StoneMtn
Kermit celebrates 50th - in Kermit, Texascanada.com October 14, 2005KERMIT, Texas -- Kermit the Frog has begun a globe-hopping tour to mark his 50th birthday -- with a celebration in Kermit, Texas. The town of about 5,700 rolled out the green carpet Friday for the famous singing and dancing Muppet and former star of TV's Sesame Street. Kermit was given the key to the city and crowned honorary homecoming king. The West Texas town also had Kermit's face painted on its water tower. Kermit thanked the residents for helping him launch his birthday whirlwind celebration. A 50-stop tour will cross four continents and last until the end of 2006. The beloved frog's stops include the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, the Great Wall of China and Johnson Space Center in Houston. Kermit's creator, Jim Henson, was born in Mississippi and named the frog after a childhood friend.http://www.canada.com/entertainment/story.html?id=f77c5695-4fdb-49a2-beaa-644733ee2a6e

StoneMtn
I'm wondering what the odds are of "Electric Mayhem" backing him up (or at least making cameos)

I just finished playing my Muppets CD in the car for some kids I babysit and they were completely digging it. (as was I ) Man, if Kermit heads anywhere close to here, I'll DEFINITELY be there. h
i still have the tribute they aired on an old video tape - where they explain to the muppets who jim is and that he's died. I pull it out every year or so and tear up.
arcane
I don't remember that one. I'll have to look it up.
bradm
I think I've seen it. IIRC, it takes place in the theatre where "The Muppet Show" was set, with Kermit strangely absent until the very end. Wasn't there a bit in it about them noticing the name that signed their paycheques?Aloha,Brad
Velvet
Wow, would I like to see that.
StoneMtn
Wow, would I like to see that. I know what you're thinking Velvet. I seriously doubt that in the episode they get a good enough close-up shot of the cheques and his signature to draft a decent forgery though. h
yes that's it - the paycheck thing. The tape i have is an original taped from the tv airing. Dont know if you would be able to find it on a torrent site or not. I'd be interested to find out if it existed out there...
bradm
There's an IMDB entry for it, but no info as to whether it's available. Aloha, Brad
bradm
Also, while Googling for Jim Henson tributes, I came across this bit of weirdness, which is described as being "beautifully disturbing".Aloha,Brad
p.p.
I own this DVD called "muppets magic". It's all sketches from muppets on Ed Sullivan. All before "the muppet show" was created. Here's a link I just found to purchase a copy for $7.50...http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asppid=6837155&style=movie&cart=278941053&BAB=E
