  1. Hey All, I have 4 tickets for this show, but unfortunately now need to unload all of them as everyone planning on going is heading out of town to work in hospitals outside of Ottawa. If anyone's interested in the tix, I'll give em up for $25 each (less than face). PM me if you want em. Cheers!
  2. I too was one of the handful that caught the Ottawa show at Mercury on Monday. These guys are everywhere in the Mtl scene (Kevin Warren on drums, Kweku singing, etc) and have some serious soul in their step!
  3. Happy b-day brotha....Here's to taking IJ to the top in the next year!

Speaking of which, whatever happened to the Pocket Dwellers. One of the best acts around Canada, but they seem to have disappeared for the last year and a half. Are they done!??! Say it ain't so!
  5. After watching Vanderpark evolve over the past 7 years, I can say these guys have definitely come into their own. On top of that, Kae Sun at Blacksheep a few months ago may have been one of the best shows I've seen in ages (despite the minimal crowd). This show is worth checking out, and surely won't dissapoint!
  6. First time I saw the Trews, my friend dragged me to a show at Le Swmming in Montreal (RIP) about 5 years ago....and I was completely blown away. One of the most energetic live shows I have been a part of (not to mention insanely loud) and tons of fun. I've seen them about 5 or 6 times now, and although I enjoyed the earlier shows a little more, still one of my favorite bands to get out and party with. Congrats on the gig man!!! That's pretty amazing.
  7. all gone for now...will post when I have more
  8. I have one invite available....pm me for it
  9. I've been in the Glebe since September and am loving it....that is of course if you can find a decent place that doesn't cost an arm and a leg for rent. I spent about 2.5 months looking for something worth the cost and got pretty lucky, granted it was during the summer months, so it may be somewhat easier now.
  10. What channel is this in Ottawa? I'd love to check out...well...pretty much all of this
  11. Agreed...I was pretty blown away by them. Suuuper tight band to go along with Kae Sun who was pretty spectacular upfront!
  12. Marc Charron is opening for Grassroot Deviation in Edmonton tomorrow, so I don't think Lure's gonna be opening...
  13. I just had the same problem....reset my ipod about four or five times to factory settings....then downloaded the new version of itunes and it magically worked again! My ipod has been on it's last legs for about 6 months now, I dunno how it's still alive...but she still plays sweet, sweet music.
  14. I'm outta town this weekend, but am generally down for a game
  15. Speaking of women lead guitarists, did anyone catch Jokko playing at bluesfest. She could definitely rip it up with the best of em.
  16. Probably for the best Brazilian Girls backed out. Ever since I saw her bail on stage at Snoe.down, I don't think I'll ever be able to watch them play again without thinking about that and giving a little chuckle.
  17. stoooked for the GRD. Too bad no Ottawa date...Montreal it is!
  18. I've had problems uploading on Oink since I came to ottawa because Rogers uses traffic shaping which kills upload speeds. Just found a great site www.secureix.com, where you can go through a VPN. Totally saved my Oink ratio, and I can now start downloading again. You do have to pay for a premium membership, but I think the $10/month is definitely worth it. There are also free servers which will certainly boost your upload speeds if your ISP does similar s#it.
  19. I ended up leaving the White Stripes show after 40 minutes due to a pretty nasty crowd surrounding us. On the plus side, made it to about the last 45 minutes of Hawksley Workman which was EPIC! Will never miss him again. Regardless, I don't think anything this week really came close to the Femi Kuti show. Unbelievable energy, and impossible to stop dancing.
  20. It seems the swarm of tunes is upon Ottawa for the summer...and what better way than some sweet jazz to start it off. I've got me a pass (student...gets me into most anything), but am running solo. If anyone has suggestions about any "if you miss this you will never forgive yourself" shows to see let me know. Also, if anyone's going to anything and wants to hook up before a show, lemme know. Peace.
  21. Suddenly Ottawa is seen in a brand new light through my eyes...I guess all it took was some warm weather and reeeeedikulous bluesfest (and even jazzfest) lineups! I'm completely blown away....no words....should have sent.....a poet
  22. thaaaat would make sense (it's also up on the myspace page)
  23. ...and where did you see the lineup? Nothing for 2007 seems to be up on the website...or I'm going to wrong site.
  24. Man, super stoked to see some great Western Canadian bands coming out this year. (NFTT, Hey Ocean). Really excited to see my boys the Grassroot Deviation finally getting some East Coast exposure, coming all the way from Alberta. Check these guys out if you've never heard them...I hear they may be invading Eastern Canada this summer (www.myspace.com/thegrd, www.thegrassrootdeviation.com)
