QOTD -- Your Frontier Town Dream Line-Up

DevO

Recommended Posts

With all these threads and all this talk about Frontier Town, I thought this would be a good question of the day..

What would be your dream line up for an upcoming Come Together Music Festival? But I'm talkin' a fairly realistic lineup, something within reason. Here's my picks:

Burt Neilson Band

Nero

Grand Theft Bus

Blackberry Blossoms

Crazy Strings

The Product

Jukejoint

Doug Feaver

Blue Quarter

The So So's

The Product

Ominous Seapods

Leo Kottke (I bet he's super expensive, but maybe not!)

Whattaya think??

Dream-line up, eh? Well, first I'd want to get some friends up there:

Uncle Seth

Matt Osbourne Band

Dr. Huxtable

Erin Smith Band

Special Ed & The Musically Challenged/Mike Freedman Band

Snoovy

Andy Sheppard Band

Junkyard Symphony

then a couple of semi obscure choices:

Hipbone (great band from N.C., I think they're broken up now)

SmokStik (Stick & drum duo, I think from NYC - caught them at NXNE a few years back)

a few of the usual suspects:

Nero

JSB

Caution Jam

New Deal

and some real wishful thinking:

Downtime reunion

Bourbon Tabernacle Choir reunion

Hah, now that would be pretty sweeet!

Peace,

Mr. M.

so I hope you got a chance to see her this year at the Guelph Jazz Fest, the old lead singer in Screaming Headless Torsos was with her- peter wasn't impressed- but I thought it was very cool.

She also played an intimate dinner show last spring with a cool kid cuban piano player.

I'll post to the watchtower if she comes through again- she really likes our festival.

Oh man, that would be a ball! I'd love to see them now that the original line-up is back together, and if they were doing a late-night saloon they could actually stretch out and not just do the same damn top 40 hits you always used to hear from them.

I saw Eric Schenkman when Cork opened for John Popper Band a few years back, and again playing Crystal Flame with BT at HORDE. That guy still rocks when he's given a chance to really play.

Peace,

Mr. M.

Looks like MarcO took some drugs with Bobby, and took some drugs with Phil [Wink]

I'ld love to see Dark Star Orchestra boogie on up to Canada for this. RAQ would be cool as would a ton of bands I have yet to have seen.

Aside from that, carry on. This all looks good to me.

I think Days Of You would KILL in the saloon.....

They are all about collective energy, and play off of it and to it. I have seen teeny, tiny glimpses of it, but nothing like what it used to be at the ole Toucan in Kingston. When a bar ROCKS to them, it gets insane!

"Oven oven, cake, cake, cake, MarcO has more drugs to take."

[Eek!]

I know the idea of getting Hookah has been discussed already and it was pretty much agreed that they would be great but too expensive. Anyone have any idea what Jupiter Coyote would cost? I think they would be a great addition to a Frontiertown lineup as well.
