AD
Ottawa Senators general manager John Muckler announced that the club has acquired centre Mike Comrie from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for prospect Alexei Kaigorodov. The 26-year-old Comrie has played in 24 games with the Phoenix Coyotes this season, recording seven goals, 13 assists and 20 penalty minutes. In his last 10 games, he has three goals and five assists for eight points. Comrie was then traded later in the 2003-04 season to Phoenix on Feb. 4, where he has played since.Comrie's best seasons to date came first in 2001-02 when he recorded 33 goals, 27 assists and 60 points in 82 games with Edmonton. He also played in the 2002 NHL YoungStars Game as part of NHL All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. Comrie had his second 30-goal season in 2005-06 with Phoenix, and added as many assists for another 60-point campaign.Comrie spent two seasons at the University of Michigan (Central Collegiate Hockey Association) from 1998-99 to 1999-2000, totalling 103 points (43-60) in 82 games. Hal Johnson
This is a good pick up for the Sens. Shit, Id be elated if the Leafs got him, but I guess you have to have a decent prospect first.
Freak By Night
Pretty decent acquisition for the Sens. I'm glad they did not get Nedved. Comrie is a young and feisty player. I wonder if he will play tonight in the game tonight against Buffalo?
dave-O
Much better pick-up than Nedved would have been. Nedved would have been a stop-gap for the injuries for a few weeks, but Comrie has a chance to contribute on a healthy Sens club. And it doesn't matter what kind of player Kaigorodov develops into - bridges were burned, he was NEVER going to play in the Sens organization again. So they gave up nothing.Personally I think Mike Comrie is a hack. Major league talent with questionable work ethic and attitude (does this remind anyone of the Arnason acquisition?). Obviously I'm not the only one who feels this way, as he joins his 5th team in 6 seasons.
ollie
Anyways............when are the wonder twins Ollie/Dinghy going to pipe in and complain?I like it. Pretty low risk if it doesn't pan out because I agree that Kagairodov was never gonna play for the Sens. But yeah, the word "underachiever" comes to mind. AD
But yeah, the word "underachiever" comes to mind. That word will somehow be worked into the team's logo if nothing comes of this season.
