Mulligan was rockin it out at geomouses barn party last year. Very tasty and talented guitar player. That little orange that he has is one of the coolest sounding amps out there imho.

I remember thinking something similar to this many years ago when I first heard the name. Slipfish is the songwriting team of Chris Wright (lyrics) and Chris Mulligan (music). Both of them are friends and both of them have been to Jamland. I've played with Mulligan a couple of times at Jamland as part of The Chris Mulligan Band. But that was maybe 5 years ago. Chris Wright is a teaching colleague (English teacher) and yes, I could imagine him coming off as ornery in certain situations. I say that with no disrespect and I think he would agree. The two of them have written 5+ albums worth of material together; 1 that is totally done, 1 that is done except for mastering, 1 that still needs to be mixed and mastered, and 2 more with songs sketched out. Somewhere between 50 and 100 songs in total. Really good songs. Not to mention all of Chris Mulligan's solo material and his work with others. He has not played very much at all publicly in the past 5 years, but I've been speaking with him over the past few months and he is fired up to play live again. He is one of the most talented musicians I've had the pleasure of playing with; I'm actually getting together tonight with him and Ricky and Dave as he will be joining Neu Tone Voigt at our Kitchener Cork Hall gig.
For Jamland I'm not sure yet whether he will be doing a solo looping thing (I just heard him do this and it sounded very cool) or whether he will have others join him or whether we will blend some of his stuff with Neu Tone Voigt. But I'm happy to have him back in the Jamland fold as he brings a lot to the table. We are also using at least one Slipfish song in the Jamland documentary that was written specifically with Jamland in mind, and the song totally compliments the cool video clip and animation that Rob Waldeck has created and it blows my mind every time I see and hear how well the video and audio match each other!
I feel fortunate to have connected with so many talented musicians over the years!

    True.
The tight collective is part of what makes it so special. Another big part of the jamland is the actual piece of magical property it is on. It can only handle so many people. I hope that the doc goes absolutely viral but I certainly hope everybody that sees it doesn't show up. There is always first timers there, which is great but too many at one time would be scary. Not sure if I'm expressing myself properly here. It's just the best.

Jamland doesn't need promotion. It's an invite only type thing and I'm sure it gets as many people as it needs, although it is always great to see new faces added to the jamland family. My oldest boy has been a staple of Jamland since the beginning and is something he is always so excited to go to.

This is one of the first, if not the first Jamland:

He's been known to spend a lot of time right in front of the stage:
(Harvard Mouse w/ Dan Walsh aka The Beard aka Walshy McBeard)

    The Blurry Strangers:
    (Blurry Pickers/Unseen Strangers)

The year of the puppet show, Jackson and Cohen and I do believe that would be Nitro Compression Cohen has there

(Blurry Pickers -  with Josh from the Fat Cats and Ryan from Diesel Dog)

Being that my little guy is a dancing machine, I can only hope to watch him growing up through Jamland memories and photos also. He's been to one now, before he was walking so the next one he'll be sharing the front of the stage dancing and jamming with his brother and lots of friends,

Playing slow guitar solos are hard to do. Choosing notes, or letting the notes choose you if you will, is a talent that fast-is-the-be-all players and their misguided idiot fans fail to grasp. Also, Jerry was a fast player, but he picked his spots. Some of the Dead's uptempo jams are damn impressive.

Personally, I just love The Grateful Dead. Fast, slow, in-between, happy or sad. What some corporate owned puppet journalist, haters, or even you freaks here on this forum think doesn't mean shit to me in the end, nor will anything change that for me.
Love, like or hate them, there isn't, never was and never will be, anything like the Grateful Dead, and I fuckin love that.
    Cheers.

We make our own as well, though using a different process. It is sort of similar to your second post though. We have a 55g drum, with another smaller canister within it that holds the wood chunks and protects them from any direct contact with flame or open air (which can cause flare-ups). There is only a small vent on the internal canister to allow pressure release but restricts the amount of oxygen to not allow any flame at all. We make the fire in the space (roughly 2-3") directly around the internal canister. The process takes a little to get going, typically we start with hot coals from the fire pit. We've found the charcoal harder, burns a lot longer and evenly using this process.

I'll see if I can find a video of our process, if not I'm get to making one the next time we burn.

I find it an great time waster while sitting around the bonfire at night drinking beer, but over all, time vs money vs amount I can make, I still find it cheaper to stock up on charcoal when it's on sale or in late summer when bag prices drop drastically. I got 15 bags of lump & 15 of briquettes for well under $100. I've also found that when doing long cooks, 6-12hrs, especially during the winter the homemade simply burn too fast and I go through much more of it. Taste wise though, nothing beats the homemade so I save it for shorter cooks within the 3-6 hr range depending on wind, of course, also depending on what I'm cooking, sometimes I'll start with the homemade while I apply smoke, then switch to lump when the window for best smoke retention has passed.

For example: I smoked a 8 lb roast a few weekends before xmas, used roughly a  three quarters of a 16 lb bag of homemade charcoal. Last weekend, in colder temps I did another 8 lb roast using purchased lump charcoal and used less than 1/4 bag. With briquettes I can cook a similar size roast using a single chimney worth.

This would be a good example of our process, though we use a much bigger internal canister. Otherwise the process is pretty much the same except instead of making/starting our fire like he did within the larger drum, we shovel a 3-6" layer of hot coals from the bonfire fire-pit in first then add the wood. Same result, just gets it going a lot faster.

This band is absolutely killing it right now. Their new album If Sorrows Swim (which cracked the Billboard 200 and debuted at #1 on the bluegrass charts) is quite strong, but their live shows are what matters and they are hitting home runs nightly. With Jeff Austin having left Yonder, I feel like GSMFBG is poised to take the title as reigning kings of jamgrass (non-Salmon category).
