  2. No, they didn't, unlike the moe. show there in October, when they wouldn't let us bring in our mic stands. I think there was clearer communication between the promoter and the venue staff this time. The only restriction on the use of the stand was that I couldn't put it on the floor, which I wouldn't want to do anyway. I set up the stand right beside the house board, even inside the chain around the booth, and had no problems at all. Aloha, Brad
  3. David Lindley & Hani Naser, Official Bootleg #1 ("More Than Eva Braun" and "Play It All Night Long"). Official Bootleg #2 is on deck for "The Jimmy Hoffa Memorial Building Blues". Aloha, Brad

  6. While I got patted down on my way in, the security guy didn't through the pockets of my jeans or my jacket, and didn't even ask to look into my backpack. The only restriction on the use of my mic stand was that I wasn't allowed to set it up on the floor, so I put it beside the board, where I wanted it to be. Aloha, Brad
  7. That list leaves out the (short, less than three-minute) "No Quarter" Led Zeppelin cover/tease in the first set (it might have led into "Syncopated Strangers"), which was to my ears the one let-down of the night. Aside from that, it was a blast of a show, especially when Jamie Shields of The New Deal sat in on keys for the opening tune of the second set. Aloha, Brad

    BEER!!

Asparagus: The Sgt. Major IPA from Scotch-Irish Brewing Company (look for solid-red six-packs of stubbies at the LCBO) is also really nice, and fairly hoppy. Aloha, Brad
  9. Thanks, Dave! I'll try to check them out. Aloha, Brad
  10. I'm going to be in Toronto on Tuesday for The DoneFors @ The Cameron House, but that'll end fairly early. One of the Forward Music Group of bands, The Slate Pacific, is on a no-cover bill at The Horseshoe, so I'm thinking of checking them out. They seem a bit on the slow side (melancholy, maybe?), but that might make for a nice chilled out night. Has anyone seen them live? How were they? Aloha, Brad
  11. I think you have an extra "http" in the URL you embedded in your post; here's the video embedded for easy viewing. VVPEaL4_6c4 Aloha, Brad

  18. Maybe we need to make concerts some kind of competitive sport, with scores, so that it'd make sense for the paper to have deadlines for concert reviews that were as late as the deadlines for sporting events. Aloha, Brad
