Similar - Need Recently Released CD Picks

AD

Recommended Posts

A friend who works at the Ottawa Sun tells me they are having a CD sale of all the stuff they've received recently to review... So I have a big list already made up, but I'm wondering if there are any other discs that they might of received that I would like.

I've already covered most of the recent major-label releases, so I'm mostly looking for smaller acts that would have sent in something to be reviewed... There's a few discs on there that I already have or are hoping to get for gifts... Heck, if there's something YOU would want, let me know and I'll try my best to see if they have it. Apparently they have crates and crates of CDs for sale.

Here is my list of what I'm looking for so far..

How do you get in on this action? Invite only?

I'm not even in on it; a co-worker used to work for the Sun, she sends the list I give her to her ex-co-workers who then scrounge around for what I want.

Convoluted, but for $2 / cd it's worth it for me to simply type a list.

Edit: Thanks StoneMtn, it's now on the list.

Hell, just go to Pitchfork and do this yourself ya lazy bastard!

Jesus man, I did. Half the ones you are pointing out to me are already on the list!

(But thanks for the suggestions, they are all going on the list).

The new Kanye West is fantastic. As is anything Sufijan Stevens has released.

Wierd. The Son VOlt is one of those newfangled 'one side is a CD, the other side is a DVD' discs, and it features a disclaimer on the package that reads:

The audio side of this disc does not conform to CD specifications and therefore will not play on some CD and DVD players.

That's strange to me.

Sufjan Stevens - Illinois

Wilderness - Wilderness

Well, they wouldn't have had either of those, because I didn't send them to the Ottawa Sun! Same goes for The Magic Numbers. They didn't get sent any of them for review.
