    Cheese and Crackers

I bought what I thought was Gorgonzola today, only to find when I got home that it's actually "Borgonzola"*. It's made by Tre Stelle, so I figure it's not crap, but I wondered about the name. It turns out that Tre Steele makes Gorgonzola, with Borgonzola being "a semi-soft ripened cheese that incoportates [sic] the smooth, mild flavour of Brie with a dash of Blue throughout. This cheese was a finalist in the Blue Cheese category for the 2000 and 2002 Canadian Cheese Grand Prix." I'll try it later today. Aloha, Brad * Resisting this cheese may be futile...

I'd like to ask him his opinion on a widower and a widow getting married and having sex with each other. Is that "lawful" if either or both of them had had "lawful" sex with their first partners? Aloha, Brad

    Albany - Night 1

It's not embeddable, but the official video of this tune by TV On The Radio is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0gghjczAt0 Aloha, Brad
  6. You mis-remembered it, I think, NW. Jodie was driving, and after some of the usual questions (where we lived, what we did for livings) came this: Border Guard: "How long were you in the US?" Jodie: "We went to Albany." BG (who didn't realize or care that Jodie hadn't answered his question): "Did you get punched out?" (dark circles under NW's eyes) NW (hastily unfolding the visor mirror to check): "No" BG: "Buh-bye!" Aloha, Brad

    Steamboat

It's not bad. It's got a front room, which is more like a restaurant with tables and a bar, and a back/music room with a stage, a big floor in front of it (Mavericks-sized, maybe), and another bar. I was there on Thanksgiving weekend, and it was still being renovated (there wasn't a sound booth per se, just a table with the mixing console on it), but even then, I've been to worse places. Aloha, Brad
  9. It's like a great concert and an after-party all in one! In. Aloha, Brad

  14. I remember being at my first Phish show, and not knowing any of their music, and hearing the crowd go nuts when that calliope sound started off (what I now know to be) "Esther." I loved it that night, and it's one of my favourite tunes on "Junta". I don't think I've heard one since, so getting one in Albany would be a highlight for me. Aloha, Brad
  15. You don't use the full URL that YouTube gives you; instead, you use just the part of it that comes after the "v=" to the end of the URL, or the first "&" character in the URL, whichever comes first. (Do a quote on my post to see how I embedded the player, and compare it to the URL in your post.) Aloha, Brad
  16. I've seen Larry Graves, of Mr. Something Something, use a small (10"?) loudspeaker stuck in front of his kick drum and wired into the PA system as a microphone. Aloha, Brad
  17. As much as I hate animated graphics in ads, a Bluebudzz banner with the members' heads, all neckless, slowly bobbing up and down, as if in a lava lamp, might be even creepier cool. Aloha, Brad

    Phish - Albany

What an awesome coincidence that you'll be arriving in Albany with Jodie- didn't you guys travel to Coventry together too?! We did, and we also saw Phish together (front row, Page side) in Albany in 2003. Aloha, Brad
  19. Note that the "December 4th" part of the listing is right, but December 4th is a Friday. This event has been entered into the Ottawa calendar: http://www.jambands.ca/sanctuary/showtopic.php?tid/254908/ Aloha, Brad
  20. The Orbit Room's website says "$15 at the door", with no mention of advance tickets. I may head right there after BNB and camp out for a couple of nights. Aloha, Brad
