Did you ever wake up to find

A day that broke up your mind

Destroyed your notion of circular time

It’s just that demon life has got you in it’s sway

It’s just that demon life has got you in it’s sway

Ain’t flinging tears out on the dusty ground

For all my friends out on the burial ground

Can’t stand the feeling getting so brought down

It’s just that demon life has got me in it’s sway

It’s just that demon life has got me in it’s sway

There must be ways to find out

Love is the way they say is really strutting out

Hey, hey, hey now

One day I woke up to find

Right in the bed next to mine

Someone that broke me up with a corner of her smile, yeah

It’s just that demon life has got me in it’s sway

It’s just that demon life has got me in it’s sway

It’s just that demon life has got me in it’s sway

It’s just that demon life has got me...

It’s just that demon life has got me...

On our very first date she tickled my asshole and called me a whore with her tounge in my ear

Then all of a sudden she got so offended

When I complained she was drinking my beer

Well I think that you think you know what I'm thinking

But all day I'm thinking of drinking with you

So why tell me why? Did we drink everyday for the whole month of May

If it's true what you say

That you don't like to get drunk with me

Well, I think that you think you know what I'm thinking

When all day I'm thinking of drinking with you

My love. My love, you crazy fool

We have festering to do

I'm rendered insomniac

'Til the 504 will bring you back

You'll find me on Roncesvalles

When late October falls

With a piano man in a Polish bar

Trading blood for alcohol

Your lemons and your ginger tea

Are fighting off my cold

The taste of you is on my tongue

Along with every song you've sung

You pass the Irving Big Stop

With a melancholy smile

Make love to my memory

With every sentimental mile

You love me so madly

So sadly you go

We equate our love with loss

'Cause we sold it to the dead

Please inform the next of kin

You can stop taking your medicine

I challenge you to be strong for me

And furrow up my brow

Disarm my face with all the savage love

That your giant heart allows

You love me so madly

So sadly you go

You're the perfect means to my end

You're the perfect means to my end

You're the perfect means to my end

Someone's gonna get us for this

Kiss

My heart my heart a heavy heart

Is chained around your leg

Drag me along Sunnyside

Slow your pace, shorten your stride

Love me through the winter

Insatiable and strong

No more tears to suffer through

Some Leaving Autumn song

You love me so madly

So sadly you go

Bleach and wine and turpentine

To clean this dirty slate

Moral highground lost to mews

It disappeared beneath our shoes

Whisk me far away from here

So we can finally settle down

Hide inside each other's eyes

In a Nova Scotian town

You love me so madly

So madly you stay

You love me so madly

So madly you stay

This one ("Means To My End") is pretty much stuck in my head right now. The Your lemons and your ginger tea / Are fighting off my cold is neat: it's a minor detail of a relationship in one partner is caring for the other; the other details (I assume "the 504" refers to a Toronto street car route?) are cool, too.

Aloha,

Brad

Written by Bob Dylan with additional lyrics by Ketch Secor

Performed by the Old Crow Medicine Show

Headed down south to the land of the pines

And I'm thumbin' my way into North Caroline

Starin' up the road

And pray to God I see headlights

I made it down the coast in seventeen hours

Pickin' me a bouquet of dogwood flowers

And I'm a hopin' for Raleigh

I can see my baby tonight

So rock me mama like a wagon wheel

Rock me mama anyway you feel

Hey mama rock me

Rock me mama like the wind and the rain

Rock me mama like a south-bound train

Hey mama rock me

Runnin' from the cold up in New England

I was born to be a fiddler in an old-time stringband

My baby plays the guitar

I pick a banjo now

Oh, the North country winters keep a gettin' me now

Lost my money playin' poker so I had to up and leave

But I ain't a turnin' back

To livin' that old life no more

So rock me mama like a wagon wheel

Rock me mama anyway you feel

Hey mama rock me

Rock me mama like the wind and the rain

Rock me mama like a south-bound train

Hey mama rock me

Walkin' to the south out of Roanoke

I caught a trucker out of Philly

Had a nice long toke

But he's a headed west from the Cumberland Gap

To Johnson City, Tennessee

And I gotta get a move on fit for the sun

I hear my baby callin' my name

And I know that she's the only one

And if I die in Raleigh

At least I will die free

So rock me mama like a wagon wheel

Rock me mama anyway you feel

Hey mama rock me

Rock me mama like the wind and the rain

Rock me mama like a south-bound train

Hey mama rock me

Did you clean yourself

for me last night,

put the water out and don a marigold

in your hair to bring me here

and tie one on you?

Did you dress me down and liquor me up

to make me last for the minute

when the red comes over you

like it does when you're filled with love ...

or whatever you call it?

Do you feel alone when I'm in my head

while you wait for me

to take my breath?

Do you still feel ..... clean

when the only dirt is the dirt I left?

