country's sons and daughters but what I definitely don't support is what they're doing. I like canadian troops doing things like peace-keeping and defensive actions but NEVER offensive unless we ourselves have been attacked and direct action is required. I don't in the least bit support those in office making the decisions about this (it actually disgusts me quite deeply) nor do I support seeing things like spending billions on army and death and cutting programs like the money the government used to give to employers so that they could afford to hire summer students (according to the newspaper at school here there's millions being cut from that as it doesn't bring in any revenue so it's a waste or something on those lines). Here and here
  17. I went to the page and it comes up with "Welcome to mynewslink.com" is it supposed to do that?
