  1. I am so sorry Heather.

I'm glad for you that you can be surrounded by family at this time. And what better gift to give your father than the gift of love and appreciation.

    He did a good job.

((((((((hugs all the way from Ottawa))))))))

  2. It was a real treat tonight to see this band. We get to see a lot of great music, but when I see something unique + talented, I feel very lucky.

The sound of that bow on the saw was at times beautiful (so beautiful that I found it difficult to catch my breath), and at times terrifying (in a very good way). I wondered if he was trying to draw blood from that saw.

The side drum kit (and I say "side" because it was set-up side stage, not because it was secondary to the other kit) was equipped with some great percussive instruments...I need to find out what they all are because the way she played them all was fantastic.

While I wish that I could understand the lyrics, it really didn't matter.

Torontonians -- Don't miss this tomorrow night

  3. don't most things that we enjoy in life go up and down? (no CJ, I'm not talking about sex here!) My bottom lip pops out and my eyebrows cross when this board doesn't catch my interest, but when that happens I remind myself that I only get disappointed about things/people that I like. I also know that what doesn't catch my attention could keep someone else pinned to their keyboard for days.

  4. I have never wanted to sue someone until now, but I have no evidence. And I don't want to spend so much money just to see if I have a leg to stand on. My car is ok after all of this, and now I just want to make sure that other people don't get screwed over like we did (did I mention that we were suppose to leave that day to go out of town for a wake/funeral? and we were late because of this? fack). I'd love to go to the media, but slander is a costly offense. And that would be slander, wouldn't it (without evidence)?

  5. that SUCKS balls. i've had some run ins with shady mechanics but nothing like that.

a couple things you might be able to do

    1. if you paid on credit card, you can dispute the charges, or some cards have purchase insurance on them or something fancy like that.

    2. call the cops. if they took the car out for stuff that they weren't supposed to, it's theft. if they charged you for services not completed, it's fraud or theft or something bad like that. in that case might not hurt to have it independently checked out at another (reputable) garage.

    3. launch a sting operation. spy on him. see what he does with other cars

    4. propaganda. get a radio show on CKCU and talk shit about him.

(1 and 2 were serious though...)

sorry about that nonsense. kick him in the nads when you finally prevail.

Response to 1. - no charges incurred (the work wasn't done anyhow for the entire 26 hrs they had the car!)

Response to 2. - we called the cops that day. They couldn't yet claim it a stolen vehicle. They told Booche to call back if the car wasn't back by 2pm, but it came back at 1:55pm. The work that was done previous to this visit was checked out and ok (a big thanks to Speedy for checking it all out free of charge!)

Response to 3. - I want so badly to do this, but won't give up vacation days to do so (well...maybe...)

Response to 4. - that's the slander part that I'm weary of. What can I say/what can't I say? I have seriously considered going to the media, but without proof I could get into some serious pooh-pooh.

edit to add - Booche told him to go fuck himself. I couldn't have said it better myself (unless I said the same with my arm waving uncontrollably above my head)

  6. Well, I have never known Marc off stage and can only speak of how I see him on stage. I sometimes imagine that he is a quiet person, off stage...but then sometimes I imagine him being absolutely hilarious, with punchlines thrown into guts left right & centre. Onstage, he is equally as mysterious. I often wonder what I would say to him if I came face-to-face with him. The obvious kudos wouldn't do it justice (for him or me). I'd probably just say "thanks" and continue enjoying the unknown.

  7. long story short...our car was taken to the garage on a Wednesday morning, and Thursday morning we found out that they "didn't know" where it was. Hours later, after having called the cops, the owner showed up with it. The owner's story and the other mechanic's story don't match up. It was definitely "missing" (apparently with the owner) for at least 2 hours while Booche was sitting at the garage. I'm assuming though, based on my conversation with one of the mechanics that morning that it was gone since then, approximately 4 hours before the owner came back with it. I should also note that the work I brought it in for was not done, so for all I know buddy could have been using our car since 11am on Wednesday (returned to us at 2pm on Thursday).

I didn't write down the odometer reading when I took the car in on Wednesday (lesson learned), but it's quite obvious with the long version of this story that the owner was using our car for his own personal use.

We need to be mindful of slander, but what can we do (with no way of proving that he used our car for his personal use)? What would you do?

  8. Ya I'm fucked. Sitting here at OEm right now as they install my new processor and MoBo. What a shitty day.

That sucks, dude. Sorry to hear it. If I can do anything to help still, let me know. I may not the quickest to respond to computerhelpneeded (SugarMegs and Velvet can attest to that), but I do my best.

  9. This advice is too little too late for you, but not for others....if your computer is not powering on as per the norm, or (especially) if you smell something burning, do not try "harder" to turn your computer on. Leave it off. Have someone check it...most likely the power supply is the issue, which for most standard PC's is about $40. If you let it continue, your PC can overheat, thereby frying the motherboard (much like letting the coolant in your engine run out and frying your engine....$10 vs. $1000).

Sometimes, it's even something as simple as dust build-up on the fan in the powersupply. If the fan stops working and the power still goes, heat heat heat.

P.S/ - this might be a stupid question, but are you sure that the power supply you first replaced it with (when it was booting, but had a burning smell) had the same voltage as your original?

  10. I sure hope that a certain someone is reading this.....LOCK YOUR DOORS! Even during the day when your heading for the shower or out to the backyard.

That's some scary shit, Dave. I've woken up thinking there was someone in the house, and that was scary enough.