How can you blame yourself

when I did everything I wanted to?

you just made yourself available

you just made yourself available

why did you dress me down (repeat)

and liquor me up (repeat)

Sun so bright that I'm nearly blind

Fool as I'm working it out in my mind

Warm as the dope running down my spine

But I don't care 'bout you

And I've got nothing to do

Feel the warmth of the air that I breathe

Even free-er than DMT

Feel the warmth of the sun in me

But I don't care 'bout you

And I've got nothing to do

Love in the middle of an afternoon

Just me and my spike in my arm and my spoon

Feel the warmth of the sun and the moon

But I don't care 'bout you

And I've got nothing...

I think I'm in love (probably just hungry)

Think I'm your friend (probably just lonely)

Think you got me in a spin now (probably just turning)

Think I'm a fool for you (probably just learning)

Think that I can rock and roll (probably just twisting)

Think I wanna tell the world (probably ain't listening)

Come on...

Think I can fly (probably just falling)

Think I'm the life and soul (probably just snorting)

Think I can hit the mark (probably just aiming)

Think my name is on your lips (probably complaining)

Think that I have got it bad (probably contageous)

Think that I'm a winner baby (probably Las Vegas)

Come on...

Think I'm alive (probably just breathing)

Think you stole my heart now baby (probably just stealing)

Think I'm on fire (probably just smoking)

Think that I'm your dream girl (probably just dreaming)

Think I'm the best (probably like all the rest)

Think that I could be your man (oh, probably just think you can)

Come on...

I think I'm in love, I think I'm in love

You who are on the road

Must have a code that you can live by

And so become yourself

Because the past is just a good-bye

Teach your children well

Their father's hell did slowly go by

And feed them on your dreams

The one they pick's the one you'll know by

Don't you ever ask them why

If they told you, you would cry

So just look at them and sigh

And know they love you

And you of tender years Can you hear and do you care and

Can't know the fears Can you see we

That your elders grew by Must be free to

And so please help Teach the children

Them with your youth To believe and

They seek the truth Make a world that

Before they can die We can live in

Teach your parents well

Their children's hell will slowly go by

And feed them on your dreams

The one they pick's the one you'll know by

Don't you ever ask them why

If they told you, you would cry

So just look at them and sigh

And know they love you

The world is moving to the song I hear,

Who's that singing, wind is rushing in my ear,

Mind gushing memories almost lost everything,

Felony and fellows running in my dream,

We were in the van where the hits were driving,

Saw myself In the highlands at age 13

And I'm asking questions to the present day me,

Moving backwards down the hill see we were posting.

[Chorus]

Moonlight illuminate my night and my days sunray make the people say

And a vision something's missing so they're screaming out loud

Keep my feet on ground and my head in the clouds.

I'm the arrow, you're my bow, shoot me forth and I will go

And I know and I go and I go get up and go

Make me feel its for real tell me what you know.

I don't need to glorify,

Ate the apple of the tree and tried to lie,

In the garden ill remember

That's when I started to sing

I said death brings life into uncertain things,

Cut some slack for me

Sun setting autumn breeze

Sound is moving like a chorus

Keep hearing that melody,

Check the radio but theres nothing playing,

Check the radio again but theres nothing playing.

[Chorus]

Rewind:

Dub-wise!

Swing low, sweet chariot of flames

Change my name, Yo!

It Was always the same,

Till if only what you find when you climb,

Check the radio but of all that shines there's no time,

My life is making your mind work in overtime,

But along the line you'll have to pay for the crime.

Slow it down You turbo too soon,

Vroom vroom then you want to blast off unto the moon,

But you might get trapped in a temple of doom,

You might get trapped in a temple of doom.

[Chorus]

Bulldozers and Dirt

lyrics by Patterson Hood

I met your mama when I was sixteen

You couldn’t have been anymore than three

She caught me stealing ya'lls color TV

She called the cops and they arrested me

She was the wildest thing I’d ever seen

the way she pointed that shotgun at me

the police hauled my ass off to jail

Your mama signed the trailer to help make the bail

She picked me up and drove me home

said “I’ll learn you not to roamâ€

Green green grass under my feet

but all I can think about’s the dirt underneath

Bulldozers and dirt Bulldozers and dirt

behind the trailer, my desert

Them red clay piles are heaven on earth

I get my rocks off, bulldozers and dirt

I got a pickup that’s up on blocks

and I’m up to my ass in debt and hock

and I can’t get the red stains off of my socks

and I can’t get you off of my mind

I’ve lived with your mama for eleven years

Through good times, and bad times, fist fights and tears

but something comes over me when you come near

so won’t you come over and sip on this beer

Bulldozers and dirt Bulldozers and dirt

behind the trailer, my desert

I don’t mean no harm, I just like to flirt

but most of all I like bulldozers and dirt

most of all I like bulldozers and dirt

Here's the lyrics from the greatest punk song from the greatest punk band The Queen Haters:

I Hate the Bloody Queen

I've always had a dream

I'd like to meet the queen

I'd punch her in the face

Yeah, that would make me laugh

I'd love to kick her in the teeth

And then I'd make a picture of it

In lovely Ektachrome

And then I'd give it to the prince

(Chorus)

I hate the bloody Queen

She made me go to school

I hate the bloody Queen

And all her bloody rules

(solo)

I'd like to drown the Queen

Off the coast of Argentine

Throw her off a battleship

With her Falkland war machine

She taxes me to death

I can't afford me dope

I'd like to get her high

Yeah, that would make me laugh

(Chorus)

