Musicians: Pay What You Can

Breakjazz is a recently-defined sub-genre of jazz created by combining an acoustic jazz band with one or more DJs and/or Turntablists who add improvised electronic elements to the musical performance (e.g. scratching, samples, loops, vocals from a CD, vinyl record or other electronic source).

In an attempt to further reach younger than traditional jazz audiences, on Friday, November 25th we will be formally unveiling the new sub-genre in jazz called Breakjazz.

Looking for musicians to take part with an improvisational band who will 'jam' with a DJ, it's all a part of defining the term 'breakjazz' -the mix of turntablism and live band performance.

DJ JTEC (DMC DJ Championship Canadian Finalist) will be the guest DJ, but more Scratch deejays are welcome.

Music between sets will be courtesy of DJ Reptile and DJ Shandy playing rare grooves, jazzy soul and party sounds.

Members of Chameleon Project, Contact, High Plains Drifter, ex-Stephen Franke, Go man Go and more will be some of the featured musicians.

* this show is a fundraiser for the Nu Jazz Society and the Roy Ayers Lauch Party Nov.27 @ The Mod Club.
