  1. I'm crankin' my music all the time here at the orfice...my fellow editors are about ready to Keel-haul me!!!

Oh, two weekends ago, The Dexters gave a final farewell gig at The Orbit accompanied by none other than "Big Al" Alex Lifeson and who should join in at the end of the night on guitar but the infamous "Bubbles" from the Trailer Park Boys. Sunday saw James Brown's band with Alicia Keys sitting in with vocals.

I'm lovin' the Orbit Room. It's beginning to look alot like Christmas...except for the lack of white stuff which truth be told, I'm not missing at the moment. It's a balmy 4 degrees and sunny here in T-Dot.

    Cheers,

  2. Holy download mayhem Bouche-man!!! Glad that people are enjoying the shows. Last night they broke out three new tunes for their upcoming CD (they have two in the works, one being the Neil Young Tribute) which they'll be recording in the upcoming month.

Santa is making his North Pole cyberspace appearance at The Orbit next Monday. Always good for a chuckle or two...

Give Bush Hell in O-town Today!!!

    Cheers,

  3. Yes, NERO ROCKS!!! I think it's the best CD Burning Program around....

It was great to be out with the Punk on Friday taking in a great GTB show at the Rivoli. And to top it off Stu Dog made an appearance and it's always fun seeing a show with SD.

There will be some emptiness in the scene when the boys take their break.

    Condor....need I say more???

  4. I've listened to Leo for years. Thank God for whatever college friend of his told him he should play guitar for a living.

Years ago Leo played "Austin City Limits" and told his story of "Bad Jazz". He plays the theme from "Woody Woodpecker" backwards, which he played on ACL, and one of his friends said it sounded "like bad jazz" but hearing this and watching him play it knocks your head off and FUNNY!!!!

  5. Your weekly update of The Sisters Euclide at The Orbit Room.

What can I say about this past Monday? Hmmm, well, as always, when the Sisters have been away and come back, they always, to coin a phrase, "pull out all the stops".

Last week they were in Germany playing the Berlin Jazz Fest and then recorded a tribute album of Neil's stuff which Kevin gave me a listen to the "faders up" mix. So looking forward to adding this to my collection. Funny enough, they recorded this at the same time that Neil was celebrating his birthday....

But one of the best moments of Monday night was when they broke out "Heart of Gold". Not one of my favourite Neil tunes for the fact that I've heard it so many times, but what happened was one of those moments. I had always wanted to see Nero and The Sisters share a night and when they played HOG, that's bacically what happened. Close your eyes and you'd think that it was Nero pumping out Heart of Gold. Just S-I-C-K!!!

I'd just finished a compilation simply called "Sisters Never Rust" and now will have to do a Volume 2 as they also did Love Is A Rose, Southern Man with "Dixie" teased all the way through it. "Helpless" was just smoking and "Tumbleweed Tea" was one of the best I've heard in many months. The "Lowell" closer was sweet, even with a broken E-string.

Can't wait for December to roll around as this is when The Orbit Room is just a sweat lodge with music and smiles for all.

    Cheers,

  6. You are gonna have a blast!!! Don't know if you ride a board or planks, but either way you're gonna be balls deep in some of the sweetest powder that Canada has. Have a great winter and if you need any Sister shows, let me know and I'll send some your way.

    Cheers,

    Can'O'Phish

  7. ABSOLUTELY NO QUESTION...BLIND MELON ROCKED!!! First time I heard them was driving to Portland, Maine, Nov. 9/93 to see the Jerry Garcia Band and they blew me away. One of my favourite shows and roadtrips. Ended up at Sugarloaf after the show and must've listened to their first CD multiple times that trip.

When I heard of his O.D., I was so angry. He had such a phenominal voice and the band was just great.

    Sadly missed...

  8. KUDOS TO THE BOYS!!!! Well deserved. I had the chance to witness the recording of Zedonk in Toronto and Eric's prep for instrument isolation was a feat in itself. From the first bed tracks I could tell it was going to be an enjoyable album. And thanks to Punk who listed me in his "Thanks".

    Boys, you're all gems!!!

  9. Woke up, fell outta' bed...

Looks as though Bush is in for another four years. I guess The Daily Show and comedians throughout the world will have an endless source of material to make us laugh.

And again, I feel so fortunate to be a Canadian, knowing that I can travel to other countries and wear my flag proudly and be welcomed warmly...

  10. Ya, so many songs to pick from but their versions are definitely unique. Nice thing is that they play them well and LOUD just as Neil would and does.

Not sure about the Hamilton show, but do know that they are eager to play at other venues outside of Toronto. Kevin handles the booking for the group.

  11. Well, yet another stellar night @ The Orbit last night. The Sisters are now headed for Berlin for the Berlin Jazz Fest and then off to Radio Bremen to record what is shaping up to be a two disc tribute to Neil Young.

Last night they started things off with "After The Goldrush", "Southern Man", "Harvest", "Needle & The Damage Done" & "Ohio". For good measure they also threw in "Harvest Moon", "Helpless" & "Cinammon Girl". All these gems plus a good helping of their own selections and then a sweet encore of their cover of Gordon Lightfoot's "If You Could Read My Mind".

Rumour has it that The Sisters might be heading up to Ottawa to spread the fun.

    Cheers,

    Can'O'Phish

  12. MY MY, HEY HEY....wasnt' that a freakin' good night at The Orbit?

Absolutely SOLID first set and then Cinammon Girl, Helter Skelter, In My Place thrown in between Mall Fullof Toads, TT, 2 Miles, and not to leave out a different version of Helpless....

    My head is still spinning....

  13. Thanks Bouche for posting this and putting it up on the site. I know that Kevin & The Sisters are very happy to welcomed into the "family" so to speak.

And for those of you like me who love Mr. Young (I even have the honour of sharing the same B-Day as Neil, Nov. 12 for those of you who love me and feel like sending a birthday brew my way ;-), The Sisters are working on a tribute album of Neil's stuff. They're starting to try it out on us lucky ones who get to see this group tear it up every Monday night.

Hope to see more of you there.

    Cheers,

    Can'O'Phish

  14. "Canada's up & coming artist"??? He's hands down one of North America's best guitarits who's just beginning to be recognized for his unique styles acoustically and electrically, and that ain't just my opinion.

For those who haven't seen The Sisters, put on those dancin' shoes and GIDDY UP & GO!!!

Rob, Ian and Gary are smokin' musicians as well. Hope there's a B3 for Rob to groove on. If not, he'll still rock the place.

    Hamilton is gonna groove!!!

    Cheers,

    Can'o'phish
