  1. Jansen hasn't looked good to me yet. Wonder how much rope he gets before the Jays find their 8th inning guy?
  2. Look - I'm a Jays fan. I want them to win. Pitchers are fragile. Your arm isn't supposed to do that. There is a reason (I presume) behind the general 100 pitch count and the 5 days rest etc. Yes, Halladay is a horse and yes he can probably do more then most pitchers would. To me more is 120 pitches. Too much is 138. I err on the side of caution when it comes to the ONE IRREPLACABLE PERSON ON THE TEAM. On top of the fact that if you can't give the ball to your bullpen you can't get to the playoffs. It just seems like a dumb gamble - even if there is only a 10% chance that it has any long-term effects on Halladay's season. I like to gamble. Thats not one I take. Halladay's awesome. We need him. Plus - he had given up four runs. Its not like he was pitching a no-no. Its a long season...
  3. My quick internet search didn't turn up Halladay's injury history. But I got this from Wiki (and yes, I know he says it happened pre-season - point is, it happens): 2004 In 2004, Halladay was placed on the disabled list twice due to right shoulder problems. In just 133.0 innings, he went 8–8 with a 4.20 ERA. He walked 39 batters, seven more than he had walked in 2003 when he had pitched twice as many innings. He later revealed that he had been injured throughout the entire season with a "tired throwing arm", which he believed was from intense workouts in preseason.
  4. I dont' need to prove it. I just need to notice that there are a lot of severely injured arms on the jays the past few years, combined with the generally accepted principle that 100 pitches is a max. 100 fine. 110 fine. 120 if you're Halladay, fine. 138 is a lot. I'm a big jays supporter. Point is that a season is 162 games. To be successful they need Halladay to win what, 18-22 of em, start 35 or so, and have 30 quality starts. Or something.
  5. I hope you're all right. I'm sure that the whole 100 pitch count thing is just made up. None of these teams that try and stick to it and have millions and millions and millions of dollars invested in their pitcher's arms would have done the research. 100 pitches is the standard. Sure you give a workhorse more, by 38% more? Thats too much. Especially on a team that is getting a reputation for injured pitchers... It catches up eventaully.
  6. Right. And he would have said "I've thrown too many pitches" if thats how he felt right? Atheletes don't pull themselves from games. Sure, give Doc a little more lee-way. Thats called 120 pitches. He is the best in the game. The playoff chances are zero without him. Can't think of how to incorporate this so, what do Litche, Marcum, McGowan, Jansen, Ryan, Accardo and I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting have in common? They've all blown their arms out playing for the Jays in the past 3 years. All I'm saying is don't add Doc. It wasn't a no hitter. It wasn't a shut out. It was a lot of pitches.
  7. I don't like the 138 pitches line myself. I really don't. Sure he's the best. I agree. But 138 pitches is too much to make a guy throw. Give someone else the 9th.
  8. Don't worry, I know. You were in the "known / calculated" group for sure.
  9. It seems I may have been smacking a lot of unknown/random ass on the dance floor (and known / calculated ass for that matter). If I smacked your ass please accept my apology. If you liked it then I take the apology back. I can't make any promises about future events but I promise I won't do any more ass slapping at Pepper Jacks. Unfortunately.
  10. Fair to say. But at the same time, when the losing streak is much longer than any winning streak this year I think the concerns are legitimate. Hope they've turned it around though.
  11. We could get you a kiddie pool and you could dive down Gonzo
  12. The Jays are at home this weekend.
  13. lets hope they go on a winning streak until they face wakefield again!
  14. Didn't they? I mean, really, didn't they?
  15. 4. The Blue Jays have been one of baseball's most surprising teams this season largely because of their improved offense, and yet, the guy who hits right in the middle of the team's order is one of the game's worst hitters with runners in scoring position so far. Vernon Wells is batting just .167 in those situations, the fourth worst among hitters with at least 50 at-bats with RISP.
  16. The difference being pools are designed for recreational use. A drowning is an accident. Guns kill people. Thats what they're for.
  17. At least they didn't let BJ blow it. My god. The black sox played better than this.
  18. 8-8 Now can I panic? Wow. What a horrible horrible inning.
  19. Instead we waste Downs with 1 out bases loaded. Another run scores.
  20. He was pitching well when the team was doing well. But you bring in a one inning guy to start the inning and he loads the bases you get him out, don't you? Or at least get him out when he hits the next batter and scores a run.
  21. just got Jam-On. Haven't heard Panic once. But I've heard Opium by moe. 4 times already. I don't know moe too well - is that their only song?
  22. and then he hits a batter to score a run and plate the tying run. Why why why???
  23. I give a shit. WHy the fuck is Carleson still in after 2 singles and a walk and no outs.
