  1. Hey, happy birthday, big guy. Hope you have an awesome time. RnB
  2. A lifetime of enjoyment of the Dead, you lucky devil ... wish I was that cool at your age, I didn't get into the Dead until my late 20s.
  3. 8-27-72 ... it will crush your puny head.
  4. And here I was just thinking that it was just a celebration of my 37th birthday
  5. "And it only weight 500 pounds ..."
  6. Simple solution ... spontaneous moshpit at whichever main stage does not have an act currently playing, that way the lawnchairs will be destroyed.
  7. Sounds cool, I will e-mail my home address.
  8. Actually, I am wondering how the lawn chair system would work this year ... since instead of having one main stage where the lawnchair mafia would set up, they have two at opposite ends of the field and alternate act, so it doesn't look like they would be able to stay in one spot without missing half the main stage lineup.
  9. I know I started this thread, but just wanted to say that the Marillion concert DVD Marbles On The Road plus Blackhawk Down are both proving to have awesome surround sound.
  10. One of the 7, I assume ... it was deliberately edited out of the original broadcast.
  11. Check out the closing shots of Woodstock, the movie ...
  12. Ah, my other most used line ... Mr. Carlson : With God as my witness, I swear I thought turkeys could fly
  13. Thing is, it wasn't just an enthusiastic wave, it was a rather jaunty version of the Black Power salute ... this was the conversation that began with Les saying, "I couldn't help noticing that both of you are black ... " My most often used WKRP quote? Johnny : When everyone is out to get you, paranoia is just good thinking.
  14. One of the Scum Of The Earth was played by Michael Des Barres, who was later a cast member on the (justifiably) short lived New WKRP.
  15. Nothing to do with anything, but in the cover art to Blue Kentucky Girl, Emmylou Harris looks amazingly like Jan "Bailey Quarters" Smithers.
  16. Not sure, could be ... as I said, I won it, so I didn't have to pay for it, and so far it sounds great in our living room, plus it plays all the discs I need it to play.
  17. #221: Songs you enjoy that would surprise your former self. 1. Earl Johnson & His Dixie Entertainers - John Henry Blues 2. Dobie Gray - Drift Away 3. John Allan Cameron - The Bluenose 4. Arvo Part - Fratres 5. Todd Rundgren- I saw the light 6. Hoagie Carmichael - Stardust 7. Rolling Stones- Sympathy for the Devil 8. Willie Nelson - Blue Sky 9. Gram Parsons - We'll Sweep Out The Ashes 10. Tammy Wynette - Stand By Your Man 11. Mamma Mia - ABBA 12
  18. Weird thing is the system I got (Sony Dream System) says specifically it does *not* play DVD-Audio ... disappointing, but I couldn't beat the price.
  19. I wasn't sure what the difference between 5.1 and DTS, but yes, it does have both options. Thanks for your help ... what exactly makes it better?
  20. Hey, there, Through circumstances I still haven't figured out, I somehow managed to win a home theatre system at work. This 5.1 surround business is still new and exciting to me, and I was wondering if people could reccommend which DVDs make the most cool usage of 5.1 . Movies or concert films are both of interest.
  21. Drat, sorry, any way this topic can be removed? I swear I checked but couldn't see the thread.
  22. Didn't see this posted, pedal Steel legend Sneaky Pete Kleinow passed away recently at an SF care facility. Most famous as a part of the original Flying Burrito Brothers, he first came to my attention for sessions he played for Frank Zappa and Matthew Sweet, but in his day he worked with practically everyone. Vaya con dios, Sneakster
