  1. i was on board to shoot that festival this weekend, and it was a total joke. i remember northernwish volunteering for them a couple years back and saying pretty much the same thing - going into it i felt i should know better, y'know. i didnt even bother showing up to shoot on the friday because they didnt have any passes worked out, and my contact at the festival had the sketchiest of details.. when i did go on saturday afternoon there seemed to be about 2 dozen people there (ok, maybe a hundred or so.... ) - but i could only shoot from the "crowd", and i was asked only to shoot the main headliners, as the "festival atmosphere" was leaving a lot to be desired... and then 20 minutes later they made the announcement that all headliners were cancelled. good thing i didnt even bother with it on Sunday.
  2. fffffffffffffffffuck. we'll have to get these games back in september.
  3. shit gets nuts. video from reds.com a couple minutes in it escalates again, with carpenter lipping off dusty, then its like a bullrush to the backstop... cueto ended up pinned against the screen... no idea why the hell our starting pitcher decided to mix it up... but he ended up kicking his way outta there, they say he gave Larue a concussion and facial lacerations, carpenter got kicked in the back a few times... i think you see Gomes throw a punch or 2... pretty ugly. i didnt agree with phillips running his mouth off before the series started.. he's on my team, but even i know he's a punk - i'd love to trade him, but where are you gonna find that kinda production at 2nd base? i dont think molina shoulda got in his face, either, tho - just bring it in high and hard or drill him in the ribs. thats baseball. gotta win today, tho, and arroyo is usually shite when he throws a day game. they better bring the big sticks today.
  4. well that was agonizing. and probably some suspensions to come. what a mess.
  5. fuuuuuuuuuuuuck me. that was insane. i couldnt believe dusty didnt get off his ass to go calm the kid down after the 4th consecutive hit... or the 5th one that loaded the bases... or the 6th one that cleared them! 6 runs in a matter of 12 pitches, and the guy is complaining he didnt have time to warm anyone in the pen. irresponsible management, if you ask me - i was watching and went off the rails about it. its all he had to do, go talk to the kid, slow the game down, get everyone back on track, and maybe that grand slam doesnt get hit, who knows. what a killer, though.. you're simply not comin' back 6 against carpenter. thats alright, tho... they're still chasing us. and they gotta deal with cueto tonight - who has been absolutely dealing lately. they'll be ready...
  6. Reds hosting the Cardinals for 3. we're up 2 to start the day, but have our hands full with carpenter, garcia and wainwright - this could be a huge swing either way. espn has the game tonight for anyone interested... carpenter vs. leake. personally, i am bustin'. Go Reds!
  7. love it. what a performance. :clapclap:
  8. it was great to see some familiar faces on friday night, i havent made it back to hamilton in quite a while - and certainly hadnt been to the festival of friends in forever.. nothin' like a trip down memory lane sometimes. can't say i enjoyed the dr. as much as everyone else seemed to, but Hamilton itself is always entertaining enough, hahah. mixin' it up on the delaware, strollin' thru the park, and passin' out on augusta. sweet weekend. i even managed to squeeze in a mike's torpedo sub and some canadian little league championships in ancaster.
  9. whaddaya mean there's nothing on?? you got NBA summer league, the ongoing coverage of Albert Haynesworth's fitness "test"... this is prime season, buddy!! nice to see Bautista inch himself closer to that MVP with another dinger last nite seriously, though, it is a good story to see the guy breaking out like he is - i think he has incredible bat speed, and maybe it just took the new hitting coach (murphy, is it?) to bring it out him. i still dont think you can put a .250 hitter on a 4th place team into the conversation, tho... for me, part of the MVP has to be the ability to take your team to another level, in some way - and the jays are right where they always are, and where they'd be with or without him. i would actually look more to guys like Romero, or Downs, or even John Buck (not the sexy pick by any means, but a great season in a much more demanding position) as the team MVP. i mean, i guess the exception is Andre Dawson in '87... the cubs did finish last, but who knows how much worse they woulda done without him? the blank contract and the incredible season from a guy who was supposed to be "done", surely played into that story, too. how are you guys liking Escobar? i'm starting to think maybe this trade wakes him up and the Jays scooped themselves an absolute beast. Gonzalez, as predicted, ain't doin' shit for the Braves. i think Anthopolous is gonna do a great job for the jays. thanks for the wake-up call, thorg - miss ya buddy.
