  1. I hate it when people join pools liw this when they really have no intention of monitoring their team. I could be rushing to judgement... maybe something more important came up... but really... What's more important than NFL Football???
  2. I'm hoping for 30 to 40 points tonight
  3. Zajac finishes top 10 in the league in scoring. Hall scores 30 goals as a rookie. Price wins the Vezina and leads the Habs to the 2nd seed in the East... I win the pool Thanks for coming out
  4. A letter from Cito to Toronto fans... Dear Jays Fans, Before I leave the dugout for the last time as Jays' manager, I wanted to tell you how I feel about you as Blue Jays' fans and the city of Toronto. You have been great to me here and I will always appreciate your support and will always thank you. Without the fans we wouldn't have been able to accomplish what we did. Many of you have become my friends. I call Toronto a second home only because I was born in the States. Deep down I will always consider this city a first home. I lived here for 20 years and I could live here forever. It's a great city. There are very wonderful people that have treated me very well. I love the city. It's the best kept secret in North America, from the theatres to restaurants. Some of the best food I've ever had I've had in this city. Golf courses, the whole works. It's just a great place to live. I really got to know and appreciate the fans here after I got fired. I always came back to spend the summers here. My wife and I, we walk a lot. So on our walks we ran into a lot of you on the street. Even the police officers and the firemen, even the mounted police riding their horses would stop and say, “Thanks for the memories. Thanks for the good years we had around here.†When I came back as manager in 2008 what a welcome I got. There were all kinds of signs in the stands saying “Welcome back†— even one lady had a sign up asking me to marry her. I guess she didn't know I was already married. I still can't go out to the mound, taking a pitcher out or leaving him in unless people are yelling their support at me. Sometimes games aren't going too good and I still have to wave at them, even though it's probably not the right time to do it. I remember your reactions at the ballpark all the times as guest instructor at spring training before I came back to manage. It was very special. Sometimes, the players who weren't here to experience those winning years, once in a while used to look at me a little funny, like “How does this guy get all this kind of applause every time he walks up and down the field?†You were the people that had been fans a long time and supported this team. I didn't do this by myself. We had great support from the front office, all the way from the players and the fans. It's a great feeling. That first World Series will always be special. We won the second one in such dramatic fashion. But the first one's always going to be the one. When Winfield hit the ball down the line and Robby scored from first base — I can still see that ball. Both series were great, because the way the second one ended, what a fairytale that is. I know Joe Carter must still think of that every day. Before the World Series years I don't know how many times I was on caravans with Tom Cheek and Jerry Howarth and we'd show videos of our past season. I got to see a lot of this country on those caravans and that was good. The saddest thing about it is that we always ended at a loss. Those were sad times, so close and yet so far away. We had a lot of years like that. That finally changed. I miss Tom and I miss Stan — Walter Stancheson — who took care of the umpires. We called him Stash. He and Tom would be thrilled to even think that I was back here again managing. I certainly miss those guys. Memories of John Cerutti come across my mind a lot too. And memories of the fans. Thank you for your support and thank you for your love, Best Wishes, Cito Gaston
  5. I'm not really a Reds fan but I would like to see them do well since Votto is a good Canadian kid. However their record against the better teams isn't the greatest... 2 - 5 vs Phil 3 - 4 vs SF 2 - 4 vs SD 2 - 3 vs Atl However as the Habs showed earlier this year the playoffs are a whole other beast. My prediction is the Phillies go to the World Series...
  6. IN 3D Lucas converting ‘Star Wars’ movies to 3-D Thirty-eight years ago, George Lucas had a good idea for a movie. The rest of us have moved on, but Lucas insists on continuing to mine the shallow hole that is Star Wars. It was announced Wednesday that Lucasfilm plans to render all six of the Star Wars instalments into 3-D and re-release them in theatres. It’s not yet clear when the conversion will be finished, or how the releases will be staggered, but Variety reports that the first entry to hit theatres will be Episode I: The Phantom Menace, in 2012. As with the previous nine releases (including re-releases of the original trilogy), the movies will be distributed by 20th Century Fox. “I expect this (the 3-D release) to be as much fun for people that have not experienced Star Wars, as it was for people who were there in 1977 staring at the screen with mouth agape,†Fox distribution chief Bruce Snyder told Variety. I was there. Maybe you were, too. And while it’s difficult to insert my mind into the body of a five-year-old circa 2010, I’m gonna have to call b.s. on that one. Lucas has overseen six Star Wars installments. Only one (the one he had the least to do with) stands as a superlative work of filmic art. But despite his wealth, he insists on bashing new generations over the head with this thing. He’s like Andy Warhol, minus irony. The only good news in this thing is that it might delay the inevitable horror that will be a fifth instalment of the Indiana Jones series. The 3-D release is going to make George a pile more money. And it’s going to make it harder for those of us who were there on Day 1 to appreciate Star Wars for what it should be – a fondly recalled touchstone and a genre classic, rather than a piece of zombie celluloid that keeps staggering to life.
  7. I said choke-towns? I meant Class-Towns! To answer your question, a noob would have to draft last, but this year will be a random, yahoo generated order (which badams will likely win :susel: ) I have brilliant drafting strategies from each spot that guarantee me at least a 3rd place finish in the pool... BRING IT FUCKERS!!
  8. Damn it' date=' I searched every where for that photo of you in that Heater jersey.......anways, done! (with it being at a public event, not at the office because really what's the big deal if I have to wear a Habs jersey in front of four or five people) Just having fun and cmon Price giving up 4 in 30 minutes is pretty funny even if it is preseason. (yes, he played the full 30 minutes) Heck Sloth, we don``t even know if Price is going to make the team at this point
  9. It`s fucking preseason... wake up when the games count for something.

I agree, they all count in the final standings.

    NFL 2010

Their D has saved this team over and over the first 2 games... 2 - 0 is 2 - 0 I'll take it!
  12. I might be interested but I can't see my team at work. I'll peruse your team once I get home and see what I can offer.
  13. I agree... you don't offer to put something up for a vote and then pick what you want anyway. This league is off to a roaring start
  14. That's some voting system you have there Hal. Did you learn democracy in the Soviet Union around 1984? lol
  15. Do what you will with the league... I predict the top 4 teams will remain with same... the rest of you sucked Oh guys... don't forget to draft goalies and remember they will not help you in the hits category.

    NFL 2010

Phins 2 - 0!! I am glad they are winning but if the games stay like this I'll have a heart attack by week 7.
  17. lol I think Hal is over thinking the league. It's fantasy hockey not... try to make it like real life hockey Like I said or tried to say before. I will play by whatever rules are set out but DO NOT think a league where Robidas gets as many points as Teows is a great idea.
  18. I personally believe we play by whatever rules or settings the league creator dictates. The only problem I have is when rules are changed after the draft. It's our own fault if we don't peruse the league points system before the draft. I get what you are trying to do but I don't want to see someone who gets a ton of hits get as many points as a top point producer. As for drafting it's a crap shoot and really does come down to some skill from the owner and a lot of luck. I was in a 20 team league last year and had 20th pick. I ended up 2nd over all and in the money. You won't please everyone but thank you for setting up this league... it was fun last year.
  19. I think the Leafs need to make the playoffs first. I agree
  20. Good idea. I was thinking of doing this Sept 1 but it slipped my mind.