I hate the bloody Queen (repeat x3)

I feel sorry for you Lady Di

Havin' a mother-in-law like that

The Queen Haters - Martin Short (vocals), Eugene Levy (lead guitar), John Candy (drums), Joe Flaherty (bass), Andrea Martin (guitar)

The drunk kids, the catholics

They’re all about the same

They’re waiting for something

Hoping to be saved

Well I have been happy the past couple days

Just thinking of the women who’ve taken your place

And every night I think I certainly won't ever sleep sober or alone

And then suddenly it occurs to me

I've slept alone before you

And so I pour myself the stiffest drink my stomach can stand

And convince myself to lay back down again

I’m gonna lay back down, I’m gonna lay back down again

The drunk kids, the catholics

They're all about the same

They’re waiting for something

Hoping to be saved

The drunk kids, the catholics

They're all about the same

They’re waiting for something

Hoping to be saved

The drunk kids, the catholics

They're all about the same

They’re waiting for something

Hoping to be saved

They crawl from the oceans

To paint in the caves

But I’m working all weekend

I need to get paid

They crawl from the oceans

To paint in the caves

But I’m working all weekend

I need to get paid

They crawl from the oceans

To paint in the caves

But I’m working all weekend

I need to get paid

They crawl from the oceans

To paint in the caves

But I’m working all weekend

I need to get paid

Come back to life

Give us a sign

When was it her heart stopped working tonight?

Now's not the time to argue

Who was the one giving out the lines

Saturday night, everything fine

Until this problem did arrive

What's there to do?

Where's there to go?

What should we say when the cops arrive

Cause we'll need an answer

(Think of an answer!)

It was hard to see this young girl die

But not enough to bring a change in lifestyle

Terrible to see a good friend die

But not enough to bring a change in lifestyle

Come back to life

Save us the time

From having to calculate this lie

To ourselves, for our sake

I wish she would just open her eyes

Saturday night, nothing's gone right

I'd say it is time to decide

What's there to do

Clear out the house

And what will we say when her parents arrive?

Cause we'll need an answer

(Think of an answer!)

It was hard to see this young girl die

But not enough to bring a change in lifestyle

Terrible to see a good friend die

But not enough to bring a change in lifestyle

Not enough to change ...

Dublin Blues

I wish I was in Austin

In the Chili Parlour Bar

Drinkin' Mad Dog Margaritas

And not carin' where you are

But here I sit in Dublin

Just rollin' cigarettes

Holdin' back and chokin' back

The shakes with every breath

Forgive me all my anger

Forgive me all my faults

There's no need to forgive me

For thinkin' what I thought

I loved you from the git go

I'll love you till I die

I loved you on the Spanish steps

The day you said goodbye

I am just a poor boy

Work's my middle name

If money was a reason

I would not be the same

I'll stand up and be counted

I'll face up to the truth

I'll walk away from trouble

But I can't walk away from you

Forgive me all my anger

Forgive me all my faults

There's no need to forgive me

For thinkin' what I thought

I loved you from the git go

I'll love you till I die

I loved you on the Spanish steps

The day you said goodbye

I have been to Fort Worth

I have been to Spain

I have been to proud

To come in out of the rain

I have seen the David

I've seen the Mona Lisa too

And I have heard Doc Watson

Play Columbus Stockade Blues

Forgive me all my anger

Forgive me all my faults

There's no need to forgive me

For thinkin' what I thought

I loved you from the git go

I'll love you till I die

I loved you on the Spanish steps

The day you said goodbye

Well,I wish I was in Austin

In the Chili Parlour Bar

Drinkin' Mad Dog Margaritas

And not carin' where you are

Drivin' Nails In My Coffin

-Gerald Irby

My sweetheart is gone and I'm so lonely.

He said that he and I were through.

So I started out drinkin' for pastime:

Drivin' nails in my coffin over you.

I'm just drivin' nails in my coffin,

Every time I drink a bottle of booze.

I'm just drivin' nails in my coffin:

Drivin' those nails over you.

Ever since the day that we parted,

I've been so sad and so blue.

I'm always thinkin' of you, love,

And I just can't quit drinkin' that old booze.

I'm just drivin' nails in my coffin,

Ev'ry time I drink a bottle of booze.

I'm just drivin' nails in my coffin:

Drivin' those nails over you.

You turned me down, you don't want me.

There's nothin' now I can lose.

I'm just drivin' those nails in my coffin.

An' worryin', my darlin', over you.

I'm just drivin' nails in my coffin,

Ev'ry time I drink a bottle of booze.

I'm just drivin' nails in my coffin:

Drivin' those nails over you.

I'm just drivin' nails in my coffin,

Ev'ry time I drink a bottle of booze.

I'm just drivin' nails in my coffin:

Drivin' those nails over you.

I pave my own road, made my own bed

I never get rest, so I'll sleep when I'm dead

I hang out with the freaks til the break of day

I don't recommend it, but for me its a way

I got a honky tonk habit

And I just can't stop

Its in my blood, I should quit

But I like it alot