  10. he's having a great year pulling the ball over the left field wall, but no way Bautista even sniffs the MVP. a .250 hitter on a 4th place team does not an MVP make. otherwise, Adam Dunn would have 4 of them by now. Josh Hamilton is close to the triple crown, on a 1st place team that hasnt been to the playoffs since '99 - at this point, he's gotta be the leading candidate, followed closely by miguel cabrera and the monster season he's having. nice win by the jays last night, though, stickin' it to A.J. - i can't stand burnett. and i always love seeing strange/obscure records, thats what baseballs all about, hahah... 6 doubles in the 5th, 2 by snider... huge inning. anyone see that blast by encarnacion? that guy can mash, but im still glad he's your problem now. thank god for scotty rolen (who should be an NL MVP candidate)
  11. and they still gave him 15 million to sign.
  12. this is a bit of a surprising deal... not necessarily that A-Gon is gone, but that its to the braves, and for Escobar!? strange... i thought he was pretty highly regarded in that organization, but maybe with the year-long slump so far they've just given up on him? or they know something... gonzalez obviously isnt a long-term replacement, so they must have someone in the pipeline ready to go for next year.. but a-gon is an immediate upgrade, provided he continues playing like this... his baseball card says he probably wont, but ya never know, guys like him are usually good for a break-out season when the contract is up. ;-) i think this is great for the jays, tho. if escobar can get his game back he'll be just fine, and be a more valuable chip once hechavarria is ready.. nice move for the jays, kinda curious for atlanta..

good canadian boy!! c'mon! last day to vote... i cant believe he wasnt included on the initial roster.. leading the league in hr's & obp, top 5 in avg, rbi's, and runs scored, plays stellar D, and um.... his team is in first by 3 games. :hail:
  15. welcome to the show, eh? i never thought i'd seek out a nationals/pirates game, but shit.. he's gonna be fun to watch. his fastball isnt just high 90's, it dances all over the place. a tailing 2-seamer, a sinker at 95, a nice running change, and that crazy curve.. not quite a 12-6, but its got serious downward bite. the best thing for him might be a year or 2 working with pudge behind the plate, honing pitch selection and location. man - if his arm stays in its socket he's gonna be unstoppable. glad he didnt debut against us, like the rumour had been. 14 k's... fuck me!
  16. man, im too nervous to say shit! its lookin' too good right now... if we're still on the cusp come late august, im gonna be goin' ape. right now, tho, this is just a fun ballclub to watch grow into themselves.. just the beginning... back to strasburg, tho.... shit... just watched his 1st inning, and he's definitely the real deal... that curve is downright nasty, comin' on the heels of a 97 heater... jesus! he's aggressive...
  17. and then there's... the anti-strasburg. no hype. no minors. barely touches 90. 5 and 0. they're gonna call this summer "the miracle in the midwest" or something
  18. i get the sense they did, as well. i caught this barr bros. show in montreal last night and it was really really good. saw them in wakefield last fall, too, but it's obvious they've grown some since then.. the size of the sound, the sensibilities.. i mean, it felt like a real band now, not a "project". almost felt like i was watching the birth of phase 2 of the barr's careers, in a sense... you know, they had their own thing going on, sans any past slip connections, and they were killin' it. great sized crowd - i know its not a huge room, but the place was disgustingly packed and had a great energy throughout the night. and they've already got their "hit" with that "lord i just cant keep from cryin'" take... that place got bouncin' when they busted into it! for what they played, aside from basically everything on the new disc, they also did Happy Snails, England, Heart Shaped Box, and maybe a couple more familiar ones that im forgetting. i even felt like their jams were more reminicient of old school slip than most "recent" slip i've heard, which was interesting... like, a bit of an air is the body type jam coming outta heart shaped box, and i dunno, a lot of it had the same kinda vibe you'd get from an old wolof, or cumulus, or autobody or something... very andrew driven, it seemed... anyhow... this is a good band - hope to hear more from them.. check 'em out when ya can.
  19. ya, but so what? everyone's got an opinion. la russa and girardi are 2 who are calling for it to be overturned. thing is, its not like he can't do it, he has that "good of the game" God claus as commish - he chooses not to, and that's fine. down the road someone else might choose to change it back, and i think that'd be pretty fucking cool. either way, chances are jason donald doesn't lose the batting title because of it, so whatever, its ceremonial at this point. anyone with eyes and sense knows what it was.
  20. fair enough. still re-wrote history, anyway you slice it. ie: its never outta the realm of possibility. have the balls to set the precedent is all im saying.
