  1. to try to get the toaster award on saturday night for drums and Tuba/GTB

we all know i did it before for the bands...well D&T anyways. I hope my night stays as interesting as possible and that more people show for this than did the new deal.

don't can out on me this time, guys(and dolls).

    BLAH!

  2. Alkaline IS big sugar. Big sugar may be radio-friendly but they are one of the most over-hyped yet underrealized bands in canada. I really resent their play on the radio sometimes when the songs get old but they're an incredible band live - they actually *gasp* jam! who can pull off live dub? not too many bands. a handful of DJ's...these guys are super nice too. i remember interviewing them for the radio and they were totally conversational. really great folks. I prefer alkaline to big sugar discs but i still like big sugar...the jam scene should support these guys more. if you don't like them don't go see em but they're still listenable and worth supporting. They're friends with gov't mule and are into great music. don't count em out just because they found a way to get notoriety in canada. we still need rock n roll.

  3. as for performance, it was tied with the show at the lyric in K-W earlier this year for me. Definitely a dynamic show with decent lights and a stoked but small crowd.

whoever doesn't know who i am that was there, i was the big guy in the red toque and green sweater.

i expected more smokers to be there. it wasn't as much of a party as it could've been but it was just as fun as i'd hoped.

  4. you know what...i was kinda hammered and i don't remember...i think i was just jammin'...did you like it?

Anyhow, i'm back in the 613 for the next half week and want to get together with folks before the new deal and maybe on the 15th but there are a few shgows i can't choose between.

    get in touch people~!

  5. Okay here I am in London with my new roommate, giggles, and we're always up for some good times...well at least I am. Anyone withing driving distance of London that wants to get together sometime should let us know and drop a line. I just moved into a new place and roommates always like new people and good times.

or if you're ever in need of a floor after a show let us know.

    i don't have a land line yet.

  6. you could always make gelcaps of shrooms for when you cropss the border and hide them in your vitamin containers.

seriously dudes...stay in canadaas much as you can this year...tours are heatscore i've been hearing and who tours canada?

i'd be more inclined to travel and see allt he festivals here this year...america definitely has a lot of choices but you can see more shows up here for the same money.

toronto and montreal(and otttawa) jazzfests, tulip fest, bluesfests, om, come together, evolve, and so on and so forth...hit a couple border shows and bonnaroo...maybe gathering if you've got a ticket...but don't be a tour hog if you're worried about the 5-0

  7. not to be insensitive and prejudiced, but that dude now knows what it's like to be a palestinian in the west bank.

if i were forced off my land because the UN declared my neighbourhood a new country and i was forced off my land and was persecuted because of my beliefs i'd be killing people too. we're all peace loving people but the palestinians have been ignored in the western media because they don't have the money or power to have a proper army to defend themselves. they're doing all they can to fight for themselves and nobody ever says anyhting about that in the media. i dont' think it's right in canada but you've got to understand both sides of the story...it's not jewish land and the israeli army has been pushing around muslims for years. it's all over an eons-old fight for bravado and the rightful ownership of land. it's retarded but it's not gonna end any time soon.

i didn't mean to offend anyone here but it's a perspective that fewe people really take into account.

  8. I think being canadian is like rick mercer's talking to americans.

we're kind, frank, and polite but totally know how to go up to someone tell them they're an idiot to their face and keep ours straight while they try to figure out if they have any clue what we're talking aboot.

i din't think it's because americans are stupid...if people are clueless they're gonna agree to almost anything - it's just americans want to look like they're special and if they're not feeling like that they want to seem like they're knowledgeable just to save face. that's my view on rick mercer...he's just a charismatic guy that people trust. plus, he's got that fine canadian accent...aah easterners!

  9. why is there so much anger focused at hockeget so caught up in the stereotypical emotions like anger rage and fury that they forget about the gracew and beauty of the game - it's not about wins and losses it's bout character.

and how the sens are gonna kick ass this time round.

    well...might kick some ass.

