  1. Rob..did you get a tracking number yet? I didn't get mine' date=' or a credit card charge. Apparently they're shipping and delivering without even charging the credit cards first for tons of people. Most aren't even getting a shipping notification email.[/quote']

That's good to know, in a weird way. I have been obsessively checking my online banking info, and haven't seen a charge. I also heard that they are processing international orders last, which may explain the delay.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat with both you guys ... I checked the website to see if there was any news on a shipping date and found people talking about having got it. It was in the comments section I found they weren't e-mailing shipping information. Guess there really isn't anything to do at this point but to wait, I don't really have time to chase down Rhino for information.

  2. Some funny ones here and some down right uncalled for ones (re: Eric Clapton)

    3. Morrissey on Brett Anderson

“He’ll never forgive God for not making him Angie Bowie.â€

I am a huge fan of Suede, but this is just too awesome.

Not sure if it quite counts, but I love the story of Peter Grant going up to Bob Dylan at some record company shindig and saying, "Hello, I'm Peter Grant, I'm the manager of Led Zeppelin", and Dylan replying, "Look, buddy, do you see me going up to you and telling you my problems?"

  3. I agree that it was confusing that they left early' date=' but really there wasn't much more they could do.[/quote']

"Then She Did" has been on recent setlists and I was really hoping they would include it.

*spit take* My two favorite songs of theirs are "Three Days" and "Then She Did" and I always figured there was no way in hell they would play them. When they did "Three Days" I felt lucky. Now I am pissed.

  4. Jane's Addiction were great but I did not like Perry Farrell's penchant for changing some of the vocal lines and they ended almost 15 minutes early! (And came on late.)

    "Ocean Size" was epic though.

Changing of vocal lines tends to happen when vocalists get older and can't hit the notes anymore. I agree that it was confusing that they left early, but really there wasn't much more they could do. We are really talking about a band with 2 albums to draw on (didn't want to hear anything from their early independent live thing, or the reunion album, or any new stuff they might have been working on).

  5. Gomez:

    NORTH AMERICAN SUMMER TOUR CANCELLED

With great regret we must cancel the remaining 8 dates of our North American tour. After a couple of days battling vocal loss, Ben met with a specialist who determined that he must take the next two weeks to recover with absolute voice rest.

Our show at Terminal 5 tonight will take place as planned with Ian and Tom taking the vocal duties. We know it'll make for a unique night.

For all our fans who have already purchased tickets to the cancelled concerts, please contact the venue for instructions on show refunds. Ian will perform solo sets supporting John Butler Trio in Raleigh, Charlotte, Atlanta and Richmond.

We are intent on resuming our touring schedule upon receiving a clean bill of health from Ben's doctors. We couldn't be sorrier for this outcome. We really hope to see you soon!

FRICK!!!!!!! Hope he gets better, but still, ... FRICK!!!!!!!

  6. btw' date=' did anyone catch the kids getting a $10,000 check from the Malhotra Family Foundation? They're the kids that were busking outside of bluesfest last year after Arcade Fire, then Arcade Fire joined them. They were so impressed that they setup this donation thingy and they're matching the $10,000 making it a cool $20,000 apparently to help kickstart a career in music. They seem a little young to get 20 grand.

    [/quote']

Yeah, they were given the cheque immediately before The Lips went on stage and when the presenter mentioned Arcade Fire I was dying for Coyne to come out and make some smart remark about it. Assuming the two bands are still "feuding" that is. ;)

So the money goes directly to the Dube brothers? I wasn't really clear on what that was all about.

    From their website :

We helped to raise over $106,000 for Haiti relief and support. Now we are helping to solve problems with poverty, long-term, through the KANPE Foundation. KANPE works to break the cycle of poverty in Haiti by helping the poorest families to become financially independent through literacy, money management, housing, farming, health care, and nutrition. Arcade Fire will generously match your donation dollar for dollar so your $1 turns into $2!

They did state at the presentation that the donations were going to KANPE, not the brothers themselves.

  7. ps...Bootsy was great.

    Beer lineups were a nightmare.

Main stage area set up is poorly designed.

Anyone know what the point was to having the two stages like this?

To keep ticketless people from lining up on the sidewalk and getting a free show. It didn't work, they just lined up at the War museum.

And yes, Bootsy was great. Finally got a chance to see Bernie Worrell (I will take their word for it that it was Bernie Worrell, I couldn't see his head for the keyboards).
