  1. if you ordered through friends of massey hall, i wouldn't hold your breathe for a cd.
  2. ordinary people reminds me of what trey was trying to do with tab. you know, writing strong songs with even stronger horn lines...
  3. Better late than never.... I am finally fulfilling my end of the deal (sorry for the lateness secondtube) Quote:#2) you HAVE to give a small report of the show...doesn't have to be huge, just your thoughts. Here goes; I arrived one or two songs in and headed for the balcony where I was met by the usher, he told me to sit anywhere I wanted because my seats were in the middle of the crowd and he wasn't going to walk me through the crowd. (fair enough) Initially, I sat on the rail directly to stage right, after realizing that I couldn't see the drummer and the right handed bass player, I decided to swoop around to the direct opposite side where I had a clear view of the drummer and was basically looking over JM. I have a limited knowledge of what JM has done in the past, basically limited to Mahavishnu Orchestra and other solo recordings from the late 60's early 70's where he was ripping through what seemed to be endless guitar licks. I guess that is kind of what I expected going in and on this particular night, was underwhelmed (if thats a word...) JM did just seem to sit back and watch his masterpiece of a band that he put together tear the hall a new one. His young bass player (that could have been his grandson) absolutely ran a muck on that bass when he was in the limelight. The drummer was incredible, I tend to be drawn to the drummer when I see music and this guy did not disappoint when he was in the limelight. The 2nd drummer(tiny kit)/keys player was cool, his keys were kind of un-noticable throughout, but his percussion definitely added to the mix, he did have a fun interaction with the #1 drummer for a brief time that I think eventually went on for too long. Overall, it was a solid show with great musicians, I didn't really feel that the band flowed together as one though and when the individuals weren't peddling their individual talents to the audience it was what I would call, a psychedelic smooth jazz show. On that note, I would like to thank secondtube again for the opportunity to experience such a legend at such a steal of a deal and I look forward to somehow getting back at you down the road. ********* Well, i'm VERY glad you made it to the show...i didn't know what to expect with that show, except i had a feeling he would be laying back....like the last time i saw metheny....again, i'm glad i was able to help another see a jazz living legend....
  4. his last tour, greendale, had two nights in toronto... obviously the greendale set was the same, as it was an individual performance, but the encore each night (seven songs with crazy horse) differed.
  5. i can't even imagine how amazing bad fog would sound at massey, as would ambulance blues and Albequrque..... awesome!

  11. thats what the seller is telling me.... but as a novice ebay user, i'm still getting a little antsy.
  12. i've received my massey hall purchased tix as well as my ticketmaster purchased tix.... i'm still waiting on my ebay purchased ticket.....which i'm a little concerned about.
  13. have fun tonight! (and the folks going to toronto tomorrow night!)
  14. my personal highlight was the dusting off of Soldiers Home.... I love that song. Hearing Ron Elliot on keys was a treat, as he was the keys player when I first starting seeing them.
  15. damn, no-go that night... neil's the man.
  16. thanks for the great time last night fatties! what a fun night to be part of.... edger, you rock!!!! made it to about 1:45am...which is pretty damn good as i was on the water this morning at 7am, Lake Erie. thanks for putting it all together gentleman!
  17. pais, you state things so much better than i do!
  18. great team we make pais.... i really can't wait to see ya my friend...its been too long! i'll be heading down about 8:45, as the folks we are driving (ms laurie and marco) are looking for a table and probably to hit on todd a little.... call me if pais can't get ya there, but it sounds like he's got it all wrapped up. 905-383-4538
  19. greg, i was going to offer you a lift into dundas, as we are playing taxi for a few awesome folks.... but i'm not sure how long we will be there.....my body hasn't stayed up later than about 11pm in many many many many weekends.... i'll have my yukon truck, if i make it to the end of the show, your welcome to come back into the city with us.
  20. i find this is like my etr conversations i have with friends. dont make 'em cheaper. just like dont take away the charge for the etr. i have no problem paying. if those tix were 25% of the price i paid (50 bucks a ticket), i'd care to wager i wouldn't be going to all three nights.... like i said earlier in a thread, keep the ticket prices high, and keep the fly by nighters away until he tours during the summer, and you can get your lawn tix for 45 bucks. until then, it'll cost to see where he's playing. btw, if he was solo, i would gladly have paid even more..... you only live once.
  21. i'll without a doubt be going to all the neil shows....but mr rider, i'll pm you next time i have something i cannot attend. (i often buy concert tix without thinking ahead, lol)
  22. ok, i've confirmed our rental cottage, so we are 100% going, pending some crazy, unsual circumstances (like a hurricane or the like). i'll be in touch via pm how i'll get the ticket to you.
