  1. Todd Gillies from the Fat Cats asked me to post this message. I told him that I would. I don't know why the band is now playing on Sundays at the Casbah and not at Pepper Jack's ... I am just relaying the message.

"Fat Cats on Sundays starting on Sun. Dec. 1 at the Casbah, not at Pepper Jacks."

Todd also said when he made the announcement on stage that the shows would be starting at 10 p.m. - I think he said something like "I swear they will start at 10."

I hope that this switch back to the Casbah doesn't upset anybody too much, because the Fatties rock, as was so evident last night. What a great show! So nice to hear the band with Tyler on keys ... the keys fill out the sound so nicely. And what a great turnout last night. The energy on the stage and in the audience was electrifying.

When the Fatties are on and play with a keyboard player like Big Red, I can't think of many places I'd rather be than on the dance floor grooving and getting down ...

    Peace, Mark

  3. Oh my oh my ... it's a super-busy week already, but this show is getting me thinking about a road trip to Hamilton on Tuesday night.

The Fatties with a keyboard player, especially Tyler ... the thought brings a smile to my face and a shiver down my spine [smile]

    Peace, Mark

  4. WOW WOW WOW ... I'm liking the look of that setlist and all of the > > > > > >'s that I see!!!

I think that Bobby will be making more of the calls at some shows. In particular, I think that both the Albany and Detroit shows could be shows where Bobby makes more calls, simply because of the Saturday night factor. And I for one would love to hear a monster One More Saturday Night / Sugar Magnolia at the Detroit show.

This is getting pretty exciting! I was disappointed with the Toronto Phil show so I don't want to go to this one with my expectations running too high, but I definitely think that we are in for something special at this run of shows by TOO.

    Peace, Mark

  5. Wow ... what a great prize!!!

It is especially fitting given that you had previously posted about wanting to go to the show but it being sold out.

Hope to finally meet you in person, Trevor ... I'm sure that we've been at many I've the same shows, and maybe I've even talked with you ...

    Peace, Mark

  6. Yes, I think the disc sound pretty cool ... I'd love to see the band live ... hopefully they'll make it up this way in 2003.

After hearing Wassabi Collective last night, I'd imagine that Dr. Didg takes things to a similar place at times ... a tribal jungle dance groove.

    Peace, Mark

  7. Wow, what a fantastic show that was last night!!! Tribal jungle jamming that made the crowd dance all night and scream for more. And what a great crowd it was ... lots and lots of friendly people letting loose and getting down.

Thank you show--whore and jambase [Wink] for making this happen!!!

    Peace, Mark

  9. A really nice mix of songs with thought-provoking lyrics that are sung sweetly, jams and grooves that make me want to dance, and more interesting jams that involve improvisation and cool timing changes and unique beats.

I've seen this band 3 times and I've been really impressed every time.

Their new studio cd is also getting lots of action in my cd player.

    Peace, Mark

  10. I've also thought that perhaps instead of listing individual cities in the Watchtower, perhaps we could combine some of them into regions. Yes, Toronto has enough shows to watch on its own, but I think we could combine Kitchener/Waterloo/Guelph into 1 listing, Hamilton/Brantford into 1 listing, and maybe put London into one of those two groupings.

A quick way to search for all shows in the database, or all shows by province, is to go to the Jambands menu link at the top of the page, and then do an event search.

    Peace, Mark

  11. I agree with iKE420 ... this is going to be a fabulous show!!! I wish I could go, but I'm supervising a Battle of the Bands being held at my high school ... I'll be having a much different musical experience than will be happening in Toronto at the 360. But if the Battle ends early, I'll definitely be heading to Toronto for the Oteil & The Peacemekers show.

    Peace, Mark

  12. Yes, Remain in Light is an all-time classic album ... I remember thinking "wow" when Phish covered the album at their '96 Halloween show.

I'm also a big Fear of Music fan.

I haven't heard any Talking Heads in a while (other than the cd I just bought) as I used to have it on vinyl but no longer do.

And yes Sean, I have seen the Stop Making Sense movie but that was ages ago. I used to have a copy of it ...... where did all of my Heads stuff go???!!!???

    Peace, Mark

  13. Last week I was in Encore Records in Kitchener and came across a cd copy of Stop Making Sense, a live cd from Talking Heads. It has been remastered for cd and contains 7 additional tracks. I decided to buy it and wow, am I glad I did.

I had forgotten how much I love this band. I was into them big time in highschool and university (in the early/mid '80's) but it's been a while since I've listened to them, other than listening to Phish versions of Crosseyed & Painless and Cities. Talking Heads are fantastic!!! If you've never heard this band, I strongly suggest getting the Stop Making Sense cd or a live cd entitled The Name of the Band is Talking Heads (I used to have it on album).

I saw the Heads at Kingswood (Canada's Wonderland) back on Fri. Aug. 12, 1983 during the Stop Making Sense tour and it still ranks as tied for the best concert I have ever been to. So good that I remember the date of the show ...... well, having the ticket stub helps [Wink]

I've had the Stop Making Sense cd playing at my house for the last week and everyone in my family grooves and dances around the house when it is on. This cd makes us want to boogie, and I remember at the concert, even my friends who NEVER dance were standing and moving to the music.

Well, time to go and make some breakfast for my son ... while listening to Stop Making Sense, of course!!!

Is anyone else into Talking Heads?

    Peace, Mark
