  1. he's got what, 2 years at 15mil a piece left on his contract? if they dont get a front-line starter to replace burnett and another hitter that can flat out mash, they're not going to compete in the next 2 years and will have no chance to sign him to an extension next year... which'll probably put them into another 5 year plan. if ricciardi cant get those pieces in place, i say blow it up and make some big deals with halladay and rios, and see if you can get anyone to take on wells' contract... i actually dont think they'd be in too bad a position with the return those players could net, an emerging young pitching staff, and they already have some outfield depth. i dunno, you're gonna need a team of all-stars to compete in that division anyhow. they owe halladay a serious run, or a good trade.
  2. 22nd'd. unbelievable dude, that's massive. what an opportunity for ya.. so awesome, i had to read it again.

    "Economic Update"

the fact that this was not undemocratic, there was no constitutional crisis, and this is the way parliament (especially a minority govt!) is supposed to work, ie: together, is a point that needs to be hammered home by the opposition parties and the media, or we're looking at a Con majority come february. then we're gonna lose paisley to europe. i think harper knows exactly how things work. i wouldnt be surprised, though, if he looked at voter turnout/voter apathy from the last election, and made the calculation that most people wouldnt understand or care enough about what was happening. design the play, create the spin, watch the numbers roll in. i think shredder basically said something like this already, maybe not exactly that way, but i agree it was definitely a calculated play by harper. he's got the libs right where he wants them right now - come january, they either vote in a budget they're not happy with, or they go to the polls in february with no leader and in shambles after the coalition debauchle, and hand over a majority. thank you very much. smart guy, that harper, but i cant fuckin stand him.

  5. happy birthday, brother. dont die this weekend, alright? see ya in a few...
  6. i thought it'd be an odd choice to bring an old past-his-prime wide receiver up on stage... next best guess.
  7. the 14 - and i know, i should never have a problem. which is why i scratch my head a lot.' edit: you know "rovers" in softball, the 10th man on the field? i've felt for a long time that the 14 route needs a "rover" bus - just going along the route all willy nilly picking up the leftovers.
  8. ok ok - i just wanted to know what your magic route was, because i get fucked by mine everytime i leave the house. i wouldnt consider the occassional late/far too early bus an issue, either - but if you dealt with it at the level of consistency that i do, which you say you havent in a lifetimes worth of bus rides, you'd give your head a scratch, too. sure, every rider on a different route is going to have a different experience. there's only one rule of thumb for me - go the stop and hope for the best. now, where's brad?

    "Economic Update"

as i understand it, every person in parliament got voted in by someone. and our constitution allows for them to form a coalition in times such as this. by virtue of our vote putting them into parliament, and thus the position to do that, in a sense, we have voted and allowed for it. if im wrong, can someone clarify where?
  11. i thought thats what a rule of thumb was? and i guess by "always", what you meant was "sometimes"?
  12. interesting. you'd think with such a low ratio that they could take the time to communicate with their customers when a complaint does arise. i've sent in 2 complaints and not received a response for either. things dont change because there's no city bus alternative to the OC, so why should they change? dont like it, walk, or get a car - they're still gonna pack the bus, right. and ollie, c'mon man. your 5 minute system has worked your entire life in this city? wow, whats your magic route? i've been in this city a year and the bus is NEVER that consistent. in fact, i think the system is incredibly disorganized, and i come from LONDON ONTARIO - home of the worst bus system ever. anyways, good luck dinghy - maybe if the job gets better for the employers, the system will get better for the riders.
  13. i guess i should apologize to the cat.
  14. bumpin' for the last weekend... its been good, hopin' to finish up strong...
  15. you know, thats a good point - from a marketing standpoint, and ultimately $$'s, they could have just bought a billion fans... the type of cash injection a small-mid market team would need to compete without a salary cap in place. but this was my first thought: the pirates have been worse than even the reds since, like, the early 70's, and every other team passed on 'em at the tryout. i mean, you're not tellin' me the pirates had the most money.... so, i dunno, we'll see. they're as raw as raw gets having never pitched before the competition. it'll be one hell of a story if they make it.
