Toronto - The Silver Hearts, North America's Saloon Brothel Orchestra, will start the spread of holiday cheer with a very special performance. In addition to the Hearts' signature rowdy show, friends of the group will come up to do a couple of numbers backed by the band's blend of winds, percussion, brass, and strings.

Confirmed to join the band on stage will be sensational troubadour Justin Rutledge, powerhouse vocalist Serena Ryder, Deadly Snakes frontman (and the Hearts' partner in crime) Andre Ethier, W.C. Handy Award winner Paul Reddick, and more guests to be confirmed.

The evening will be a cross between Fiddler On The Roof, Tears Are Not Enough and Phil Spector's Christmas Record.

In the spirit of the season, guests are asked to bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank. A very happy and healthy Christmas, Chanukkah, & New Years From The Silver Hearts to music fans everywhere.

Hey - We made it to the Globe and Mail!!!

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/ArticleNews/TPStory/LAC/20051125/CLUBS25/TPEntertainment/Music

Silver Hearts Holiday Revue. Peterborough's dozen-strong woozy-saloon ensemble the Silver Hearts has always had an eye for novelty, doing stunts like covering Tom Waits's Raindogs album in its entirety. This time around, they're carrying off their own variation on The Band's Last Waltz, serving as hosts and backing group for such guest vocalists as Serena Ryder, the Deadly Snakes' Andre Ethier, Justin Rutledge, bluesman Paul Reddick and more. Nov. 30, 8:30 p.m. $12 to $14. Hugh's Room, 2261 Dundas St. W., 416-531-6604.

I had to read that a couple of times, to make sure it didn't say like the Last Waltz. Wow!

I'd love to hear Trevor singing Ophelia....

indeed. that very thought has me willing to go to toronto on a school night for a show :)

do the silverhearts allow taping? seems to me that this would be a keeper...

Hey Guys

Just to clear that up, they are not going to be "doing" the Last Waltz - the globe just mentioned that it was "their own variation" on the Last Waltz - i.e. some of their own tunes, and backing with the other artists....

.....we were just happy to get mentioned in the Globe - if you read the original press release at the top of the thread, that is a good description of the show.

Sorry about the confusion, but I KNOW that the show will not disappoint!!!!

See you there!!

Steve
