  1. I heard gruvasylum were playing Ottawa in february and they haven't been rebooked. I can see themj monthly in London but you guys have yet to see these dudes(most of you) and when you do you'll be amazed.

    incredible players making incredible music.

these dudes should be playing festivals with scofield, metalwood, MMW, and the like...great talent that is bound to open up.

Mark Rodgers the bass palyer went to school with John Pattitucci in texas. Awesome sounds from a 7 string with a looper and the talent to back it up.

one of the best drummers i'veever heard - tight mutha. I'm not a fan of freestyle MC's but enlight is actually good, and well...the brownman is on trumpet and percussion so things are bound to be stellar.

serious, guys you've gotta get gruvasylum to play shows in Ottawa. The guys are so busy with sessions and still want to drive hours to play in a dry town. It's love of the sounds and you characters deserve to hear them.

If you're in toronto check em out.

  2. anyone as stoked as me to go out and see a great band play? well tonight i'm debating between the pocket dwellersand jomomma...the pocket dwellers are bound to return someday...

everyone aound had better stop by the bacchus lounge and say hi(gh).

    seeya later

  3. Hey folks...my friend laura told me about an awesome music festival with multiple stages...think Come Together but more secretive and slightly more party-people oriented...

that's right a bit electronic. I think the jam scene and the rave scene should try to sync up every so often to create a really great scene for happy, open minded individuals that just like to have a good time. OM is not about getting fucked up on extacy and picking fights...it's supposed to be about having a blast and meeting great people - something we all seem to enjoy.

I know Nero would go over sooo well there, as would many other bands...Anyone interested should go to this fest.

  4. hey bouche...have you approached anyone for grants or financial support for the site...frontier town could be a really great opportunity to get material for streaming and hosting of music...Frontier Town Online! well someone should do it. the governments likes to hand out grants to willing and worthy participants.

you could maybe claim the recorder as a business expense - to record stuff at the shows...you could get reporters...pay them in party favours and get them in as members of the press...serious,,,if you want to get this up and going i'd work for you as a member of the press...i'd learn how to be a taper if i had a recording device...I'd promote the site - wait - i do that already. anyways, just a thought.

  5. dude...it doesn't matter if it's an out dated media type. it's not computer interfaceable. it uses a totally dufferent language.

does it matter if the drum is supposed to be a click track, bouche - i've heard it played with and it was fun. you might find textures you'll like.

it's not a top notch drum machine but this isn't a piece of STUDIO equipment. it's a home recording machine and that should be taken into account. if you want to record simply, then get a MD and a mixer. stereo mixes may not allow for creative mixdowns but it'll be great for live recording and you'll figure out what you need for your pwn recording.

serious, man the zip recorder would be a etter investment. you can get 15 minutes a zip disk and they're like 10 bucks...how much is a smart card>? the quality's decent and it's a great way to learn how to record.

you're not buying a personal computer here.

hard disk would be nice but is it in your price range?

  6. ...when i think about how the Nero boys shafted us londoners by not playing this fair town with its fair maidens and great music-loving audiences.

They play Kitchener - a city whose community can easily commute to toronto to see great live music and not London, a college town with many great minds without great bank accounts to get them travelling very often. I hope another southwestern Ontario tour will be in the works because this part of the country isn't versed in nero at all...except a select few that went to summer jamband music festivals or were lucky enough to see them while living near Ottawa...

You guys...i'm confused as to why you're not playing a show with yaqui mystic...coulda been awesome... smile.gif" border="0

  7. Although I'm not holding it ...officially...I propose the official PhishSanctuary party be at Frontier Town on may 24. It would help to solidify the head/jam scene in Ontario and it's the birthday weekend of a handful of us.

It's bound to be one of the best parties in the world(anyone who's gone knows the potential of that place) and it's not hard to get to/expensive.

we could make a shanty town of tents, tarps, and interesting people.

I don't see why anyone would disagree that this could be an incredible opportunity for this site to gain new members and more notoriety, all the while letting us have some of the best times of our relatively youthful lives.

Just think of what could come of this...

