  1. that dude falls under the title of conventional jazz fan. I hate it when people pick apart music to try to understand it. It's groove oriented music, not avant garde jazz.

I understand that uberjam is a great album but i know how to understand this music. That dude doens't because he can't adapt - which is what jazz is all about...adapting to ideas and expressing thought and feeling. Scofiend wants to express confidence, happiness, and life and this dude has his head up his ass so far he forgot that scofield's ideas aren't supposed to be in there. A player like that doens't pull anyhting out of his (or anyone else's) ass but I do understand where he's coming from...when you learn about music you forget about learnign about expression and creativity. That's why a lot of new jazz has been so boring(up until very recently) - people forget about the essence of sound and the mind because they can't learn it in music school.

too bad that guy is musical and doesn't get it yet.

  2. i thought it was the warm glow on the left wall...likely a lamp...thought it could be a false ambient light from a sunny day...photoshop doesn't make you go to the store and but a pair of attends for when Harpua reccomends a site tho...I hope you're willing to pay for a new pair of silk boxers. shocked.gif" border="0

  4. yeah dude...that's exactly how rumours get started...but i really wanna go now.

i hope i can swing it...i've still gotta get a job and if i plan n partying as much asi want to this summer i'll be fired for sure...all the CT fests, bonnaroo, evolve, om, trey tour, MMW, MTL jazz fest, as many nero shows as i can get to, hillside festival, etc...

anyone know where i can work for the summer with little to no time restrictions and enough income generated to afford the thousands of dollars i want to spend on music?? anything i can do...

  5. I really hope I can score a ride from London to this show...it would make my weekend sooooooooo perfect.

    smile.gif" border="0

i haven't seen nero in far too long and the guitarist from the groovediggaz helped make my labour day weekend among the best times ever.

I really hope i can hear them again...if they've improved as much as nero has in such a short time, i forsee possible euphoric times...seamless sets??

I hear the chameleon jam happening right now...

  6. speaking of clapton, anyone ever notice how much clapton amd trey look alike??

and they're both killer on the gee-tar. and they both studied music...not just learned about it - studied it. Although trey got to go to school for it and clapon had to seek it out more on his own, i think it's eerie about these 2 dudes...somehow spiritually linked?>??

    i would assume so.

after all, clapton IS supposed to be God...

  7. Well i'm in London - you can pick me up when you get schwa!

serious, dudes...i'm lacking bigtime in the area of american bands...only saw SCI and oysterhead...can't you take pity on little old me?

someone get prices in order so we can start saving!!!

  9. that sucks ass.

they should charge for a patch but allow taping...maybe institute a policy where if you tape you'd better drink your face off or pay for your buddy's drinks for awhile sorta thing...which is still wrong.

they can't compare their setup to a studio because they're totally different in all respects other than music is made there and some similar equipment.

    i hope they smarten up.

  10. i have never once had a single problem burnng to the CD-R's fro future shop that are 50 for 30...

memorex or cursor...i dunno...i get the packs of sleeves(25 for 10 bucks(holds 50)) and it all works out. I dont' care abotu hard cases...they always break anyway.

If i can get in on HP spindles, i'll gleefully buy you presents in trade...i'm getting low and don't want to waste my black memorex(wowee zowee are they nice - like playstation discs) on jobs that don't need longevity...well they all do but they're more expensive...what can i say - it's the scottish in me...

  11. personally, the one reason i think i havent' been sick in a long time is smoking.

I don't smoke but love being around good conversation - a smoke break. I love going to see live music - where there's usually a lot of tobacco and weed smoke. I love to be at parties...usually smokers...when i get to go home relax, and recoup, my body has to work extra hard to detoxify, keeping it in perfect motion for a guy that doesn't exercise.

I say keep it up party smokers...but keep it to parties and times when you need a social break...something that non smokers don't really have...what excuse do we have? water cooler? those aren't as abundant as the nicotine fit. Smokers get a break and we get to look like a bunch of lazy bums that like to poke around and hang out...something i don't mind...anyhow, with any luck you'll see me at hillside up on stage because i'm auditioning tomorrow in guelph with my friend jonas...it's flattering to meet someone that thinks you're good enough to work with to get a spot on an incredible music festival. Even if i dont' gt in i'll want to go...everyone talks about CTfest and this and that but what are all the cool music festivals in ontario and surrounding parts of America?>? any in western quebec or the east coast(other than evolve)

this summer should be awesome...if i can gt to the restof canada with the help of music it'll be too super.i think it can be done...maybe...

  12. that rules, dude!

that's the kind of art that should advertise cretivity...ever think about getting into design?

I think you could totally make flyers with that kind of art...or posters or album art...

if you ever want to draw cool stuff for people, put me on your list. Too few people have good art in their homes...myself included.

if anyone wants to make beauty for friendly people, this could definitely be a great swapping hub...indica's photography, your drawing, music and ideas...

  13. So here i am,a music lover with a computer and cable internet and don't know how to get in on the show swapping craze...i have a 233mhz imac...pretty slow and old and i dont' know what software to get, where to sign up for trading memberships, etc.

i feel like a bit of a dork having to ask this but i figured this si the best place to start...

please feel free to toss out any suggestions.

  15. so i was at canoe.ca and i answered a drug survey...here are the outcomes...check out the total votes...i'm not joking

Do you consider ecstasy as dangerous as other hard drugs (ex. heroin)?

Total Votes for this Question: 420

So far, 66%  have voted for Yes

So far, 18%  have voted for No

So far, 14%  have voted for Need To Know More

So far, 2%  have voted for Don't Care

that's whakt...does anyone remember the movie detroit rock city?? well, going home on the train, i met the actor that played sir loin...the guy that won the stripping competition. cool guy, great conversations and i think he appreciated it. We were the only ones i could see that were actually enjoying other peoples' company...he was telling me about guys trying to follow him home from the gym...the dangers of being beautiful huh...

  16. I can't believe nobody let the sanctuary it was going on before it was over. I would've gone to see the show. I love post rock and spacy trippy artsy music and can appreciate drone...i agree that godspeed you black emperor from montreal is intensely climactic but some bands develop the drone...i saw the american analog set and there wasn't enough build for me earlier this year in london...I dont' know if it's the same with a lot of post rock but the AAS seemed a bit wishy washy as a stage performance...indecisive and not as comfortable on stage as the average jamband. I don' tknow if that's a similarity.

Anyways, there's definitely something about the orchestral texture of post rock that is really interesting to me.

If anyone's looking for another album to listen to try to find black rebel motorcycle club. A bit spacy. A headphone trip indeed.
