keither
I've noticed a couple of obvious 'campfire' tunes missing from the list... though there have been a bunch of great ones submitted. Here's my 2 cents worth: Up Against the Wall Redneck Mothers - Ray Wylie Hubbard (A must at any jamhead's campfire party!!) Significance of the Pickle - Arlo Guthrie (though only a special campfire guitar player/storyteller can pull this one off!!!) Tangled up in Blue - Bob Dylan When I Paint My Masterpiece - Bob Dylan Big River - Grateful Dead Dire Wolf - GD The Thrill is Gone - Garcia/Grisman Embryonic Journey - Jorma Kaukonen/Jefferson Airplane (If any of the guitar players feel like showing off!!) Pony Boy - Allman Brothers Band Blue Sky - ABB Melissa - ABB Willin' - Widespread Panic There's so many more... but these would definitely help get the party going, eh? Oh yeah, great call bro!! I have a great version of that tune by Jerry Jeff Walker. Cheers to your others also. Maybe a kickin version of Volunteers-(J.A.P) also. keither
Yeah Esau... you gotta keep your ear to the ground for those diamonds in the rough, eh? I've also got that live Jerry Jeff Walker version... it's a definite beaut. A J.A. Volunteers would also be SWEET... especially if you had a few players going at 'er. I'm digging your GD & Dylan choices too. That list could just go on & on, eh? You can never have too much Dead or Dylan at your fingertips when having a campfire jam! Patchoulia
Odd songs that you'd never think would be killer campfire tunes: Billie Jean is a kick-ass campfire song (no shit--people really really get into the Hoo! part) Express Yourself ~ For some bizarre reason, everyone knows the words and it really works with acoustic guitar! MarcO
How about some James Taylor? I was fooling around with "Sweet baby James" last night. "Footloose" by Kenny Loggins, is, believe it or not, a great tune to sing along to! (Geez, thanks Will.... )