  8. my friend Ian has a bos recorder that uses zip disks...it's pretty decent for simpe recording and you can be a bit creative with electronic percussion on it. the zip disk feature is awesome because they're waaaaaay cheaper than smart media and easier to find.

you should be able to plug a keyboard into it no problem...it just might depend on what frequency response you want from your instrument...the inputs may colour the sound or have different impedance etc. etc...

I would recommend trying to find the manuals online to see which would be easier to use or better suited for your needs...find out if you want to record a certain way and see if you can do it and how easy it is to do so.

if it's just straight recording, I would say go ZIP but it all depends on what YOU are going to do with it and whether it's worth the money you're spending on it.

  9. i have conferred with my attorney and we've come to an agreement concerning the tizzardheads' song...I would be willing to work as a session musician, as the session bandleader, as the contractor and engineer for any upcoming Cheesecake sessions and tizzardheads sessions.

Hope you can comply and pull through with a big bag of weed.

  10. Hey everyone...does ANYONE(doubleB?) know what's going on(or not going on) with the Gruvasylum show on wednesday? I saw them last ngith and things were sort of grumbly when i asked about a tour...but the good news is that i might get to work with those guys soon...if only i could have a great jam with mark rodgers...he studied bass with john pattitucci. this dude is sick. endorsed by acoustic image(?) and mike lull, this bass player uses the letters M and E to spell 'sick'.

  11. haden/gismonti - in montreal

    mc ferrin - circlesongs

bob marley and the wailers - jungle dub(lee perry)

    garcia/grisman - so what

    SYR 3(sonic youth/jim o'rourke)

Kevin o'donnell's quality six - control freak

super albums to chill to, listen hard to, sleep to, and likely do most anyhting to...well the SYR is pretty artsy so unless you're with a totally openminded, free, creative person, i suggest to not listen to this album while getting intimate...it's not very groovy...which some people need.

video - the holy trilogy(star wars for those heathens)

  12. i lurk...but then i smirk and must reply. I try to be sly, but usually i'm high and on the special occasions i'll have been into the rye.

oh my...an exclamiation and a proclamation of what has been and what is to come, all taken in while sitting on my bum, and feeling less glum.

In a town far away from great friends, In sight there's no end to what could become magic, but I fear as our ends grow numb, we'll aspire to burn a green one and leave in search of weed.

Who knows what coupld oppose...foes? that blows. None could oppose with blows as strong as those. From a fright to a sight, this place has might! If only the lurkers weren't jerkers and spoke up while getting smoked up, maybe we'd get some new thoughts from you robots.

  13. you got a binaural mic? sweet!

i hope you only have one...because using 2 could screw t know, a binaural mic is meant to act like a person's ears. there are 2 capsules(it shoudl be a stereo microphone - 2 seperate outs) each on the opposite side of a large mass...kinda like a dude's noggin. the result is a realistic distruption of phase...a really subtle delay of the opposite mic's sound(because sound has to travel around your head to reach the other ear). awesome for headphone listening.

if you've got the little earbud mics...really small microphones that look about as big as earbud headphones...you have to wear them the whole show. if you don't it could screw up the signal, as it's binaural.

i always wondered what it would be like to have a show where, say, nero played and everyone wore those mics...you could mix the show and tailor it to be from the perspective of the drummer or bassist or guitar or crowd or sound guy.

if you don't want to wear the mics if they're earbud, get a big piece of styrofoam and put the mics on either side and set it up on a stand...if you want to hear more bass move closer to the bassist...record soundcheck if you can get in and listen to it.

the guys from gtb are really really nice. i met a couple of them at the party after the show at the chestnut(aah NYE) and if you've got binaurals and you explain to them about it i'm sure they'd be really accomodating.

cheers and i hope you could send me a copy.

    good luck at the show

  14. In London, there were a lot of builds and swells to get the audience into the groove...a big first time audience(me included) and i'm sure if the place was to capacity and everyone were totally into it the niht would be crazier...i hope i see them again relatively soon...

  15. I'm listening to Bobby McFerrin's 'Circlesongs' - an awesome album for anyone that can appreciate a good voice.

I was wondering if Bobby McFerrin was ever brought in to play with Phish for vocal jamming.

if not, i wonder why...someone get on the horn and make it happen...If anyone can get that idea to the boys please do.

and everyone else - find that album and listen to it. it's awesome.
