I decided to try my luck with Widespread Panic, and damn if I don't really like them!Good sound, good voice, lots of energy, lots of rock... yup, it's official, I like this band! I tried numerous times, I listened to live shows, cds, etc etc...but can't bloody stand them.I don't know what it is, I like many other "jambands" etc, just not these guys. They have a great, full, and make no mistake, rock and roll sound but the energy of their shows is not captured on live recordings all that well.Don't get me wrong, i love the songs, but there is something about being at their shows that is soooo invigorating.Like Baj says, see them live and if at all possible see them close to Athens, GA. They are ridiculously big there and judging by their shows that i have in the collection they always turn it up a bit for the home town (region) peeps....where everybody dances different with familiar grace. If anything, die-hard Slip fans are pissed that they've started focusing too much on creating "songs" and moved away from the improvisation that got them where they are... I know nothing of them other than I've listened to them dozens of times and they still suck IN MY OPINION. I am ignorant about how anyone finds them interesting.
