CyberHippie Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Cool, keep the links coming as you find em. I'll do the same.
skelter Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 this bit torrent stuff seems quite above me ... or i'm too impatient to figure it out ...
CyberHippie Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Actually it's the easiest way to download stuff. All you have to do is install the Bit Torrent plug-in for your browser, once you do that, all you have to do is click on a bit torrent link. It will ask where you want to save it to, then your off to the races.
bouche Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Yeah, it couldn't be easier for the downloader. It also resumes if you cancel and click the link again (assuming you select the same download directory)
MoMack Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Here's my question... I installed the one from the link for the WSP, Dead, Neil above, and for some reason I'm only getting like 3-5kb/s... Anybody have any advice on whats wrong at my end? That seems ridiculously slow...
skelter Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 ok ... it may be that i'm mildly retarded ... but i cant even get the program installed ... anyone know what im doing wrong?
JstSmkd1 Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 3-5 kb thats what us dial uppers get. WSP is 94hrs...............
CyberHippie Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 That's pretty much the same rates I'm getting, which really sucks. The only thing I can think of is that it's because we are uploading to other people at the same time. I usually get really good download rates, until someone else starts downloading from me, then it all goes to hell. Damn Rogers!!
MoMack Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 I read some of the FAQs etc. U/Ling should make BT faster... at least thats what it says... I'm getting 6kbs now... it also said something about making sure you have lots of ports open... 6881-6889 or something. I have no clue what this means... anyone???
Irie Guy Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Allrighty folks, Yes we are alive and back in Canada. I need help though. Being on dialup here in the netherlands there is now way I want to attempt the Bit Torrent thing. Who is willing to B&P or trade some Bonnaroo for me. I will be looking for Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, The Wailers, Galactic, moe., WSP, Dead, Warren, NMAS.... These were the shows that I need reminders on as the Baked Goods have fogged certain areas of the weekend. :-) Any and all help would be much appreciated! My list here: http://db.etree.org/wspfan Matt
Blane Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 bit torrent speeds increase as you get more people downloading at the same time. That means the more of you that get on and start downloading one specific show, the faster you'll all get it.
Snelly Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Get Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals here: http://kahn.ballcom.com/etree/ Great sound quality!!
CyberHippie Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 You can find the Dead, Neil, and WSP here: http://digitalpanic.org/bt/index.php
skelter Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 i still need help with bit torrent ... either i'm a total retard (highly possible) or i simply can't find a simple way to install to windows ... what am i missing?
MoMack Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Skelter... I was having the same problem, it was because it installed when I d/led it and I didn't notice. Just try d/ling something and see if it takes over... ps. my d/l speed is still shit
bouche Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 crap. They shut off the power at work yesterday and my computer didn't finish downloading The Dead. Is there anyway to finish it now, or am I poooooched?
CyberHippie Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Yeah dude, all you have to do is click in the link again, direct the download to the same place as before, and it will check what ya got and resume.
\/\/illy Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Hey Bouche, I've got the Dead show. I can hook you up. Send me an e-mail and we'll figure something out. Love and peace!
CyberHippie Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Just came across this posting on the etree forums, which explains why that dead show was pulled from digitalpanic... quote:Okay, apparently there was a problem with the source because whomever posted this show didn't happen to listen to it completely before posting it. There was a point on disc three where it cut away from the music, to some crowd banter. However, there is another source online... http://www.phook.org/siteutil/bittorrent/gotoBitTorrent.jsp?btID=464
Snelly Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 I found Robert Randolf and the Family Band, Yonder Mountain String Band, moe. Widespread Panic and more here: http://www.phook.org/siteutil/bittorrent/listBitTorrents.jsp All Bit Torrent shows.
