whiteymuseum
Cincinnati Records & Promotions Proudly Presents TUESDAY OCTOBER 17 2006 @ the Underground downtown Hamilton DRIVE BY TRUCKERS with special guests THE DRAMS (Formerly Slobberbone) You hear about "the greatest band in the world" being dropped on many a group, desperately given this medal in hopes they'll use it to "save rock-n-roll," whatever that means. But no band that has had to suffer under this artificial responsibility has succeeded so triumphantly as Drive-By Truckers. Equal parts back porch historians, runaway drunken firecrackers, and poets of the hard life and how to live it; they came on the scene and set the bar higher for what you can do with the music we love. The characters in their songs have left gals at the altar, wrecked their cars, woken up on the cold floor and even killed themselves a number of times over the years, breathing some new intelligent life, not just into rock music but, into rockers everywhere. Many a critic, including myself, have placed upon them the treacherous mantle of being The Best Rock Band In The World, and they wear this title like the blessing and the curse it is…I love this band. - Alex V. Cook WEB: http://www.drivebytruckers.com http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drive-By_Truckers http://www.3hive.com/2005/08/driveby_trucker.php Tickets go on sale ($22) Monday August 21, 5PM @ Dr.Disc, Sonic Unyon and Casbah Lounge in Hamilton, and out-of-town fans can visit http://www.tixit.ca to purchase their tickets on-line. whiteymuseum
Sweetness!! What's the underground like as a venue? Good sound? If I can be so bold, The Underground is a rock solid club in the Hammer.Holds 350 folks, home to rock and rule music since 2002.Some highlights include SEBADOH, THE CONSTANTINES (7 times), THE SADIES (4 times), AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD (twice), ANTIBALAS AFROBEAT ORCHESTRA (twice), VERNON REID & MASQUE, MARKY RAMONE & THE INTRUDERS, HAYDEN, BUCK 65 (three times), WEAKERTHANS (three times), SUFJAN STEVENS and oodles more. The sound is splendid. Best club sound in the city when the room is full imho.Today, lots of hard, heavy music gets booked there to off-set the programming I put in the Casbah. But when a show comes along that's too big for the Casbah's size, the Underground is handily available.

NewRider
This band LIVES in dives and the Underground is THE best dives in Hamilton! I'm still in shock that this band is doing a show in Hamilton and Toronto. To anyone who is on the fence about this show, let me fill you in. This is the GREATEST rock show you can see. These cats do NOT fuck around! Three guitarists, three singers, three song writers! The result is like seeing Springsteen, Dylan and Cash form a band but perform their own tunes. All in their prime of course. I think the oldest member of the band is 34. Regardless, don't miss this performance because this is what rock n' roll was, is and will always be about! I'm still in shock that this band is doing a show in Hamilton and Toronto. It might surprising to know that this is the first time I've ever heard someone refer to "The Undie" as a dive. You know what?.....I LIKE IT!The Underground, Hamilton's #1 dive bar for 2006!Although we serve cognac. Can a dive bar serve cognac?
