    Crosby

Concussions have been the factor in a lot of players calling it quits in the NHL over the years. They are also not all caused by dirty hits, or head shots etc. I really doubt his retiring would make the NHL rethink anything. Only way we'll see no more concussions in hockey would be to make it non-contact. Either that or the equipment should be redesigned.

    Gary Bettman

That simple sentence, and the imagery it projects, in my opinion, nails it. Thanks for the link.
  3. Let me be the first. :clapclap:

  6. I guess by the time they formed in 1991 I was off in my own world with the Dead and such. Not a slag on the band, just thought it weird I hadn't heard of them before today.
  7. Here's the article from yesterday about there being charges laid. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/Montreal/2011/03/09/17555071.html
  8. Yep. No suspension is weird. I was figuring a couple games. They made a big mistake.
  9. Hmm, kinda weird. Had to look these guys up online. Checked out wiki, and youtube. Can't say I've heard them before, didn't recognize any of the songs on youtube either.
  10. hmm, seems a few of us are celebrating some b-days around/during this run. Should prove to be a bit messy.
  11. I may need to fall off a certain wagon* to keep up now-a-days... * Just a joke, I'm happy on it.
  12. This video is tame compared to part 3 - that one was really out there in comparison if you ask me.
  13. Don't bother me if its not licensed. I'll be drunk for nearly 4 days by the time the Ottawa show rolls around anyhow.
  14. Awesome. DBT playing more tiny Ontario venues. Fuck I love it. Might try my hand at video again for waterloo show. [edit to add] WINNING!
  15. I was really afraid that would be the result. That's a real shame (not being sarcastic), I know the injury and would never wish it upon anyone. I hope his injury pans out better then mine did.
  16. If Chara had kept his arm down, this may or may not have happened, BUT he wouldn't have been making contact with the guys head, which I believe is the cause of most of the out rage over it. But, I can relate about his size. I'm in no way as big as him, not by a chance but I've been the same height (5'11") since I was 13 years old. During my years playing, I was at least a head taller then the majority of the other kids I played with/against up until midget & jr. I took a lot of elbowing penalties, and a lot of grief from my old man (who was a coach) so I learned to keep them down because I knew the ref would call me on it. Chara should know better, in my opinion.
  17. Great setlist. Guess I'll be d/l this one. Any idea who was doin most of the vocals? Thanks for the heads up.
  18. Posted this back in February. I thought it was a great read, didn't garner much interest around here though. http://www.jambands.ca/sanctuary/showtopic

I never realized this mime church stuff was so popular... :dazed:
  20. Not worried about the interference call either, and I would have trouble believing he tried to put his head into the turnbuckle purposely, but, as mentioned I know what a hit like that can do and I really have no tolerance for it, neither should the NHL - I don't really care if it's a B's player either.
  21. That was a really bad hit by Chara, interference is one thing but that's really bullshit. Serious shit right there I tell ya. That's the exact same shit the basically ended my hockey days. I was playing for the Hamilton Huskies AAA team in 1985 (or 86) when they split Hamilton and created an East & West Hamilton Huskie teams - playing the west at the Hamilton Wentworth Triple Rinks (Plus 1 rink) where the Kilty B's play and there is a stretch of boards between the team benches and corners where there is no glass and as you head into the corner the glass starts, exactly like that pic. While I was making my way into the corner I got the same hit, and to top it off, my own center man Steve Gillis (before the team was divided into east/west) who pulled that shit. Basically, long story short, I ended up with 4 fractured lumbar vertebrae and two years later was told by my doctor I should stop playing. Hockey days over