  10. honestly dudes, you guys shouldnt' have even thought of watching the junos. you think too differently about music than the industry for you to enjoy it. sure you hate all the music and you know why but people like music for different reasons altogether than you most of the time and you've got to realize that they deserve to enjoy music just as much(well i doubt that's true) as the rest of us.

the masses don't understand the music we like and likely never will. i'm happy they have crappy music because if they didn't they'd infiltrate ours and make it a big pile of lot trash at shows. don't forget about that guys and gals. I like diana krall's voice and talent but i don't think she deserves the notoriety she gets. she likely bosses her dude around but he probably likes it.

i've met jim and andy creeggan and although i don't like BNL i love the bros. creeggan...totally awesome songwriting and talent live. among my fave shows. i had dinner with the guys while i interviewed them for the radio...i think the highlight of the night if i were to watch it would be the jack richardson award for best producer. jack's my teacher and he's a super dude. his sin is gggarth, produced the first rage album, mother's milk(rhcp) among many others(kittie and a whole load of other alternative bands) the popular music field is pretty economically driven and we're not popular consumers so please don't try to think that you or anyone here would get much good out of the junos...understand that nobody including you liked them...if it was so bad why didn't you just change the channel?? there's no hope as of yet for good music to be on prime time television.

  11. okay, people - meat is not bad for you. poor diet in general is bad for you. you can't blame one thing on someone getting sick.

our boidies were made to take in meat as well as plants, but meat isn't really a neccessary thing in our diets, especially with hormones and chemicals added like they are.

that being said, I prefer dark meat as far as eating goes, but if you're speaking metaphorically, i'll eat anyhting except sausage. dark meat has more fat but it's healthier fat, as the nutritients found in the fat are for the more worked muscles and these parts need a better reserve to draw from. White meat in turkey isnt' nearly as good as dark - but always looks soooo tasty even when it's drier than cardboard.

i prefer stuffing to meat at festive dinners, but when choosing a cut i like to dig into a meaty thigh...i feel like nobility at a feast.

voracity is always the most intense and fun essence in all things sensual...just listen to some tower of power. dark meat all the way.

  12. by far though dudes, the best part about going to see shows is how cool you look there with your dreadlocks and old clothes...lit's like that's the real reason to go - not that cr-happy music that just keeps going on and on forever. too bad they don't sound more like incubus...pass me some more coke man...and don't get me started on that dead band. they were around for like 30 years and how many hits do they have?? fuck off, jerry.

oh yeah...and the hippy chicks...they sure stink real bad but i hear they put out if you get enough roofies into em.

-american jamband festivals are cooler because you can steal shit

-weed?? fuck that, give me some crack!

-this website looks cheap and unprofessional

-why doesn't fuckin everybody fuckin swear god dammit. i mean fuck! they have it goin on at jamband dot com.

-i love how people like britney can have a career singing other peoples' songs just by having a nice rack and no gag reflex.

    am i gettin close guys?>?

  13. i figure i'd end up going batty enough being shipwrecked so i'd bring some john cage, sonic youth, grayfolded, misc space jams and some mime records.

if i could be shipwrecked on a weed filled island tho i'd take loads of groovy shiznit...nero shows, tower of power, some wierd ambient space rock like doves or some beautiful guitar quartet albums...always buy new albums for a trip because if you've got to listen to what you have already, you'll be reminded of home and it'll drive you crazy...that's why i hate the desert island question.

even though i could listen to ambient dub translations of bob marley it'd get old a lot faster than some chopin or jarre...even kraftwerk is pretty cool when you never heard the tracks and it's easier to get into music when you've got to focus on it. I'd want to take music i hadn't heard very much of or even at all...go based on interpretations and such...but then again i wouldn't really be able to choose...becuase i wouldn't choose being shipwrecked.

anyhow, it's 3:13...cool...anyways, that's my take on the most annoying question to a music lover.
